So, going through DAO again, I got to Redcliffe, and had a bit of a debate about justice with myself. By today's measure of justice extorting Lloyd of his Tavern and giving it to Bella is an unjustifiable redistribution of wealth. However, this being a fantasy setting reminiscent of the medieval period, and first knowing what Bella tells you about Lloyd which she essentially says he is a greasy pig and gropes her (sexual harassment). Is it justice to punish Lloyd by taking his Tavern and giving it to Bella, assuming she is telling the truth? (I made him fight in the battle; he survived). Considering that today, sexual harassment could land a person in jail or at least having to face some serious charges.

Which brings me to another point about this grey area: Knights in the past could impose the King's justice how they saw fit (pretty much like Judge Dredd) but do Grey Wardens have that much autonomy as well (to serve justice like Knights)? Basically, I'm looking to see if this is a fair justification to commit extortion as a form of dispensing justice on Llyod assuming he does sexually harass Bella, obviously it would be wrong by our society's standards.

Sorry if this seems insignificant in the grand scheme, but I love trying to look at grey areas of video games and justifying certain actions.

If Lloyd survived the evening, he also appears to change his attitude. Take the ring, reward Bella as you deem fit, but added punishment seems petty considering the events. If however, he does it again....

Personally, I think coaxing him into helping defend the village is enough, just like how I let Berwick do his part, even though I would have normally murdered any spies from Loghain or Howe. But then, I also gave Bella enough money to start a new life elsewhere.

Right, I suppose how much of a punishment you give depends on what you think is appropriate, for instance, I think out right killing him is taking it too far.

I thought about doing this, but it seemed like Lloyd was escaping the consequences of his actions and making a girl run away in the process (when really she shouldn't have to). Defending Redcliffe almost seemed like something he should have been doing anyway instead of letting other people protect his property while he cowers away in a hiding hole. Allowing him to remain a bartender seemed generous, maybe I am too harsh, but I looked at the issues seperately lol

Twice in a row now I've forced Lloyd to defend Redcliffe to get his ring. What I'm used to doing is killing him and paying Bella to move to Denerim after the zombie attack is over but it feels good to see Lloyd's change of heart should he live.

Grey wardens are supposed to be neutral, so it's unlikely that they'd have authority for dispensing justice.

Regarding the tavern, what I sometimes do is to first intimidate Lloyd to serve free drinks, then become a partner, demand profits, pick up everything in his inventory, force him to fight during the attack and then come back and get the ring. Serves him right I'd say, as the warden will move on, and the tavern will practically remain in Lloyd's hands.

I was going to leave Redcliffe to the zombies, seeing as I'm a self-serving son of a ******. But then I flirted with Bella, and accidentally killed Lloyd. So as new owner of the Tavern I had to protect my business and lovely Bella and save the stupid town. :/

Who's Lloyd and what tavern you speak of? I've beaten DAO 5 times and don't recall there being a tavern.

In Redcliffe, atop a hill overlooking the village. The dirt path is not clear, so you may need to swing the camera around a bit when you are examining the area.

Eh, I always make Lloyd fight in the battle and live and send Bella with five sovereigns to her name to make a life. Given that she becomes very wealthy, I always headcanon that she buys the Redcliffe tavern for herself from Lloyd and ends up being Lloyd's boss anyway.

It's the Redcliffe branch of her enterprise!

I too do all of that.

I always stop by and take the gems and sell them to Owen down the hill. Am I breaking the economy? Sure, but I WANT MOAR GOLD.
