In other words, do you always want to be the first on the scoreboard or you don't care ? Since it can be more complicated than that, I created a poll with 5 possible answers. The link is here.

 

This thread has been inspired by a recent discussion in the topic "Would you judge people on this forum..." in which some participants saying that they didn't care about scores were considered as a minority. So let's figure it out with numbers !

 

Don't hesitate also to explain your choice and which circumstances can lead you to be more or less competitive (with friends ? PUGs ? With a particular character or weapon ?). Thank you for your participation !

 

 

PS : if you're a bad person who don't revive his teammates and massively nuke the last waves only to be the top scorer, this thread is also a good opportunity to confess your sins and relieve your conscience. I think that at least Salarian Jesus will forgive you  !

In this game, no. I like to enjoy playing new builds. In games like Halo etc, I try hard.

Yes, I am competitive - that's human nature, can't help it.

 

I do care a little bit about score, but only to judge myself. If I am not contributing much to the team's success, it clearly shows up in the score. I use that to judge myself and improve. That's how I have improved at the game - judging myself.

 

But I don't judge others on the basis of scores. I don't care if someone outscores me, even if he/she uses a cheese kit. And I don't care about score so much that I go out of my way to outscore others.

 

Most importantly, I won't kick some one just because they come equipped with a cheese kit or OP kit, especially when I've never even played  or heard about that person before. I am not that insecure about my score.

If I'm playing with friends, then yeah, a bit. I would never do a thing like a Talon GI with AC5, nope, no way.

But why would I stress over outscoring pugs? That can be done even if you're reading a book while playing.

Yes I care but I care about my personal performance. I've come to terms with the fact that some players are just better than me at this game and that's fine. I've come to terms that some kits will score higher than others if both players are close to the same in ability. And somewhere in there spawn nuking and some other stuff can muddy the waters. I care about the score, I care a lot more than I should but it doesn't kill me to not be on top.

I'm competitive with myself, not with others. Whether I play a powerhouse kit with the best weapons or some gimped novelty build I always try to do my best, and I always try to improve my game. Incidentally, getting better at playing the game is the no. 1 motivator for me.

I just play for the fun of it no point on being competitive with other players in a team based co op game against al controlled enemies where i could just go play a pvp game where having competitive skills really pays off against other skilled players

Not much. I don't usually aim for the top, but if I get there, I try to stay there. But I always look to improve myself though.

I want to play as well as I can, the odd time I'll get rankled if I am last on the scoreboard and have played poorly.    If i am scoring 2nd ro 3rd in a game that usually means the game was a success with extraction.  If I'm ahead of the board by a fair bit it usually means the game is in serious jeopardy.

I outscored you the other day and it meant everything to me!! It's the pinnacle of my ME3MP experience! My life is now complete.

I don't care about score at all, until I get outscored. Then they are just a grenade spamming / AC V scrub who needs to l2p.

I don't usually care unless some spawn nuker is going apes**t with the rockets then it bugs me if I'm behind them on the scoreboard. Otherwise, if I'm down 2nd or 3rd on the scoreboard it usually makes for a pretty smooth match.

If I truly cared about score I would have quit playing this game at the start    I play so inconsistently that it's pointless to me to get all riled up about score. I rather enjoy getting to extraction and not using all of my equipment to get there. Except missiles- I like to fire them during extraction to get one odd Prime or ravager or phantom a missile to the face. It's damned satisfying. Also it pads my wimpy score.

I'm more competitive with myself than I am with others.

 

That said while I don't care about score a bit of friendly competition is fun. I wont care if I come in second nor will I think it makes me a better player for being in first, but still fun to see who can get top score.

I voted usually no. PvP and genuinely difficult games satisfy my gaming competitiveness. But every now and then, if someone else is using really OP kits all the time, I play as something I like to remind them I'm not trying most of the time...

I'm a bit of a score ******... but it isn't because I need to be first on the board. I just like killing things and get carried away sometimes!

 

 

I can be competitive, but mostly I just play kits I enjoy and don't care if I top score. If it was quick game without many problems and I didn't need to be carried then I'm satisfied.
