I know much of the forums are abuzz about the romances, the companions, and the advisers... but reigning things back to focus on your Inquisitor, what will your first Inquisitor's alignment be?

Let's go old-school and use DnD's alignments:

Lawful Good - Your standard loyal Paladin who is trustworthy, reliable, protective of innocents, but may follow the laws of society (or religion) to the point of self-destruction, so long as the laws do not demand him to commit an inherent evil (like killing a child or running down unarmed civilians)

Neutral Good - The kind of gal who seeks to help out anyone in need; she takes time to understand others' points-of-view, and always tries to find a peaceful solution for any conflict

Chaotic Good - A vigilante and a champion of the oppressed; he breaks the law either because they are unjust or they aren't doing enough for the common man... never afraid to stir up trouble, and probably has the most fun of the "good" archetypes

Lawful Neutral - She's probably a guardswoman who has great faith in the society she lives in and the government that leads it; she is typically unquestioning of orders, to the point of committing unfair acts despite personal feelings about doing so

True Neutral - A survivalist and an opportunist, he's always looking out for himself and his own... while he doesn't necessarily go around breaking rules, he understands the necessity of it. He knows the world can be cruel, but at the same time it can be beautiful

Chaotic Neutral - The prankster, the lover of life, and the most confounding, her motivations are rarely clear (even to herself). She has an endless zest for laughter and passions. Called crazy and stupid by others, she's unpredictable, she's not well-liked, and she is often alone... but she is free

Lawful Evil - Your conqueror, he stands at your borders with only one thing in mind, to dominate you and your world. If not he who will conquer, then his followers, who will commit the most heinous crimes to advance their cause

Neutral Evil - A pragmatic kind of temptress who sees opportunity in everything at the cost of anything. While her main concern is herself, she is vindictive and vengeful, and takes great pleasure in seeing her enemies slowly suffer and lose control

Chaotic Evil - Finally, the evil to end all evils... he has no real allies, because they get in the way; he is lustful and greedy, but for no other purpose than to be lustful and greedy... almost anything he does is out on a whim, unplanned, and confusing, but most definitely destructive

I, myself, will start with a "Chaotic Good" Inquisitor... he will be charming and the common folk will love him because of all his good deeds, even though the leaders of the Inquisition might frown upon his non-diplomatic decisions and crazy antics.

I guess whether she can either be described as Chaotic Good or Lawful Evil, depending on who you ask.

It depends. I tend to pick neutral good as a starting alignment. However, in most alignment based games I've played my character becomes lawful good before very long. Even game masters have altered my alignment on me despite some chaotic behavior. Apparently my characters are lawful good with some very light chaotic tendencies.

One of the funnier comments I've received from a game master was. "You're lawful good with a psychosis." My character took killing very casually whenever it came to achieving her goals. I honestly thought she was neutral or even lawful evil but apparently motives matter.

Hmm, either True Neutral or Chaotic Good for my first Inquisitor. Lawful Evil for my second, no doubt.

1st: Male Dalish mage

2nd: Female Qunari warrior

Male Qunari Rogue: Neutral Intelligent

Female Human Mage: Not-Nice Good

Female Dwarf Warrior: Ruthless Neutral

Male Elf Warrior: Naive Good

I just can't intentionally play a Chaotic or Lawful Stupid character.

I always end up chaotic good, and rarely play evil, but try to do so at least once to see the differences.

Male Qunari Warrior. Following the Qun. Would probably classify as Lawful Evil in DnD Standards.

I will most definitely let a Neutral Good Playtrough (Elven Fem Mage) and a Chaotic Neutral Playtroguh (Dwarven male Rogue) follow.

I'll probably say I'll be something and then end up doing something else entirely when I'm actually playing the game, but for now I think True Neutral.

My Cadash will be neutral good. Good as people typically see as good but not afraid to sometimes sway from the rules to get there.

Chaotic good for sure!  It's how I prefer to go about things always, pretty much.

My first Inquisitor is going to be a Dalish mage that I have headcanon'd as following Vir Atish'an, so he'll definitely be Neutral Good.  Interesting that you brought this up, though.  It'll definitely help me define where I want my subsequent playthroughs to fall on the moral compass.

I played lawful neutral once ... once. I destroyed the game because I refused to back a rebellion to put the rightful heir on the throne. My reasoning was that the current ruler was running things perfectly lawfully, so I saw no reason to cause the chaos of a rebellion, heir or no, and I saw nothing in the heir's camp to convince me his rule would be any better executed than the one currently in power.

It might be fun to give lawful neutral another spin ...

My canon Warden was a Neutral Evil/True Neutral and Hawke was a Lawful Neutral.

My first playthrough (female Qunari mage) will probably be chaotic good. Not afraid what others will think of her actions and will do what she feels right even if it causes friction between her and others. My Elven rogue will be more chaotic neutral, all over the place and very sassy.

Neutral good. She will try to help people as much as possible and she understands that a measure of order is necessary.

I was leaning towards chaotic evil, but I wouldn't use the terms lustful or greedy to describe my Necro, nor would his actions ever be called confusing.  He breaks down the walls of stereotypes, a trendsetter in the way of destruction.
