I'm against it just like I am against gender gating.

Not crazy about the precedent being set but if it's consistent with the character I suppose I can get over it.

Yes.
It makes sense for some characters. If a character is the heir to a lesser noble house that desperately needs to hold onto its titles and reputation, then if marrying an elf would ruin that reputation, that character may side with the family over a relationship with an elf. Kind of like Samara turning down for personal reasons.
Or, another example would be a Dalish elf who wishes to return to being Dalish and is all about being Dalish, that is an elf only romance then.
Perhaps a dwarf companion is just not attracted to other species.
Perhaps someone has a bad experience with humans, qunari, or elves, that it makes a romance not an option.
As with anything, it should be down to the character, and I'm glad that bioware makes characters and story first, and then adds romance afterwards if and where it fits.

If I found a character interesting enough I would just replay as the required race, gender, or alignment.

Now that I know there are six romances that aren't race-gated, I'm neutral. It seems like every race/gender/orientation combo will have two choices, so having an extra one for some races is OK with me.

If it serves the story, yes.

Story and lore-wise they do make sense why I kinda like them but I don't like how they potentially limit your gameplay. So I'm kinda against them ^^

Not solid restrictions, but I wouldn't mind seeing racial bias that we can end up getting past.

Was for it before Bioware explained the animation difficulties, am very much for it now. If it really does do what Bioware says, and allows certain romances to be available that wouldn't be available otherwise then its existence sounds pretty darn reasonable. Even without the animation restrictions I like the idea of a character rejecting you on looks alone, and race is the best way for the game to easily determine appearance. Perhaps the character can't get over the height difference, or perhaps they really did have a bad experience with a certain race that clouded their ability to develop a romantic attraction to that race.

When I first learned about it, I organized my complaint in written form: http://thaeonblade.d...mance-460660063
Upon learning that only two of the options are actually race-gated, the above seems like a silly overreaction though I still stand by it. I'm still against race-gating at all considering that it adds nothing that isn't already there.
But since it's only been implemented in such a limited way, I'm going to wait and see whose gated and how it's justified.

I am not against it provided it is appropriate to the character. However, I think it should be made clear to the PC in game. So you are given the opportunity to flirt with a character but they then explain why it is never going to happen.
Whilst I come to these forums now, once the game ships I will avoid doing so until I have played the game through at least once, so there is no chance of accidentally picking up a spoiler. Previously I have played games and have been puzzled why a character didn't seem interested in me, only to discover later from Wiki or forums that I was the wrong race. May be for some people it is glaringly obvious but for me it wasn't.
A similar comment applies to characters where you can only pursue a romance if you have never flirted with anyone else (how were you meant to know that with Sebastian when you couldn't even recruit him until the second act?). Also when your love interest walks out on you, not being able to sleep with someone on the rebound but ultimately have a reconciliation with them because apparently they think you are happy with someone else (but you never get the opportunity to discuss it with them). Yet that character can ignore you for 3 years whilst you remain in ignorance and then you forgive them with the words, "I always knew". Actually not every PC is going to be great at psychology and the words should have been, "because the forums told me so".
So I don't mind restrictions whether for race or sexual orientation or whatever provided it is made clear in game. However, since so much information has now been revealed about the majority of LIs in advance of release, it would be helpful to fill in the gaps on the remainder.

I'm against race gating. If it's for story reasons, they should make it harder for some races to romance a certain character but not impossible.

I couldn't care less.
I suppose that it makes Sense for some Characters storywise, but I am kind of OCD when it comes to Symmetry and race gating could (and will) thorw a Wedge in that.

For it.
It's only natural that some people prefer to not get intimate with other races. If we, as humanity, would suddenly meet an alien race. I don't think everyone would want to get intimate with them even if they were hot.

Against it.
Indeed - I mean I myself find other races (as in Dragon Age and even Mass Effect) very attractive and - as long as the characters don't look like tentacle-monsters etc. - I am against what I consider racism/speciesism
(I am more interested in the person behind the face, not the face itself, that's why I don't see say Liara in ME as an alien, I see her as Liara and I like her!)...If I wanted children that might be different (as that normally only works within ones own species - but in DA it does not work this way, that's why it is a moot point even than!)

It makes sense from a story perspective and as long as no race/gender/sexuality combination ends up having only one option, I'm cool with it. DA:I seems to give everyone at least two options, so no complaints from my side.
