I do wonder if his fate might be entwined in a personal quest of cassandra's.
If he is alive and in the game I hope Cassandra can end up with him, sort of like Aveline & Donnic.

Adrian killed him for being a reasonable mage.
HA HA HA.
That's so classic her.

Despite her never having actually done anything of that nature?

I admit, I don't know her character too well, so it was mostly me making a joke.

Got it.
I'd prefer to see them be just old lovers turned friends relationship.
I'd like to see Varric/bianca as the Aveline/Donnic.
Yea, we only need one Aveline/Donnic
I'd rather some companion characters had romantic relationships with others, rather than remaining single if the Inquisitor doesn't pursue them. Sort of like Ashley & Vega or Tali & Garrus, although with the ME characters those were portrayed more as casual flings than anything serious.

Agreed. Adrian would frame him and let others do the dirty job.

Only if it was for a vital cause.

Now now, it's entirely possible she simply killed him with friendly fire.
While out horse riding one day in 9:28, a few years after he and Cassandra had went their separate ways, his horse caught it's foot in a rabbit hole and sent him flying from the saddle. He snapped his neck and died instantly.
I hope Cassandra at least mentions him and the events of Dawn of The Seeker. He may be a first enchanter of the White Spire(Idk, my lore is a little spotty).

I want both of them really badly, but I agree that much like the Highlander, there can only be one. ![]()
He killed himself after finally realizing that the peck on his cheek was platonic.

If this were the case I really hope it's completely optional content, because it would ****** me off if I were forced to do it again like with Aveline.

You could decide not to complete Aveline's companion quest in DAII. It was completely optional.

If you wanted her to stay with you at the end, then no it wasn't optional. When I say optional I mean separate from the rest of the game mechanics, as in not a companion loyalty quest.

I didn't particularly like that particular companion quest. The setup didn't make much sense, and the awkwardness was a bit too much for me. But I did like that we did get to see Aveline move on from her deceased husband and find some genuine happiness between all of the tragedy that happened in DA2. So, out of curiosity, what is your objection to the concept?

No matter how you put it, the quest itself was still completely optional. That you couldn't live with the consequences of not doing the quest, is your own problem.

Wait, what? ![]()
I'm pretty sure I have a save where I intentionally avoided The Long Road so she wouldn't marry Donnic, and she still stayed with Hawke at the end...
Honestly I'd prefer Cassandra and Regalyan be the Miranda and Jacob of dragon age; they had a relationship, it didn't work out, and now they're on friendly terms with each other and aren't getting back together.
I think how important the loyalty quests were in DA2 depended on your choice at the end. If you chose the Templars then I think Averline would have gone along with you regardless but you needed high on the slider of friendship/rivalry if you chose the mages. In fact I'm not sure if you even needed that because first run I seemed only a short way along on the friendship scale, sided with the mages and spared Anders, and Averline still stayed loyal. I can't remember if I did Long Road or not on that run. She spent much of the run through Low Town insisting that Anders would hand himself in once it was all over.
Anyway it would seem that they have ditched that method of calculating loyalty, thank goodness. Now it is going to be entirely down to our general conduct throughout the game, which seems much more appropriate. It always seemed daft to me that I had maxed out the friendship/rivalry scale with certain characters by the beginning of Act 2 and so their attitude towards me would never chance despite the fact that my own behaviour had adapted as the result of events. I am particularly thinking of Anders with this one.
I don't really see Cassandra as someone who is particularly looking for a romantic attachment, so would not still be holding some longing for Galyan, but that it sort of creeps up on her and takes her by surprise with the Inquisitor. However, if that is not the case and she does harbour regrets, then that would be okay with me. Where Galyan might be important is regarding her attitude towards mages and the decisions you may take with regard to them. This would then explain why her attitude might not be as totally hard line as you might expect. Actually given Justinia's attitudes towards mages that are displayed in Asunder, you can see why Cassandra and Leliana would be her most trusted assistants.
What happened to Regalyan?
Dead in a ditch, drunk in a bar in Madagascar, who knows.
I made a thread about this around a month ago! I'm glad I'm not the only one who cared (even slightly) for him!
I'll be pissed (in a good way) if he dies in the summit (but we can at least get to see him and talk to him for a while).
Also off-topic but did you guys know that "Arrow to the Knee" is nordic for married?
That's almost better than what the spanish use for wife - the same word as handcuffs (!) (la esposa - wife or handcuff)
greetings LAX
