I believe that the developers have a particular story in mind...I remember hearing in an interview that they started storyboarding DAI while they were making DAO...so I hope they make at least as many games as it takes to tell that story. If they wish to continue, there is certainly plenty of material in Thedas...and, dare I say it, the world beyond...that I would love it if they continued. Perhaps the next series could encompass the next Age...that would be fun to see...what will it be named, I wonder.
How many DA Games should Bioware make? How should it end?

They've established a huge franchise. They could go on for several more years with many games.
But I'm a firm believer in a series ending on a good note, before it overstays its welcome. Example; Breaking Bad.
Before the Dragon Age series is finished, here's a list of things I feel should be done in the coming titles
-Tevinter (including Seheron), Anderfels, Nevarra, Antiva, Rivain, and eventually Par Vollen should be explored in-depth
-The Mage-Templar conflict must be resolved once and for all. Success varies
- The Dalish make one final stride to reclaim them homeland. Success varies
- The Old Gods must be destroyed once and for all, the remaining Darkspawn dealt with
-The Maker and Andraste must reveal themselves, if they exist (exist as they are portrayed)
- The end of the Dragon Age, dawn of the a New Age
I say they can do all of this within 4 or 5 more games. Maybe less, depending on how much ground they want to cover within one game.

I thought it was said a long time ago that Dragon Age will have 5 installments (Origins->2->Inquisition->4->5)
I believe what was actually said was at the time they had ideas for five(whether it was another five after origins or five total, I don't recall).
It leaves the door open for them having more ideas further down the line.

I expect there to be at least one Game focused on a large Scale Qunari Invasion.
I hope we get to play a Follower of the Qun there. or someone in that Direction.

I would add dealing with the incoming Qunari Invasion : Success varies

I think the DA franchise has the potential to live on indefinitely, it all relies on how creative and clever the writers and developers are to continue generating interest in the game world.
We've only played around in a few small areas of the world. We know Ferelden, *one* city-state of many in Free Marches (Kirkwall), and some of Orlais. That's it. There is so much more available left to explore upon this one continent. And this is just *one* continent among who knows how many landmasses/continents that decorate the planet in which all of this takes place. Apart from that, you also have the timeline to explore as well. Time also changes many factors. A DA game set 1000 years in the future is not going to be the same world, and there will be many, many different things to explore. So on and so forth.
On top of that, as game consoles advance and graphics improve there will be a desire, both from the fan base and the developers, I imagine, to revisit old ground, both to update it visually and also to explore how it's grown and been effected by the events in the story since the last time we were there.
We are, of course, already experiencing this in DAI with Redcliffe at the very least.

Really, i dont see why it should have to end.
Unlike Mass Effect, theres no huge over arcing impending doom that they could never top. And Unlike Mass effect, Dragon Age team seems to know better then to make story decisions that will break the universe and make sequels impossibly difficult.
But if it must end, and there is no other choice, i believe the series should end with your protagonists all getting on a boat and saying "Were headed off to a new, recently discovered land to seek our fortunes and explore the world!" and when they arrive, its just Jade Empire.
Like, the same Original XBox Graphics and everything.

When it stops making money.

Even with all the nations folks have listed, they could still add more. So, I'm with you. They'll probably keep making them until either they don't sell well or the writers have decided that they have no more stories about Thedas to tell.

I guess it will end when the writers become tired of this lore and decide to change the fantasy RPG franchise.
Or, if they start to not be profitable.
Or, if Bioware closes. (And this can be because of many reasons not Dragon Age related, for example a terrible fiasco with another game, people leaving the company and all talent gone, etc etc etc)
Lets hope they can make a lot of Dragon Ages more. ![]()

I would like to think they will never stop making them. Then again I could see somewhere down the road the writers might come up with a new age they wanted to explore. It could get a name change-while still being in universe. Though, I don't know how well that would work.
Age could be the tie in hook though. The Ages series or something like that.

There are more storys to tell like a large qunari invasion and many other places to visit like tevinter, nevarra. And you must deal with the last of the old gods. I can see 2 or 3 more games. But i dont want it to stop.

There could be made quite a lot
if they wanted it.
But this game can end up as last in franchise , if its ends as fail , bad scores...but if sales are horrible..then with DA2 fail , and this im 100% that series gonna end up closed , or at least delayed for a very...very long time.
But lets think possitive
If there would be future games , then the next one is no brainer , will have smth to do with Qunari invasion and I think Iron Bull will give us a lot of hints about it. Or it could be delayed to 5th game. And for 4th one go straight for Tevinter throat after dealing with mage/templar problem here. There could be made assasin creed type game with antiva rogue dealings ,assassinations etc , then maybe we get Morrigan child as protag in one of games or as the main villain.
But the main problems after this game is...Qunari , and Tevinter. Could be more but lack info of how things end up after this game. And Im 100% Qunari and Tevinter threats wont be solved.

I think that the Dragon Age World is very rich and they should make many games
It isn't restricted to one protagonist (like the ME series so far or The Witcher Series)
There are still many places we as the players haven't seen yet like Nevarra, Anderfels, Tevinter ...
I don't know how many games Bioware has planned
A good way to end the series would probably be if the Dragon Age ends and another Age begins
What do you think?
Mike Laidlaw said in a Game Informer interview that Bioware has a "five game plan and beyond," so it doesn't sound like they plan on ending any time soon.
I'm happy for them to continue the Dragon Age franchise, provided that they continue to explore new terrain and develop other original IP's (which it seems like they are doing, based on what was presented at E3).

There are so many more stories to tell in Thedas. We still haven't even visited or heard of the other continents full of different races and cultures. I think the games could go on indefinitely. The only way I could see them ending is if its no longer commercially successful enough to cover all the hard work put into making them.

Oh come on, we all know that MMO's provide a superior gaming experience to single player RPG's. Just look at the Elder Scrolls Online! What an amazing adventure! Makes me forget that Morrowind even existed ![]()

@TheChosenOne: I hope you realize that I was being sarcastic. If Bioware ever makes another MMO, they are dead to me.
@KathTea: I was nineteen when Morrowind came out. Yeah, I'm an old fart by the standard of this forum I suppose
Not a huge fan of Bethesda's latest efforts, but I definitely rank Morrowind in the top 5 RPG's of all time.
I kind of feel sorry for younger gamers. Raised on a diet of watered down, mass market appeal games with little substance. Fortunately there are companies like Obsidian and inXile which are are trying to rekindle the magic of Baldur's Gate, NWN, Morrowind, Planescape et al.
Not dissing Bioware. I'm obviously looking forward to Inquisition, otherwise I wouldn't be on this forum. Just saying.

Morrowind was fun. Oblivion was fun. So was Skyrim.
I get lost in their worlds often.
