So I don't get it. Dorian is an outcast because of his sexuality and the fact that he doesn't like how Tevinter currently functions.

Yet Maevaris is a magister recognized by the senate even though she is obviously not continuing the house legacy, even married a dwarf, and doesn't support the ways of Tevinter as well.

What's up with that?

Pretty sure he was an outcast more because of how he rejects and despite their way of life, but Mae doesn't do that.

Didn't Dorian willingly exile himself? The difference may simply be that Mae chose to change things from withing, and Dorian from without.

He wasn't outcast because of his sexuality, but his politics. He doesn't play the game, he doesn't approve of their actions, he runs off to ferelden. Dude outcast himself because he didn't approve of them.

Ok, so he just ran away and didn't want to live in Tevinter anymore? Others had no hand in exiling him?

Possible nobody cared because she isn't from a Altus family , or because she married a dwarf.

Tevinter and dwarves are very close and they like to do business with each others , and the couple won't have any non magical child.

Profit?
