Back in May, a lot of you were very helpful in my transition to Silver from Bronze. I've started playing gold matches. I have about 5 under my belt. They are a bit of a struggle, but I usually do all right.

Would anyone have tips for optimising the turian sentinel, using my limited manifest?

Here is the build I have been using: http://kalence.drupa...!22A24262!5F9A5

And here is my manifest: http://social.biowar...en&platform=pc#

I use that gear and those mods for the hurricane, because that is what is available.

Anyone have any tips on how to optimize this?

I was thinking of using barrage upgrade gear. I have a hard time keeping the hurricane's spray on target. I was also thinking of maybe going with an assault rifle like the mattock as I have a piercing mod and extended barrel for it. I'll probably mess around with that tomorrow.

*****

An aside...I've been trying to use incendiary rounds to prime fire explosions with overload. I'm not quite sure if that is how this works. I also tried warp ammo, thinking they could prime biotic explosions if I cast warp on a primed target. That doesn't seem to work. Anyone have some tips for this?

*****

edit: In case anyone cares, I recorded some video of an accidental gold duo that took place last night. This was my third or fourth gold game. Finding a gold game late last night was a little tough, but I stumbled in on a guy playing alone with a geth juggernaut. I'm not really sure if I was a burden or a help. But I recorded it and timestamped all of my booboos.

Maybe some folks can give me tips on how to avoid making the same mistakes over and over...and over again.

After watching the video, i can definitely see how an adrenaline mod would have helped. The turian needs all of the agility it can get:

Thanks to TheNightSlasher for video recording tips!

Rank 6a of overload is fantastic crowd control. Especially potent against geth or if you have swarms of abombs or husks. Otherwise, build looks good.

Adrenaline Module > Cyclonic on the slow bulky turian. Tech Armor 4 + Fitness 4 is enough durability.

TSent makes any weapon good because he's a turian but with your manifest I'd probably choose Raider, Valkyrie, Eagle, Piranha, or Mattock.

Thanks for this. Never thought of a shotgun. The 4.5 second recharge for the powers scares me though. I'm so using to spamming them.

Huh, took damage to shields/barriers because it so effective against those tough shielded mobs. I should try this out. I think tomorrow i will try out the mattock and piranha. I'm terrible with the raider. I can't seem to hit anything with it.

Thanks for these great tips!

Best character in the game IMO. This is my go-to Platinum build.

http://kalence.drupa...13251364!BF9A3G

Until you get the Lancer you could stick with your Hurricane or try the Phaeston. On the Tsent on Gold it's pretty effective. Plus it's lore-friendly. I also like the Eagle with the Heavy Barrel (High-Caliber Barrel will do) and Piercing mods.

I prefer to leave the shotguns for the Soldier. The accuracy, RoF and instant reload of Marksman make all the difference.

It's already been said but Adrenaline > Cyclonic. No question.

Is there a weapon that's not lore-friendly? I can't think of any.

Are you using the Smart Choke? Claymore, Piranha and Raider it is pretty much mandatory if you want to hit anything from range

Javelin on Geth - Lore-friendly.

Javelin on Volus - Not lore-friendly.

Voluses use power armor, and they have the financial capacity to aquire rare, exotic weapons. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

This is my build for Platinum.

I simply prefer to max out fitness and damage reduction in Tech Armor. Warp works excellent with Lancer and Warp Rounds IV. It can also prime BE and detonate any kinds of combos.

To compensate the absence of Overload, I can simply bring Acolyte.

He's a really versatile character and there are many several viable builds. It's really down to your own preference to decide which one is the best.

I won't argue that Adrenaline is pretty much always a good choice, and especially so on the OG Turians, but I've come to really prefer a Power Amp on the Sentinel, particularly for Platinum (I know OP asked about Gold, but the same holds true on all difficulties)- that beefed up Overload absolutely destroys Phantom and Banshee barriers (stopping them in their tracks), and it makes Warp a legitimate direct damage power against armor and barriers (something like 1200/1800 damage respectively with Power Amp IV IIRC, depending on how you spec passives and tech armor).

I have no words for how much you're missing out on if you have an "only" build for Senturian, the most versatile kit in the game.

Seems like everybody is giving you advice like your a maxed manifest player, which is the norm from what I see around here. ie. Claymore is really quite poor if you don't know how to cancel reload. So if you want to use that shotgun, here's how to cancel reload with that character; Dodge either right, left or down (your choice,  but I always use right dodge), since Turians can't dodge, it can be used to cancel the second half of weapon reload animation (after you hear "click, click" and see the number in you chamber change from 0 to 1. That's the time to do this. If you do it before that, it won't work). Another way to cancel reload is with powers like Overload. Just use the power during that time you need to cancel reload. The power doesn't even have to be ready to use, as it will still cancel the reload, just that you won't do an Overload since it's still in cooldown.

And yes, shooting enemies with fire ammo then casting overload does work to set off a fire explosion. But it don't work against shielded enemies (take their shield down first). Only for health & armour. So once you see them set on fire, cast overload. Basically I just keep shooting and casting Overload as it's ready everytime, back to back. Can also use Disrupter ammo to detonate with Overload for a tech burst. Oh, and Warp can be used as a detonator too.

To answer your Warp ammo question as well. Well, what you do is first cast warp, the shoot with warp ammo, as anything enemy primed by any biotic power will give warp ammo an extra damage boost. And that's the trick with this ammo.

Your build is also just fine for a beginner with your manifest. Is what I would use if I had your manifest. So cheers, and have fun. :)

Sinful, the OP is on PC...  On PC reload cancel is usually done with medi-gel; you can't RC with a power that's on cooldown.

That said, if the OP hasn't learnt reload canceling, that should be the first thing on his/her list. The second step is reload hiding, the third is combining them together.

Your build is identical to mine, and it sees me through on platinum well enough.

The hurricane us probably your best choice at the moment, especially if you take a barrage upgrade. Otherwise, the eagle, carnifex, paladin and executioner might make good choices if you like those guns. Shotguns can work with longer power cool downs, if you like those guns.

On gold I would start to use powers to augment your weapons rather than the other way round with the Tsent. To that end, I would scrap the power magnifier mod on the hurricane (or whatever you take) in favour of a larger clip or piercing. Against most mooks, overload then go for head shots. Against bosses either set up fire explosions, or take warp ammo, which will get a nice hearty bonus against enemies you've already warped.

I would also suggest trying adrenaline modules instead of cyclonics. Faster movement can help just as much as extra shields, and will make it easier to escape synch kill enemies.

I have him spec'd in multiple ways, also the Arc Pistol build is quite universal.

I actually use him as a crowd-control kit with a Falcon... it's amazing against Geth and Cerberus (except Primes/Atlases) and not bad against Reapers/Collectors; the Falcon I will hurt your CDs a little though.

This is the closest I can get to my setup using your manifest: http://kalence.drupa...!21631131!DFAB3

But since putting a detonatable (that's a word right?) ammo type (Disruptor or Incendiary) on the Falcon is really important to the way I play it may not work for you with the handful of consumables you actually have :|

I always just used the Arc Pistol build, absolutely ridiculous if you're good at headshots.

Using a weapon incapable of headshots on a turian... that just feels so wrong.

OP, TS is one of the most versatile kits in the game so you'll see many builds that are similar, but all will be good. The build you've linked to is the build that got me into pugging gold back in the day, but I would suggest putting some type of piercing/armour mitigation on your weapon.

Then again, using incendiary ammo means you can put out some insane damage if you warp the target first and then fire at it.
