Pre ordering games doesnt seem to be a smart decision you give them youre money without seeing the actual game the only thing you have for assurance is a bunch of promises and biowares last two games were not all that great and they did not keep their promises. So pre ordering a Bioware game at this point seems like a bad move.
How many are pre ordering the game?

I'm definitely going to buy the game, but I don't see any reason to pre-order it.

I intend to pre-order but I have what might be a silly question.
If I preorder through Amazon, will I still get the exclusives that are being offered? Or do I need to pre-order through a more official source like Game Stop?
That is a good question. I never thought of it. I went to Bioware's website, and they had Amazon, Game Stop, and other vendors, so I am not sure how they know which is pre ordered vs which is not. Would anyone know?

I just preordered today the game because I found a retailer that did a 25% discount if you preorder with 2 months time.
It made me wonder how much money do the retailers get from the game, since that 25% discount seems to be or their margin alone... And still win money...

25%?!?!?! WOW! You hit the jackpot. I have seen no discounts to date.

Each retailer knows and I assume there are codes.

Amazon and Gamestop appear to be the same:
Gamestop:
Dragon Age Inquisition Deluxe Edition- Skyhold Throne - Every ruler should sit in a place of high honor, but as the Inquisitor you will have the greatest of all, fashioned from an ancient dragon skull.
- Red Hart Halla - Traverse the perilous, living world atop this great-horned beast.
- Bog Unicorn - Once belonging to an evil marauder, this unique mount has returned to inspire fear into those who would oppose you.
- Bring the world of Thedas wherever you go with the digital soundtrack
- Bonus digital content - to be announced!
- Also receive the mighty Flames of the Inquisition Gear:
- Multi-class Weapons: Smite your enemies with the Flames of the Inquisition weapons arsenal. Whether staff or daggers, greatsword or war hammer, these weapons will make short work of your foes.
- Inquisitor Armor: Protect yourself against the onslaught of enemy attacks by suiting up in the Flames of the Inquisition Armor.
- Armored Mount: Flames of the Inquisition gear also includes a valiant steed, complete with its own set of Inquisition Armor forged from the flames of battle.

I currently have the PC Deluxe Edition pre-ordered through Origin, but I might end up canceling that and pre-ordering an Xbox 360 copy instead. It will depend on what the final recommended system specifications are, and whether or not I feel my PC can meet those requirements.
waiting for the demo now [...]
BioWare does not plan to release a playable demo.

I've pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition. Dragon Age II was a slight disappointment for me but I still enjoyed it more than most games in 2011. The focus on story and characters with enjoyable gameplay is something very rare in games. Off the top of my head the only studios I trust to deliver on both the feels and the fun are BioWare, Naughty Dog, the Persona team, and Kojima Productions. Since those companies don't exactly have an Ubisoft release schedule I usually have the finances and the motivation to buy day one. And if I know I'm buying day one, I might as well preorder and get a few bonuses.
It's the same for me. DA2 was a bit of a disappointment but it was still a good game and I was satisfied with it as a game but not as a sequel to DA:O.
I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition as well since I'm liking what they are showing me right now.

I put Pre-ordering in the same vein as people who sell their games which are unfinished. Oh I'm sorry still in alpha and beta. Paying for games that aren't done yet is just silly.

I am not pre-ordering.
I am currently doing my masters and I want to finish my coursework as well as my dissertation by early next year so I can continue to PhD quickly. Sacrifices have to be made and so I am not playing games until I finish my master first. I frequent game forums and that is about it. After that, then yes. If I buy DA:I now, I will have the urge to play it and get distracted.
Bioware has flunked plenty of games that I pre-ordered from them such as DA2 and ME3. EA has flunked a lot more games that I pre ordered from them as well such as NFS. So I am being cautious this time around.

I pre order the digital deluxe edition, only because it seems that the devs take their time to make the game.

While critical of the faults in Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age II, I'm not so against those games that I can't enjoy playing them, especially Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. With that in mind, Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the first game ever that I intend to pre-order.

I'll pre-order it, but I need to know what that last secret thing that comes with the deluxe edition is. If it's all cosmetic stuff I don't mind getting the regular edition instead.

I caved in and pre-ordered the standard edition at Best Buy a few weeks ago. I was there to get blank DVD's and I happened to have some extra money so I thought "Why not?" and did a $30 down-payment. I had been hoping to wait to buy it used too. LOL.

The deluxe edition is a Game exclusive in the UK so no choice in retailer involved if you want the deluxe edition in the UK you are buying it from Game. So despite past problems (the last game I pre-ordered with them was Mass Effect 3 and they stopped trading just before the release date) it looks like I'm pre-ordering from Game again. ![]()

Yep. pre-ordered. Ended up getting it digitally.
NZ's hard copy store has a monopoly and charges something like $120 for most new releases (in DAI's case, $110), and the online competitor which uses converted british prices is usually around $70 (in DAIs case, $75)... but they hardly ever have special editions because they're so small. Not willing to pay ~$35-50 for an extra in-game armour set or included soundtrack!
Origin's version was still more expensive than the converted british prices, but what else is new? Even with the huge mark-up for a closed market, its still cheaper than the monopoly-outlet by twenty full bucks. Only $15 more than the converted one, and that is acceptable seeing as I get to preload it and start right away.
I'll miss not having a case, I'll admit...

Blaming the developpers for people's blind faith, wut.
Of course there IS bullshit, and a lot of it, but if people preorder a game, they have no one to blame but themselves if it doesn't live up to their expectations.

I have the Xone paid in full for deluxe version, paying off the 360 version (not determined if keeping one or the other).
