...Or see into the future? Has anyone noticed this?

When you first encounter her in DA:O, she knows the wardens are there for their treaties. When you return to kill her, she already knows Morrigan's discovery and plan. If you bring Morrigan to Flemeth's hut to confront her, Flemeth disappears into animal form; another indication of her awareness.

In DA2 she comments about King Cailan if Hawke is not a mage; showing insight into Hawke's contribution at Ostagar. Later on Sundermount she'll remark on your companions. She shows awareness of Merrill's dabbling in blood magic, Fenris' slave history, Isabela's care-free facade, etc. She even foresaw her own possible death.

"A bit of security if the inevitable occurred, and if I know my Morrigan, it already has."

I assumed that was referring to predicting her own death.

Any theories?

I don't think she can see into the future. Reading minds is a possibility but I just think that's it that she's incredibly aware of what's going on around the world. I've just got a image of her in a room where there's a massive mirror that she can look into and tune it to wherever she wants, lol. That or she just there, flying around and snooping.

Or maybe she's just very good at reading people. For example with the treaties, it was a blight so it was fairly likely someone would come looking for them.

No other mages in DA can do this that I know of. Demons on the other hand...

I don't buy it. For example, not only does Flemeth know exactly why the Warden has returned to her hut (when sent by Morrigan) but she knows the cause and what Morrigan wants as proof.

"Morrigan wants my grimoire. Take it as a trophy. Tell her I'm slain."

It's too precise. She seems to be anticipating the Warden even before he/she arrives.

She knows Morrigan very well so can predict what she is going to do. Perhaps Asha'bellanar even planned for Morrigan to send the Warden to kill her (we know she had Hawke as a safety net anyway). She knew the Warden (and possibly Morrigan) would be going to the Circle of Magi (because of the treaties) where they would find the grimoire (Morrigan thinks its in the Circle Tower so its logical that Asha'bellanar would know this too). Even what was written in the grimoire could have been to trick Morrigan. So maybe she's not surprised to see the Warden because that's what she'd intended to happen from the start. As for her motivations, who's to say? Maybe she wants Morrigan to believe she is dead?

Her comment to Ser Jory on the other hand I can't explain. But even if I'll have to admit she's using some sort of magic to predict things I still think she's a master manipulator.

Cheese. Flemeth loves cheese so much it's gifted her with powers other people could only dream of.

In all seriousness, it's very clear she's otherworldly. It's implied she's either an OGB herself or Andraste (though the two are not mutually exclusive. Certainly that's my belief, that Andraste was an OGB). The Dalish have an enormous amount of respect for her, clearly because of her power.

At the same time, Bioware likes to keep things vague for the sake of vagueness. Which... gets old after a while.

I think she's precognitive.  She accurately predicts Jory's demise, discerns which grey wardens have to be rescued out of the ones she could get to for her plans to reach fruition.  She lays the groundwork for her escape if the warden comes after her, and isn't surprised at all to see him/her when they turn up at the hut on Morrigan's behalf.

When she encounters Hawke she predicts his/her future quite accurately (if cryptically).  Not once but twice.

Maybe she can see the future because she's from the future?  It could happen.

My other theory is that she possesses cosmic awareness and thus is capable of limited precognition... probably some kind of Old God trick... there's really nothing else described in Thedas lore that's equivalent to her power level.  I mean, she dies in DAO, then resurrects using a "piece of herself" that was stored in an amulet  months earlier?  Um... now that I think of it, how the hell is any of that possible?  She's a walking deus vult.

Then again, I try not to worry about Flemeth because the more I do, the less convinced I am that the big reveal surrounding her will be impressive.  I mean, they just went overboard with her powers IMO.

Maybe she's just good at predicting events.

For instance, assuming everything Morrigan says is true, then Flemeth knew that the Wardens would travel to the Circle tower to recruit the mages and thus, there was a good chance Morrigan would discover the grimoire which would let her know Flemeth planned to take her body. Logically, Morrigan would take steps to kill her which prompted Flemeth to give Hawke the amulet with a piece of herself in case Morrigan suceeded.

I've wondered about that myself.  From when she's introduced in The Stolen Throne to the last time we met (locked horns is a bit strong) at Sundermount, she's been chock-full of portents and prophesy.  How much is an old windbag and how much is a primal force that should be feared?  Reading all the lore available hasn't helped.  Just going to have to wait and see.  There are times when I really wish I was blessed with the standard issue virtues, like patience.  I'd probably have to do chastity or altruism too, though, which would bore me.

Marethari said she predicted Hawkes arrival by listening to the winds and the birds, watching the stars and listening to her dreams. Flemeth probably knows similar tricks. Especially the bird trick, since she is an experienced Shapeshifter. Morrigan told us that to become one, you'd have to study the animal in great detail and learn its habits. With long periods of studying comes understanding and Flemeth has had plenty of time to study.
So we can assume that Flemeth has a large net of informers at her disposal, in the form of birds, snakes, cats and other animals. The Korcari Wilds are filled to the brim with critters, so Flemeth literally has eyes and ears everywhere.
She's also very old and knows much history. History tends to repeat itself, so a clever person might catch on a pattern in a current event that has happened before and be able to dictate a very possible outcome.

I side with the fact that she knows people well. How many centuries has she lived? How many daughters has she had? If you can't get to know people and get used to reading them after all that experience. Besides - nothing new under the sun heh? She's probably seen it all over and over and over again. Like a Loghain thread. :D

Magic.

Yeah that seems like the sensible explanation. Marethari demonstrates a similar ability by "looking at" Hawke and determining his/her personality. Also a mage.
