Keep dreaming ^_^

Actually, as much as I'd hate to agree with the OP, Dark Souls 2 has a really great story/plot.

Can we not attack other games in the name of defending Inquisition/Bioware?

Skyrim and Dark Souls 2 were excellent games in their own regard. Inquisition will be too.

Skyrim similarities

  • They both use swords
  • They both use magic
  • They both have dragons

Differences

  • Everything else

:D *chuckles* Well... This also depends on if you think the creatures in Skyrim are dragons and not wyverns. That's a whole other debate in and of itself.

Bethesda makes games for long time playability...less on story , more on content.

Bioware makes games, more on story , less on content (huge open worlds)

But both are great. Remember Skyrim is 3 years old and I along with hundreds of other are still playing it.

The only other game I have played almost as long was Dragon Age:Origins

Having an opinion =/= being a troll.

Also Dark Souls had the richest story of any modern video game.

Many people feel that DA has the richest narrative in modern games. You have essentially come into a Bioware forum and insulted the people that like the games (whether that was the intention or not). It is cool to have your opinion (and I am sure some will agree with you), but perhaps you should be a bit more careful in how you express it, especially if you want anyone to take it seriously not consider you a troll.

Or maybe stop being butthurt?

Or maybe you start applying reason. Going onto a BioWare Forum and saying "the Things BioWare is most popular for are bad" is going to net you strong Disagreement. Even if it wasn't total Bullshit.

I have probably 477 hours logged for Skyrim I love to explore as to the story it's alright nothing to brag about even with all my hours in it nothing is of note worth to remember.

I have over 860 hours logged for Dragon Age Origins & around 506 hours for Dragon Age 2 the characters are memorable the story's are awesome and the High Dragon in DA2's bone pit on nightmare kicks my butt everytime I usually have to drop to hard to keep from getting mad.

I preferred Dark Souls over the second one but I wouldn't call it the greatest story every written and I barely remember any one NPC all I remember is grinding for souls to increase my level and to this day I hate Grinding, I'll go with story & exploration everytime over Grinding.

Comparing Skyrim to DA is like comparing WoW to every MMO out there and saying WoW was the first MMO and everyone else is a pale copy, it doesn't work except for Trolls trying to get a rise out of people.

Silly Kiyo, that's not how you spell Persona 4.

On a more serious note though, I don't really see the Skyrim influence. Other than the more open zones, but I fail to see how that's a bad thing. DAI looks like a more evolved version of the DA2 art style, which is a damn fine thing in my opinion, as I really enjoyed the art style of DA2.

The dragon was not small though. That thing looked like it could swallow Iron Bull whole. And that's a whole lot of qunari.

No you can't. You don't issue move commands. You control the character directly. Second most boss special attacks have very wide range and you have to run as fast as you can to be able to just get out of range. Some smaller bosses use more martial attacks, but the big ones can set the whole terrain on fire for example, and you have to find a safezone directly behind him and as far away as possible. It's perfectly possible that if you don't kite the boss well, you won't even have a safezone and you will die.

Think of it as an action game, lets say devil may cry, or god of war, prince of persia etc. That's the level of control you have for your main character. How can you control 2 of them together even with pause?

That's my point; the difficulty is a consequence of the control scheme. And if you could control more than one character simultaneously (which is a main reason for pause&play), the game would be easier.

That's all I said.

The controls are not intrinsic to the in-game action.

And my point is that's a case of not being able to distinguish a mouse from an elephant.

You think of Dark Souls as a traditional rpg with stats like DA is. It's totally different. It's an action game. It's one where you need active dodge and block, and spatial awareness to survive, not defense stat and enough health to not die before getting healed. It's not designed to promote synergy.

This is not a consequence of the control scheme rather than the direction of the game. Even if you can have perfect control in real time with your mind, if you don't know how to deal with the fight mechanics you will still die again and again and again till you learn. There is co-op mode. If the players don't know how to kill it, they won't. If one of them knows, then he won't need the other. If both know how to kill it, the only thing a party would accomplish would be to increase the damage output. It's irrelevant. If you really want to you can 3 shot some bosses. I can tell you how. Get some resin and the zweilhander, and whack the first boss 3 times. Good luck doing it without dying a good 15 times first. Every fight is a puzzle. It's more comparable to a platformer than a traditional rpg. It gives you all the tools you need to beat the game but you have to find the way to do it. If you don't, there is no possible way to beat it.

None of that is relevant to my point.

But that is. That each fight is a puzzle with a single way to victory changes things quite a bit.

That puzzle gimmick is therefore the source of the difficulty.

Honestly, it sounds like a dreadful game.

Yeah but it wont be as tough as a challenge, I don't know about you but I like hard bosses.

Please tell me more exactly how hard the fights will be. You must have extensive firsthand experience playing the game to make that kind of judgement. I am eagerly awaiting your documentation.

Dragon-Age-Inquisition-30.jpg

... The game itself looks like Skyrim but with a more teenage targeted audience.

Not sure I like the generic characters and smaller fantasy dragons, Bioware should give us some big awesome dragon boss fights like Dark Souls.

The highe dragons are massive and one of the apex predatores in the game and there will be 20 maybe more in the game and other than the old one being one of the strongest. I think the mage mentioned the old one is come which allso sounds like a non tainted old god to me which is basicly another dragon but on the other hand may not be the old one. Back to the point thed ragons are more bigger and powerfull than in the last game.

Really? Because after Dark souls 1 non existent story (Ring 2 bells and something happens  ) I ring 1 and after some time stopped play it and decided not to buy Dark Souls 2, because Dark souls 1 was so boring. And faceless boring NPC not helping. Well I liked to fight giant butterfly.

I disagree, I didn't even play either games as much but spectated my bro a lot and I thought both games had a great plot.

That being said if you didn't like 1, you're not gonna like 2.

The High dragon looks just as big as Kalameet

But not as badass.

She's also much, much easier than Kalameet.

The game has a great plot, you just need to pay attention, read up item desciptions and think about some of the allegorical dialogue. The plot just isn't shoved in your face and it's meant to be that way.

Did you play Dark Souls? Because that's BS, there's a million different strategies, builds and paths to victory. Thanks mainly to the lack of stupid class restrictions. Even so, skill is ultimately the most important part.

@everyone comparing Dark Souls' story to that of the DA series: Please stop, just stop. Both games have great stories and they could hardly be more different. DA's story is set around political struggle in a fantastic society, Dark Souls is a game about personal struggle and fate in a world where society has mostly fallen apart.

Actually StM (Sylvius the Mad) is reacting to the way the game was described to him by the other poster Gtdef. As Engimatick stated Gtdef is not describing Dark Souls accurately.

I surmise that StM has not played the game. If you read the last sentence where StM states that it "Honestly, sounds like a dreadful game."

My description of the boss fights is spot on. My usage of the word puzzle is after 2 posts that I'm trying to explain that every boss has specific combat mechanics that the player needs to familiarize himself and a party won't make much difference if the player can't do this. Not my fault if it's taken out of context. If it was made to support a party then it would be a different game. I don't accept that every game that is more difficult than DA would be "fixed" by adding a party and change the gameplay to support it.

No matter how you tackle a boss, you need to understand it's mechanics. Also there aren't a million ways. There is melee and magic, with minor variations (weapons, weight), and most bosses have an alternative approach like the tower that you do the overhead attack against Taurus Demon, or hacking at the feet of Iron Golem that causes him to lose balance and dropping of the bridge, and some kind of choice (chop the tail first for extra weapon, choose which one to kill first against Ornstein and Smough etc).

Anyway, since it seems my opinion is the obvious minority I'm going to stop. But I'm pretty curious to see where my description is "inaccurate". If there is something questionable, it's to use only a few bosses as examples to make a counter argument against the "party" suggestion. Which is not wrong but I can see why it may be considered cherry picking.

I have yet to fight a dragon in any game that could match the crap your pants badassery that is Kalameet.
