Nothing that I've purchased personally (sans the ultimate/Inquisitor's Edition, which I'd been saving money for since I completed DAII) in terms of gaming equipment, but it is a rather nice coincidence that I happened to get an Xbox One at Christmas and a new controller and Live membership on my birthday last month. Perfect really, I was never going to be able to afford all of that myself.

Really I've just got myself the new Orlais t-shirt and Inquisitor's mug from the Bioware Store. Y'know, for style points when I first go get and play the game~

Me too, but not for gaming.

Welcome to the world of:

ME: "XBOX ONE GO TO YOUTUBE. NO GO TO YOUT--- Eh XBOX GO TO YOU TUBE, NO DON'T Bing U2!!! GO TO YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!! ARGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Xbox: "Sunday, bloody Sunday!!!"

It's actually a pretty cool home theater device. I just wish the voice commands were more reliable. A LOT more reliable. When Plex support hits, I'll be super happy.

I've never been into FPS games.  I did play wing commander for about a week and I could not for the life of me get the plane out of the hanger, Total fail and embarrassment.

That's a familiar experience. :P

Now that my new Samsung EVO 840 SSD is up and running (after an entire week of nothing but problems due in large to bad sectors on my WD Caviar Black magnetic drive), I did a bench mark using the Magician software and I'm actually getting better performance than is listed: Seq Read is listed at 540 Mb/s, I'm actually getting 555; seq. Write is listed at 520 mb/s, I'm getting 525 and I'm right on-par with the Random stats.  I've also fully upgraded my RAM from 16 g to 32...I was told I wouldn't notice any difference, but I do....quite a bit.  So now there's actually nothing more that I can do to beef-up my rig- unless I build something else that is entirely brand new with BIGGER and better hardware, haha.  But I won't be doing that for at least 5 years, 'cause I'm a happy gamer.

Fingers and Toes crossed that I will remain happy when Inquisition comes out, or once the specs are released in October given that the game has (understandably) been delayed.

Hey....anyone here remember back when Star Wars: Jedi Knight was delayed for nearly 2 years.....?  Man, they kept pushing back the release date- I thought that game would be forever in limbo....That was a long wait.

Happy Gaming!

I finally upgraded from a 2007 Macbook to a late 2013 Macbook Pro running bootcamp, and that was a phenomenal leap forward. And since DAI can run on the Xbox 360, that means I should be able to run DAI on straight medium settings with little issue (Using Far Cry 3 as a benchmark here). I don't mind taking a bit of a graphical hit so long as the gameplay is smooth, and honestly I didn't even notice much of a difference between FC3 on High and Medium.

I'm still not convinced that wasn't somehow my fault. I preordered it twice, both times the store went under. When I gave up, it released.

Gonna pick up the G510 keyboard and G502 Proteus mouse.

I have the same keyboard and mouse for about 6+ years, and the keyboard is starting to go. Might as well upgrade.

Knew I needed a new rig to run DA:I at a level I'd like.  So I spent six months researching, building fantasy configs on various sites, and generally over-thinking what I was going to do.

In the end what I realized was that six months after purchasing something I didn't want to be saying, "I really wish I had chosen Digital Storm!"

THIS IS THE RESULT

1678793-1402886081.png

System Configuration:
Chassis:   Corsair Obsidian 550D
CPU:   Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core)
GPU: ASUS nVidia GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II (2GB)
RAM:   16GB DDR3 @ 2133MHz (2x8GB) Digital Storm Certified Performance Series

HDD:   WD 1TB - Black Edition (2TB Seagate Barracuda SSHD, and 1TB Seagate HDD added)

Optical Drive:   ASUS DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (LG Blu-Ray Writer added)

Motherboard:   ASUS Z97-C (Intel Z97 Chipset)

Of course I could  have.  What I didn't bother to add here was the preface to my post on the Digital Storm Customer Review forum:

I've been building (and re-building) computers since 1988. I know what to do, but no longer want to spend the time and effort doing it all myself.

Not to mention that with a DIY system, if any little thing doesn't work correctly -- from a truly defective component to just an obscure incompatible driver, it's all up to the individual to diagnose and repair the issue.  Going with a reliable custom system builder like Digital Storm, I don't even have to think about it!

Two short videos tell the story:

Overview:  Digital Storm

System:  Slade

BTW:  If price is your primary consideration then, as one tech writer found, "It's Actually Cheaper to Buy Digital Storm's New Gaming PC than to Build It Yourself".   The Vanquish II  model offered by DS is their pre-built line starting at US$700.  There are four "levels", but no customization beyond what's included at each level.

I can think of better things to do with $1500 than have someone construct a rig for me.

I'm pretty sure the actual building of the PC didn't cost $1500. At most he probably spend an extra $300 on the PC vs building it himself. For a lot of people the piece of mind of a full warranty + having it built by someone else is worth that.

I built a couple rigs and rebuilt them as well. But next time (and by next time I mean in the distant future) I will use that option to pay a company to build it for me. To me, the convenience is well worth it.

^^ What MarchWaltz said!  ^^

For a reality check I just priced-out the major components on NewEgg a minute ago.  Didn't bother to include cables, thermal paste, etc., but the main hardware for my system came in at US$1450 (good estimate, Gamemako.)

So the amount over that for my DS Slade provided:

1)  Convenience.  Didn't have to do it myself, with all the time and effort that would have entailed.

2)  Expertise.  Knew the system would run out-of-the-box. (No worries and/or frustration over incompatible parts or missing drivers, doing something incorrectly, or "frying" something during the assembly.)

3)  Warranty.  A full four years on the components (the DS standard 3-yr, plus a Summer special for a free additional year) and Lifetime tech support.  Plus not having to deal with a half-dozen-or-so different vendors and the associated receipts.

4)  A spiffy binder with all the system documentation and a certificate signed by the builder and the QA tester.  :P

Well worth it to me!  :D

For DA:I specifically none, but for new and incoming games in general I upgraded my CPU to the FX-8350 from a Phenom II x4 955, my GPU from GTX 460 to the GTX 760 4Gb Windforce OC version, new motherboard to allow for the new CPU plus the option of quad SLI/quad Crossfire future-proofing and an additional 8Gb of RAM bringing the total to 16Gb.

Just last week I totally splurged and replaced my 4GB EVGA 760 Dual FTW ( which has been an amazing cards for 2 years)...with a new 980 FTW, and I'm totally glad I did.  Now I've gone from 17 FPS (with my 760) to holding at 30 (according to FRAPS) with the new 980 (and I'm playing at 1440 p with all settings on either Ultra or High) which is absolutely playable without any tearing or stuttering, artifacting or any blemish

Lol and here I replaced my old graphics card (can't remember what it was, just know it definitely didn't agree with DAI) with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 thinking that was pretty good xD

I'm very tempted to upgrade now that it seems lackluster compared to what others have...but I really don't want to go through the whole process again...I ended up having to *also* buy a brand new PSU. Screwing around trying to fit everything into the case was a nightmare.

It seems every time I try to improve anything hardware-related I end up finding way more problems and spending way more money than I plan -.-

Bought my PS4 for DA:I. If modding is improved for DA:I will upgrade my computer and buy DA:I for PC. My current PC could play it, but not optimally.

I gave up my trusty, only a year old laptop in exchange of my younger brother's desktop computer.
