I usually take my party in the DA games based upon the characters I want to hang out with :)

I like to have at least one of each class, but I don't mind doubling up on either one of the 3.  I'd rather they be varried enough though that it doesn't feel like they are the same.  2 mages one should be mainly support, 2 rogues one should be long range the other melee, and 2 warriors one should be tanking and the other dps.

Gaider and others mentioned that who you take on a party could depend on the outcome. However, I usually take two front liners (either a warrior or Dual Weapon Rogue)

I tend to take multiple mages, as they seems to be more of a multiplicative class instead of additive.

With some exceptions, of course.

Depends on if I'm playing pro-Magi or Anti-Magi on a playthrough.

The main difference is that pro-magi games I'll use mages and anti-magi games I won't use them.  My head canon is heavily anti-magi so 2 warriors (one tank, 1 2 handed), 2 rogues (1 melee, 1 ranged) is the most common.

Not having heal spells was not an issue in DAO.  DA2 made it slightly more painful, but with potion buffs and tactics there wasn't a fight I couldn't do on normal with that make up.

I normally don't have two rogues.

My general rule of thumb for party setup is two melee and two ranged characters. I'd much rather have either two warriors up front soaking up or dealing damage or two mages using crowd control and debilitation spells to make the fights easier. Other than character flavor or because I like a specific party member rogues always have been more of a niche class than a necessity in DA.

(Of course, being I actually *like* agile acrobatic types who aren't slowed down by massive plates, I do hope Inquisition can make rogues a lot more useful than just lightweight fighters).

Same here... except one thing... There always has to be a healer in the team.

For me, it's love interest + healer + third person I like.

Therefore, in Origins, it was Zevran, Wynne, and Shale. In DA2, it was Isabela, Anders, and Varric for my female Hawke, and Fenris, Anders, and Isabela/Varric for my male Hawke. For Inquisition, it'll depend on which Inquisitor I'm playing as, whom I'm romancing (Sera, Dorian, Iron Bull, possibly Vivienne, possibly Solas), who the best healer is (Solas? Viv?), and whom I like the most out of the remaining options (very likely Varric).

EDIT: More on topic, I never have two warriors if I can help it. Shale and Fenris are the only ones I've consistently used, other than one playthrough as a warrior Hawke.

I don't really mind, as long as it isn't 3 of the same class. I've done 2 warrior, 2 mage, 2 rogue and they have all been fine. I usually prefer it if they have different specializations though (e.g. a rogue archer and a rogue duel wield). In my first playthrough I will be a mage and I will mainly have Iron Bull, Sera and Dorian. I'm planning to be a Rift Mage and I'm hoping Dorian will be a different type of mage (a healer sort of mage would be good but I don't really mind whatever as long as he has different powers).

I haven't played 2, but in origins I had 2 rogues, one for lockpicking, 1 warrior, 1 mage
