Well, since we know what the characters in the new DA game look like, I wanted to discuss their appearance with you. You might say, “Oh no, looks aren’t everything, you can’t decide if a character is amazing by looks alone!” While true, I am superficial and still want to talk about their design. I also will be writing a lot about hairstyles, since I like (am obsessed with) hairstyles. Here we go:

Varric- I don’t think he changed much from DAII. I was hoping there would be more chest hair. Alas, it was not to be.

Sera- Yay, the DAII elves are gone! Well, Sera looks very pretty. At first I didn’t like her hairstyle but I now think it is adorable <3

Cassandra – I know a lot of people don’t like how she looks now, but I can’t agree with that. If anything, she looks even prettier than in the last game. The only thing I disliked was her very tiny neck in the first screenshots. This, however seems to have changed or the screenshots had just an unfortunate angle. I also think the transition to the new engine was well done. Plus, she can totally pull of the short hair.

Vivienne- She is very pretty. Nevertheless, I am a little disturbed that I don’t know how what her hair looks like. She does, however, have an amazing hat and I am slightly jealous.

Dorian - Awesome mustache is awesome

Iron bull – I can forgive the lack of hair, since he makes it up with an amazing eye patch. I am also slightly jealous of that.

Solas – he looks a tad bland to me eyes. Hair would probably fix that. I don’t support the decision to not give him hair. He has nice eyes, though.

Cole – No, no, no, that hairstyle simply won’t do. If I were the Inquisitor, I’d provide him with a hairband. Otherwise he looks appropriately spirit-y.

Blackwall -  A decent hair style and an even better beard. I approve.

Leliana -  I like her new hood. I don’t like that she doesn’t seem to age. I thought more than 10 years passed between DAO and DAI. I wish I my skin would stay that smooth ten years from now. Same goes for Morrigan.

Cullen -  He is handsome and everything, but He does not look at all like the guy from the other two games. On the plus side, his little scar is rather adorable.

Josephine – She is very pretty

Conclusion: I like how Varric and Cassandra translate to the new engine. I think that none of the characters look to generic. I also like that the male models specifically have such a wide range of facial features and body types. I don’t like that, apparently, most women in Thedas are fashion models who aren’t allowed to age.

What do you think?

Vivienne has very short cut hair under her hat.

Damn, she's sexy. Someone I think of cat woman when I look at them designs.

Also makes her look much more dangerous, compared to the grey outfit

It's difficult to say if the females from past DA games can be compared to the females in DAI. Different engine, and if we go by the logic used to explain the new Redcliff castle design, I'd say the devs used this opportunity to design the characters like they have always imagined.

I can see now why Vivienne would wear head. I, too, would compensate had I no hair ;)

Ah, well I wasn't complainig about the design or anything, just stating that I wished that maybe it would be nice to see in the character's faces that time progresses in Thedas. Cullen also does't really look older and I suspect it will be the same with Alistair. I am quite happy that we don't have the design from DAO anymore, where everybody looks like fish people.

His chest goes bald due to old age.
