Leliana and Morrigan romance - Why not?

Hey,

I just wanted to know (from the devs if possible), why the advisors are not romancable?

Can't be that you at Bioware are that afraid of a **** storm (I mean you got one with ME3 and didn't care all that much IMHO (EC-DLC does not count...It's a band aid/a patch at best)), can it?

I mean, after over 10 years even romanced advisors (Morrigan and Leliana) should be over their pining for the warden (after all: that character up and disappeared) and should want a relationship once more (and if rightly done, this would be really interesting, would it not? - There might be some insecurities pertaining to the wardens disappearance (like having to assure them that you will not leave in the middle of the night and never come back etc.))

So again:

Why did you (devs) decide that you will not offer those characters for romance?

greetings LAX

Leilana is not romanceable because of her (potential) relationship with the Warden; Morrigan, the same (and not an advisor, anyway).  Best not to tread on anyone's toes - either in Thedas, or in player's heads.

Cullen and Josephine are romanceable.

I don't see why Leliana couldn't be a romance option considering that we'll have the Keep. Simpy have her marked as not having been romanced and boom, romance open.

But I can see why they avoided that so they could cut costs or something.

I think the best reason for Leliana not to be a romance is that we have been there and done that. (Um, so to speak.) If people really want to romance her, they can boot up DAO and do it there. I'd rather have them concentrate their limited resources on the eight characters (!) we've never had a shot at before.

Cullen and Josephine are both romances, so your thread title is a little misleading.

Your thread title is rather misleading. Morrigan is not an advisor.

I also much rather see romances with new characters over the developers rehashing former romances because thanks to limited resources it would limit the amount of new romances.

Two advisors already are romanceable and only one isn't: Leliana. I think that's already enough, why should every advisor be romance option?

exactly, not everyone is going to want a piece of you in game, it doesnt work that way in real life and nor should it in a fictional setting

So it took 2 sentences before this turned into "I'm posting about something completely unrelated to it, so this seems like the perfect time to b*tch about ME3!"

You did good, son. You did good.

I thought this thread was going to be about the possible drawback of romancing an advisor rather than a companion and getting less content than if a companion was chosen.  I was mistaken.

I know a few people who after a sequence of bad relationships just decided they were too much bother and, as far as I know, haven't had a relationship since. Not everyone wants one. And there's always the possibility that they're in an existing relationship. Or that they think - as I do - that dating people you work with is a bad call for them.

First off , Both Cullen and Josephine are Advisor romances , Morrigan is not a advisor (nor romancable) , Leliana isn't a romance because Bioware has stated that any previous LI in a game will not be a LI again.

Except in DA:O Leliana was boring and thoroughly unappealing whereas from what we've seen she looks incredible in DA:I

Personal opinion though

Two out of three advisors are romance options I don't see what the issue is if one isn't a LI really.

Why did they not make Morrigan and Leliana romance options?  Because they didn't want to write romance options for them, and wanted to go a different route with the characters.  It's their characters, they can do what they want with them.

Of course, let's scrap two new possibilities for two characters we already thoroughly know and have had the chance to romance before if we wanted to. /sarc

Leliana has changed over the years though, she isn't the same woman that she was in DA:O.

I have a feeling Leliana is going to die as part of the main storyline
