Dungy, Poory, Theafy, Dumby and Snooty.
I rarely play elves, but if I do one, I'll probably just pick a Welsh street sign and go from there.
Tolkien inspired names here, too. So far, my elves have been:
My last elf playthrough was a circle mage whose name was Matias but that's mostly because I developed a bit of an obsession with that name right when I was starting that particular playthrough. I just headcanoned that he was the child of two circle mages and taken from his parents so the Chantry sisters named him, hence the non-Tolkien name.
A lot of people seem to be using Tolkein as inspiration. Personally feel some of those names are a little fanciful for DA, but it all depends on what works for you. ![]()
Welsh names seem to work just as well - a quick google search will give you a long list to choose from.
Personally, I'm going with either Helena (not very Dalish sounding, I'll admit) or Ariel (which is probably better) - based off characters from a concept album by metal band, Kamelot. Past two games I played characters who were loosely inspired by songs off that album, so I figured I'd continue with the tradition.
So you can really find inspiration for names anywhere. Anything that you think sounds good, I suggest go for it. ![]()
Anything that sounds awesome really and that fits with the surname.
I also use a fantasy name-generator if Im truly desperate but I can usually rely on my imagination lol ![]()
You really shouldn't name elves.
Once you name them, it makes it harder when it comes time to put them down.
There's only one Elf for me, and she already has a name.

Just wanted to shout out to Faerunner, her posts were fantastic. It never occurred to me that some of the elven names were Hebrew variants.
Having said that, I think I'd use one of Noah's sons. I'm sure there's one I'll like.
Zelda?
No. lol

I know. It's part of my charm.
No it's not.
I look at the default and change a few letters.
That or I give them a name like Raine or something.
Slowly, while munching on a grape and butter sandwhich.
No it's not.
If female any name or word that sounds like a name with wen at the end ie Amywen, Marywen Jadewen Illiawen etc. If male I use names end en or thiel ie Zorken Liamthiel Bobthiel Johnken etc
Using this makes Elf names very easy to come with and unlike say Human and Dwarves who actually reqiuire me to put thought into their names, traditionaly I always call my 1st dwarf male playthough in a fantasy game Thorin (cos Thorin Oakenshield is bloody badarse) and any male Humans Ragnar after Ragnar Blackmane (also another Badarse)
I just add extra L's or N's to random names I come up with
Tal = Talrenn
Lave = Lavell
For a Dwarves I add a ' also sometimes double up letters
Ta'Lavv
Tolkien inspired names here, too. So far, my elves have been:
- Elenion
- Ithilwen
- Thalion
- Ainion (city elf but I headcanon his mom was Dalish)
My last elf playthrough was a circle mage whose name was Matias but that's mostly because I developed a bit of an obsession with that name right when I was starting that particular playthrough. I use Ithilwen and Thalion for my elf's too.
I'm simple. My Dalish elves are named after nature or animals. Ivy, Shadow Hawk, Sunshine, Mage sometime is a nature name sometime human if she was picked up very young the humans named her.
I'll call the Gary, all of them. So its Gary elves...sorry
