All for it. Adds more dialogs, more re-playability, more "character" to the character. Could not even hope for something like this! Now just very curious who would that be?

I am cautiously optimistic about it.

I am not a fan of race gating. The main reason I am not a fan of it is because I fear it will only give the more popular races something extra while making the least popular even less played than ever before because especially the least popular race (dwarves) may get the short end of the stick. I just don't want race gating to end up forcing people who do like dwarves to also have to play humans just because they get more romance options.
Even though I dislike race gating I don't deny it does add more depth to the characters. At the same time I think they should have also gone the extra mile, class gating if they truly want to add depth to characters. If a character has had many bad experiences with mages I don't quite understand how they can get romantic with a mage.

Yes, should add replay value. Give more insight into why a certain character doesn't like such and such a race. Make the experience feel more relate-able if I can even use that word i.e prejudice, racism, stuff some have to face in life unfortunately. Or perhaps certain characters just don't find a particular race attractive which is believable too. Not everyone should be easily available I think, hell it would give me an excuse to try out more inquisitors.

For it. As long as it doesn't go overboard, as in more than half the romances are race-gated.

While I agree with the rationale behind this type of limitation, race gating isn't going to convince me to play as a Qunari (or w/e)... Personally, I don't really mind skipping the romances if need be, but I just wanted to take issue with this point, since I've seen it mentioned multiple times. If a person is dead set against changing races or genders, this probably isn't going to change their minds.

Fair enough, I like to mix and match myself, try out other routes. I'm not even sure who/if I'm gonna try a romance in this game yet. Haven't thought that far ahead.

They've only said that there is supposed to be two. Iron Bull was going to be a third race-gated LI, but John Elper and the rest of the cinematic team worked very long hours and were able to get past the technical limitations. The two race-gated LIs are supposed to be that way due to story reasons.

It all depends on what the love interest is race gated to. For example, if Varric is a love interest, the common thought is that he would be race gated to dwarves and be straight. Dwarves were actually the least popular race picked in DAO so having a popular character like Varric restricted to dwarves would make sense to cause that race to be played more. It would also have the added bonus of making sense storywise as Varric has shown a preference towards dwarven women in the past (what very little preference we saw) and has stated that he is not into humans.

Race-gating is very much understandable. Now, the idea of Race-gating because of technical limitations fills me with irritation, but Race-gating due to the characters themselves makes me happily smile and nod my head.
Much like my happy nod at Sera being restricted to F!Inquiistors, that is part of her character, what she likes and doesn't like. Frankly put, she prefers other women and that's just who she is. People who want her to at least be Bi are wishing for a great injustice to all the work, love, and care some one has put into that character just to fullfill a selfish want and desire.
The same can be said for Race-Gating. Varric is the best example of this, given our history and what we know of the guy. He doesn't dig humans - It's as simple as that. It's in his character, it's who he is, him being race-gated isn't Bioware being dismissive of the wants of it's audience, it's them being true to the character and his own wants and desires. People will argue, 'Why not? He's just a fictional character, we can make him whatever we want!' and fail to see the point of it. It's not like some one can go up to someone in the LGBT crowd and try to 'make' them straight because so-and-so wants to be with em, and nor should we try. It's really no different with these characters, one should respect them as the creators intended them to be, even if you absolutely loath their characters (Anders, I'm looking at you).
That being said... where's my clown romance?

NO, I am against it utterly!
If I want to make little Qunari babies with Cassandra then I should be able to! This is America! Where 100 bald eagles fly over inexplicably purple-colored mountains!

If they're going to gate by gender, I'd rather they also gate by race. One or the other just seems arbitrary. I wouldn't mind gating against mages or some specializations, either.
I wouldn't mind 4-6 characters that are available to everyone, either, though.

Yeah I know, I responded to race-gating in general, not just in Inquisition.

For it.
I prefer that some of the potential LIs aren't interested in the protagonist, whether that is because of his or her gender, species, actions, or politics.
In my ideal game, companions would neither be race nor gender-gated but would only go for PCs that show the 'right' personality or politics.
But lots of gating is due to technical considerations, so I doubt that will ever happen.

I believe that with the 2 race-gated characters, it is for personality reasons and I believe that is a good reason.

I'm potentially for it, depending on how it's done. I'm optimistic about its implementation in DA:I.

Well, I personally will play all races (thought humans are my least favorite), so it won't be much trouble for me.
However, I dislike restriction, which is why I was fine with having all characters be Hawke-sexual. It made it so I could romance anyone without any dissatisfaction on what my character had to be like.
The question then becomes realism vs. player restriction, really. And it's hard to say which one gets precedence when. But, I would play any Bioware game regardless of which way they went because I'm that much of a diehard fan. ![]()

I'm not for restrictions when it comes to the romances; they're arguably my favorite thing about BioWare games. Why would I like something that restricts how I play?
I know which characters I want to play; not sure why it would make me happy to have less options than more when it comes to romance.
I'm also wary to see how it will work. It doesn't make sense for a character to just say "I'm not attracted to dwarves... EVER. NO MATTER WHAT." But I assume it won't be like that; it'll be something like the Iron Bull saying he doesn't want to go to bed with anyone he could injure. (I know Bull is not race-gated, but it was a good example of how race-gating could work without making a love interest simply racist.)
