Ok so.. does the Dark-spawn come into play at all in inquisition? i feel like with the growing presence of the Qunari in Thedas (inquisitor, iron bull, etc..) is somehow related to dark-spawn and their fascination with the corrupt/blighted enemy of all living things. Does any one have any insight on this at all?
Am i the only one who remembers the darkspawn?

Given that it generally takes a century or two between Blights, and by the start of Inquisition, the Blight of Origins is only ten years prior, I'd say that the darkspawn are still in remission, that much of their numbers were whittled down due to the Blight and the conflict between the Architect and the Mother. So they're a minor threat for Thedas prior to the Breach, and relegated even further down the threat list because of it

I really loathed the darkspawn. They sort of got better and worse in DA:A, but otherwise I'm happy if they're never a major feature of a DA game again.

The darkspawn were boring. I prefer baddies with a bit more personality.

So far, they look like they will probably be a backseat player to the rest of the plot. While I'm sure that they will have an impact on things to come, we're talking about 10 years after the Blight now. Darkspawn are only a huge threat during a Blight. That being said, I'm almost positive we'll end up back in the Deep Roads. They might have something brewing down there, and it could relate to the red lyrium.
Could you guys imagine a red lyrium enhanced orge, for example?

Eh, darkspawn are boring, so I really don't care what happens to them.
Oh no! Evil! Agh!
that sort of thing works with Lord of the Rings, but...

They're some creatures you meet in DA II. One of them has horns and kills your sibling.

Corypheus is still out there.
Architect may return if my theory of the ancient magisters is true, with them reincarnating in/with the blight/taint.
The darkspawn are only a part of Thedas, there are more things to do than stick with supernatural monsters, they could always have some darkspawn threat later, but it is too soon for another Blight. I would like to see another awakened darkspawn introduced that is not an ancient magister.

I thought it was an ogre. That's what the old lady called it.

Oh? The darkspawn must have been those smaller minions it had.

Unfortunately, too many people on the surface see it as a "dwarven problem", but the threat should be addressed. Depending on how the Inquisitor can allocate resources, sending aid to the dwarven armies against this menace may be a possibility. None of us really know at this point how it might be addressed, if at all.

Just that the Architect is an ancient magister, which I think others agree with because of Cory. That according to the Calling, it sounds like he was born like any other darkspawn, and didn't have any memory before being "born," and that he always knew himself to be different and didn't know why. So, I just think he was an ancient magister like Cory, but instead of being imprisoned like Cory thousands of years ago, he was killed, and then reborn. As the taint/blight acts as a means for magic, it is like the Fade in a way, and since the Archdemon's soul travels through it to possess darkspawn or warden, it sounds like souls are connected to it somehow. So, I think the ancient magisters are "damned" to the taint/blight, to be reborn as darkspawn over and over again, unless their souls are somehow removed from the blight or "clashed" with another soul like the archdemons or old gods.

There is probably going to be some sort of Darkspawn presence at the Western Approach since the Abyssal Reach lies there, which is practically a hellmouth of Darkspawn.
I'd imagine so. I had initially thought the Venatori were there too. Also, I wanna go down into the Abyssal Reach SO FREAKING MUCH.

Unless Bioware makes another game set in Thedas for the final two Blights ![]()

From what we've seen with Legacy and Awakening, I don't think the "final two Blights" would be the end of the darkspawn. Would have to kill every single darkspawn everywhere or find some magical means to remove the blight/taint.

The Darskapwn are a horde of evil monsters that want to kill everyone for no reason and are consequently one of the least interesting parts of the setting. I'd prefer we don't get another game featuring them as the main antagonists. The ideological conflicts between political factions in Orlais, Mages and Templars, and Qunari and the Chantry are all much more interesting. I'd prefer the game focused on those instead.
