I would like to see the pc ui in action as well, one too many bad ports has left me wary of developer comments on the issue.

Or lack of developer comments on the issue.

The only game they've released thus far in which I found the PC UI a bit iffy was Jade Empire, which was ages ago.

I have no reason to doubt DAI will have, at worst, a satisfactory PC UI.

They have commented that there is a separate UI set up:

They still have a 3 months of reveals. Hopefully, they will get around to it before then. If not we could always cancel that pre-order and wait until we see a "Let's Play."

With Divinity gaining some good buzz and topping Steam now-ish would be a good time to reveal PC tactical view gameplay.

LOL, we don't need 'tactical view'.  We have scrollwheels.

I'm sure we will have our own PC UI.

Bioware are not a bunch of asshats like Ubishit.

Bioware is actually competent at building games for the PC. Ubishit is not.

I second this.

Please show us the PC UI, it must be finished, seeing that the game is in beta. And please show us some good RTwP combat.

Except the people who ported ME2 to PC. Not the worst PC port ever, but it was lacking basic mouse and keyboard support in menus.

The cynic in me wants to say that they're far more interested in appeasing the loudest fanbases, which are "FemQuisitor in trailers and not a male or we'll whine on the forums for a thousand posts" and "Which character can I sleep with?" respectively.

yeah definitely people asking for female inquisitor representation is the reason why they haven't gotten around to showing a PC UI yet. of course

I too am pretty tired of the limited console interfaces in games.   I sincerely hope that Bioware is keeping their word on an actual PC UI.    This means keyboard/mouse point and click too... not just the ability to simulate the limited controls on a controller.

I love XCom games, but when The Bureau released it was utter garbage mostly because of the annoyance of having to move the targeting reticle around object instead of easy point and click.   Those are BADLY ported games IMO, and I really don't think developers understand how many sales they lose when they don't take a bit of extra time to develop an actual effective UI.

Yeah it was either "show us a female" or "show us mouse and keyboard". Bioware went with the first and now they will never be able to show you the latter.. All due to those damn women and their "equality" nonsense...

Tactical view will be the ability to issue orders in a RTwP environment from a top-down perspective, and with a PC interface on PC. If this isn't good enough for you because you need to press a button to switch between third person and tactical then I don't know what to say.

I'm actually looking forward to try out the game on my PC with my Razer X360 controller this time. Console UI looks well designed for DA:I. Vibration feedback: ON

Or lack of developer comments on the issue.

While I wouldn't mind developer comments, we've gotten LOTS of comments about how things are theoretically going to work for DA:I. The tactical camera, the improved dialogue wheel, the PC-directed banter, the crafting system that allows a high degree to customization, the improved approval system, the improved companion AI that will be better at path finding and avoiding AoE damage... the list goes on and on about things Bioware has stated "oh, yeah, we've got that fixed - you'll love it."

However, we've seen next to nothing on any of these in the gameplay vids. Five seconds of a zoomed out camera compared to twenty minutes of third person "pew-pew-pew," totally linear conversations without decisions or anything over than "three ways to say yes" - complete with responses labeled Aggressive, Snarky and Diplo... I mean, Direct, Clever and Noble - and three equipment slots with a promise for "tons of customization" through crafting.

Little less talk-talk. Little more walk-walk.

Yeah, their best tactical gameplay video is still the pre-alpha Digi-Expo leaked vid. Ice walls to block LoS and control positioning, dispelling magic, issuing orders to all companions and then allowing time to run before doing it again, AoE spell placement, enemy glyph placement...

Agreed, 100%. That had me on the edge of my seat with the possibilities. These recent gameplay vids seemed to show a complete regression of combat, dialogue and environmental interactivity features.

In the Redcliffe castle video, they did show an example of Dorian examining a locked door and a message that the lock needed to be picked or a key used, then Sera selected the door and picked the lock.  In both cases a cursor was displayed specific to a lock.  I don't know if there will be a cursor for exploration but There is definitely one to select objects.

I can tell you now, you won't get anything like Dragon Age Origins tactical combat out of Dragon Age Inquisition. Why? Isn't it obvious?

In recent years, BioWare has been developing games that focus more on the action and gameplay as opposed to the story. Don't get me wrong, the stories and characters of their games are still great (in my opinion), but, it's obvious to see that, for some reason or another, they haven't been focusing on it like they have in the past, pre-Mass Effect 2 days (I love Mass Effect 2 though, still). This is why their dialogue choices have been getting less and less, and the customization of equipment, skills and the like have been getting less and less as well. It's sad, even though I plan to use the action combat more than tactical combat truth be told.

It's even more apparent when they switched engines completely to the Frostbite 3 engine, which, is meant for action games and shooters as opposed to tactical games and RPGs. It's the reason why BioWare had to tweak and modify the engine so much (according to them in interviews) as to get it to at least be able to run an RPG like Dragon Age Inquisition.

I have no idea why you're assuming that any of that stuff has gone missing between then and now. The most recent video was from E3 and was for the mass audience. It's not surprising they decided to show off the pretty stuff.

They switched to Frostbite because that is the mandatory in-house engine for every EA developer now. Also using Frostbite may have made it easier to implement destructable environments.

I can't imagine why anything would have regressed, especially since they were given more time, not less. Hopefully the fears will be put to rest soon.

I'd just point out I said the videos "seemed to show" a regression, not that I neccessarily think that one has occured. It just seems mind boggling to me that they would be showing the more tactical, feature heavy gameplay a year ago, while the flashy, linear story, cinametic and lowest possible difficulty gameplay vid less than 90 days before release. That's totally backwards.
