I was wondering what became of Leliana? From the marketing materials so far she seems unapologetic, harsh, cold and religious fanatic. Its the vibe I'm getting from the character.

What changed her? The image I had in my mind since Origins was this humble servant/believer of Andraste. A little broken character, turbulent past and all.

Is there something I'm missing here, like some optional DLCs, books or other satelite lore that alters her image inbetweex the games?

She's became the left hand of the Divine, which means she's the one that has to spy and assassinate people in Justina's name, or people who might cause her harm.  Plus most of the marketing stuff we've seen has been after you rescue her, so she's probably going to be a little pissed off after being tortured

well most people did Harden her in Origins, and during DA2 she was the Left hand of the Devine so already doing covert ops for the Chantry.

There's no evidence that most people hardened her. Given that people tend to favor 'good' choices, I'd be comfortable betting that's not the case.

Always.

Yes. The game begins at a peace summit where the Divine and the heads of the Chantry get blown the hell up. If someone destroyed the Vaticin tomorrow, murdering the Pope and the College of Cardinal, you can bet that many Catholics would experience shock, grief, and anger.

And Leliana is even friends with the current Divine. She's the women who helped her escape the dungeon after Marjoline betrayed her, and Leliana has spend the last few years working for her as the Left Hand of the Divine.

I don't think Leliana will ever be an outright fanatic, at least as I see it.

But much more brutal and concrete in her beliefs? Yes. With possible exceptions, I think this Leliana will be farther away from the one that did random 'fun' barding crap. She'll be about the Maker and serving his will, in whatever way she deems necessary.

It seems the name of Inquisition sets the tone then and attracts certain shade of characters. It maybe a too far fetched but we have Cassandra, a fanatic to a degree, and now Leliana which also sways the warrior-priest tendency.

Wil we have a choice if the Inquisition is pro, anti or neutral towards relligion? Or is it yet another splinter (cell) of Chantry? Is there a possibility to morph into a heretic organization (not in the pejorative meaning mind you)?

I believe we choose the Inquisition's attitude towards religion, old orders, new powers, etc.

I think by the end, the characters you have with you more or less are for the Inquisition above all else, including the Chantry. Kinda seems that Bioware wants to make this the next significant world power.

Would be interesting to carry over the Inquisition power-state to the next game, which can often acknowledge actions taken as Inquisitor and adjust the next story accordingly (with Warden/Hawke decisions barely mattering if at all anymore?).

Supports my claim tha pc is railroaded to support chantry, or atleast previous status quo. You just can't have religious fanatics(right hand of divine and seeker enforcer) in your team and turn against chantry.

We have only really seen Leliana in what seems like it's a rather out of character moment.

Though I am a touch concerned, because Bioware's off-screen character development isn't something I've been overly keen on in the past.

A lot will depend if the divine was at the peace conference. Since both hands are more loyal tto the divine then the chantry from my understanding both have past experences with them.

Why not? You can't have Cerberus fanatics like Miranda in your team and turn against Cerber*trails off*... Oh wait, you can.

Yes. We've been told several times that the Inquisition does not need to be pro-Chantry.

You kidding me? She was so pure Cerberus that she was nicknamed the Cerberus Cheerleader by Jack, and was constantly going on about how awesome Cerberus was in just about every conversation you had with her that wasn't about her sister or about her romance.

Cassandra definitely seems like she'll be dealing with something of a crisis of faith in this game

So what is the cornerstone of Inquisition. How it came to be? Is the protag the founder and namegiver of Inquisition? Or maybe its a joined decision, a consensus of core party members? Are we given any info on the matter or will it be explained and introduced with the game itself?
