For some characters it make sense. Varric is a good example of how a character could be race gated. He's been shown in the past that he's not into humans at the very least.

Don't like it.. but, just like gender-gating (which i absolutely hate, since i prefer to play only as male characters) it's needed every now and again to add a bit "realism" to a game's characters which is nice although frustrating at times.

As long as it is used to better define the character in question, then I am for it.

Race gating = story gating.
It is a more authentic progression from DA2 where everyone was LI for anyone.

I think race-gating LIs has the potential to add to the development of the companions as unique entities. It's so tempting to make them chameleons who have to change to suit the wishes of the inquisitor. This way it's the inquisitor who has to conform to the desired LI rather than the other way around to have the match if only so-and-so will suffice. I think that's fitting and shows a lot of respect for the characters they've created.

I don't think it's a good idea based on what we know. Maybe it was inevitable due to animation issues, but I find it difficult to see any story purposes that truly justify it.

Depends on how they do it. Can't really decide until we know who is gated and why.

I'm for it. It's a medieval world full of bigotry and petty hatred, it makes perfect sense that some characters would be disgusted by the idea of sleeping around with Qunari or so on.
I don't even mind that some characters can't imagine themselves as having an intimate relationship outside of their race, even if they're not hostile or even bias against other people. It's just a matter of taste and when it comes to something as significant and important as love, it's entirely up to them who they're willing and able to love.

Against it. However, so long as I know who's gated before release, I can work with it. Largely, I've made my peace with it.

I don't see how it enhances my experience without significant metgaming. Either I have access to the romance, in which case, it's unlikely that the character will mention who they won't romance ("Well, it's a good thing you're a human because......") or I don't have access to the romance, in which case I'm getting less content in that playthrough.
For me, it comes down to two things:
1.) Not everyone enjoys playing every option for protagonists and that's okay. I have no interest in playing as a human or elf. If a character is gated against dwarves and qunari, then I am more inclined to never romance that character then roll a human or elf. But that's just me. I understand the argument for people who are interested in playing all of the races, both genders, and multiple sexualities. For them, race-gating is a non-issue. For everyone else, it's limiting the experience in some way.
2.) As Maria very astutely pointed out on the first page, in the only game with race-gating, the groups that were gated against were half-orcs, dwarves, and gnomes. In other words, the less played options. If a character were gated against humans, I might be more interested. But most of the people I've seen speculating have specifically used the "humans are the most played race, so no way will they gate against them" argument (with Varric being the only exception). So, to me, that actually feels much less like "encouraging people to play other options" so much as "encouraging people to play as humans".
Of course that's just speculation on my part. Perhaps the race-gating actually will gate against humans in DA: I, but I'm not holding my breath on it. If it does, then at least it will make appreciate that the gating doesn't always favor one particular race. If humans have access to all 8 romances and the other races don't? Then I will continue to find race-gating unnecessary and the arguments for it to be fairly weak.

For it. If we're going to include differing sexualities at all, race-gating makes sense. Once we get into class-gating, THEN I might have a bit of a problem.

Are you for it? Against it? A simple yes or no will suffice, I just want to get a general feel of how its viewed by everyone.
Personally, I'm for it, can't really explain why. Maybe I like the idea of having to step out of your comfort zone to see more content?
I'm against it, but then again I'm also against gender gating. But then again if they are going to restrict romances based on gender then they might as well do race too. Be careful what you wish for.

Largely indifferent considering it's only two of the eight romances, and without more context as to the reason why, don't have enough information for me to feel strongly for or against.
