So long as we are limited to American/British accents we are effectively limited to, at least for humans, characters of Ferelden, Tevinter or Free Marcher heritage.

And I'd really like to play an Orlesian one day.  A man can dream, even if that dream is nigh on impossible.

The fact we have more then just one is a nice bonus, and wanting more in the future is always nice.

But I'd like the idea that we could be adult and not insult the ones were given? Also considering those accents probably make up most of the fan base @_@

Everyone here is being adult. People are just stating their personal preferences.

It's not immature to dislike an accent, it's just a personal opinion.

If I want the Orlesian accent, I'll play in French. Problem solved.

Nah, I understand though. It would've been fun playing with an Orlesean accent.

I wonder how the Quizzies will sound in French though.

If we follow the DA trend, next game the human PC will be Orlesian....... probably.

Accents are more tolerable on NPCs than when voiced by the player.    I could never finish a male Hawke playthrough...  Just.. couldn't ... take...it.

My favorite female voices (accents) in games are  ...

Female Sith Warrior in SWTOR and Samantha Traynor in ME3.

Antivan would be nice, I'm getting tired of hearing english and american accents in video games.

Antivan would have been a decent option, but not preferred.

Gonna be kind of honest and brutally American here but that doesn't seem that different from the Orlesian accents and it still grates on my ears. I prefer German and Austrian accents though so I am probably not the best person to be giving their two cents.

on that note do any of the countries have German accents? possibly the Anderfels?

Oh god, I'm part German and grew up there and the German accent is absolutely attrocious.

I'd take a French/Orlesian accent over German any day. Though I'm really sick of every fantasy setting having British accents all around, it just gets incredibly monotonous very fast. BW at least has the courtesy of giving us some variety in accents of the Isles.

I wanted an Orlesian accent and would have gladly traded in the North American or English accent for it.

Do you think we will ever have a protagonist with this accent or will we always be doomed with the posh British voice-set and its cousin, the modern American?

I would love to play as protagonist with an Antivian accent some day. Who else is with me on that?

I hardly see how we are *doomed* with always using English / American voices. If they wanted to include other's I wouldn't care as long as a English / American voice is a option , If i was forced to have a Orlesian one.. very likey would play muted. As for the others ,

Antivan- maybe ,

Rivani- based off how Isabela sounds could probably stand it

Nevarran- Based of how Cassandra sounds , probably would be fine

Anderfels - don't know if we have heard that one yet.

In a perfect world , we'd have 1 of every accent for both genders but that's just a impossible thing to have happen lol

If I recall correctly, the Rivaini also speak with a British accent.

I'm very happy with the choices we've been offered for DAI. If they offered an "Orlesian" accent in a future game, that might be nice, so long as they gave a different option for everyone that dislikes it.

Yes, I would definitely have gone with an Orlesian voice for the PC if given the option.  Preferably the guy who did the voice of Hubert Bartiere in DA2.  It might sound... unconventional... coming from an elf, but w/e...  I'm sure there's a few in Orlais.

If stated like how you did then yes very mature. How OP stated it IS immature. So far many responders are being mature about the topic. Yes disliking a accent is a opinion but if presented like your post is acceptable instead of how OP stated it.

I agree a topic to show we love the idea of more accents in the future. I'm just wary of these topics because they usually go into bashing threads too easily :/ I just want that boot to be the case all the time...

So long as it's not a ridiculous/hilarious caricature like the Comtesse De'Launcet, it would be interesting.

Used to loathe French accents but now love them. They are tied with Spanish, falling behind American and English.

I'm fine with British and American accents.

I would defintely dislike welsh or whatever accent the Dalish talk in. I really disliked most of the accents of Dalish in DA2. Merril was the most tolerable and even her accent annoyed me sometimes. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, I forgot about Isabella :/

Still, that leaves out Orlais, Antiva, Nevarra and the Anderfels (assuming Anders' Fereldan accent is due to being raised in Ferelden, there's still the chance that the people of the Anderfels have their own distinct accent).

French accent in English sounds exactly like French spoken language?

If the Orlesian accent was less in line with "Hollywood French" and more like the french voice in Saint's Row 4, then I'd definitely go for it.

Well ... personally, I'm happy as it is. I use video games to help improve my English skills, after all - and constantly listening to heavy accents might get some weird pronunciations stuck in my head!

But I wouldn't mind the option as long as there's also the option to have a British or American or at least not very prominent accent.
