Ooh, sounds fun! I've got a couple, but this is the most fleshed out concept, and will probably be my first playthrough.
Name: Reynardine Trevelyan (Female Human Rogue)
Concept/BG: Born in 9:20 Dragon to a well-to-do Free Marcher merchant family, Rey was never one to sit idle when there was adventure to be had just outside her door. Against her parents' wishes, and without their knowledge, she took to the streets at a young age. Dressing as a boy to avoid recognition, she was only known as "The Fox" for her distinctive red hair. In the less scrupulous world, she learned how to fight out of necessity, but more importantly, she learned that a sharp mind, a silver tongue and nimble fingers are sometimes all you need to get out of a sticky situation. Ever the proper, pious, "obedient" daughter to her parents' faces, she led this double life for quite some time, until her adolescence demanded that she quit the danger of the slums and her childish whims, and attend to what was ostensibly her real life. Eventually, when plans were being made for a marriage she didn't want and a future that never felt hers, she told her parents that she had chosen a different path. Unsurprisingly, they weren't pleased and attempted to stop her, but it was far from within their power to do so. Rey walked out of the (previously locked) back door with a good few silvers to her name and the determination to make her own way. In the few years that followed, Rey became a formidable fighter, and occasional thief, making a name for herself as a talented hireling and still going by "The Fox" when she could get away with it. Whatever her reason for being at the conference may be, she'll most likely claim she was following the jingle of coin and nothing more. Even if that's not necessarily true.
Personality: Reynardine is wily, snarky, crafty, swashbuckling, wander-lusting, prone to ridiculously cheesy one-liners, and seems a little self-serving at times. Ultimately, she does care very much about other people, a lot more than she lets on. In fact, much of her swaggering, over-confident, self-absorbed persona is an act, meant to disarm potential enemies who think her too silly to be a real threat, and to prevent anyone else from getting too close.
Rey has very little respect for people who abuse their power, and can't stand the bullying of the weak or the innocent. She is incredibly charming, if a bit unscrupulous, but when truly angered she shows some rather worrying sadistic tendencies. Her sarcasm can become a bit grating at times, especially since she does it more when she's in high pressure situations, but she's entirely capable of dropping the "bawdy idiot" act and looking downright commanding when it's called for. She's good at manipulating people, usually not with malicious intent, but she doesn't like making enemies so she chooses every word carefully. She happens to be pansexual, and pretty free with her affection.
Relationships: She'll most likely get along very well with Varric, Sera, and Iron Bull. Her usual antics may exasperate Cassandra and Vivienne, but as she is fully capable of being serious when the situation truly calls for it, their favor can be salvaged. She admires Blackwall's sense of honor and duty, as she idolized the Grey Wardens growing up. She likes Dorian, trusts him even, as he seems to somewhat understand why she acts the way she does. She thinks Solas an odd bird, but values his companionship greatly. While she doesn't understand his nature completely, Rey is also very protective of Cole. She trusts her advisors and tries to hear them all out as fairly as possible to come to the best conclusion, but she has an obvious preference for the advice of Josephine and Leliana.
Politics: Reynardine has a lot of opinions that she's usually quiet about, but given that she's been charged with ending several major conflicts and fixing the bloody world, she understands she may need to disclose a few. In the Mage-Templar conflict, she's more likely to support the mages, though she'd much rather protect the poor folk caught in the middle of it all. She understands that how mages used to be treated isn't acceptable and never should have been, and as such she won't willingly work against their cause without a good reason. Crazy blood mages and abominations ravaging the countryside, for instance. But she won't blame the non-crazies for that.
As far as Orlais is concerned, the entire country just gives her a massive migraine. She's all for better treatment of elves, not least because much of her streetwise childhood was spent in the company of elven peers, but as far as the civil war is concerned she's going to have to ask Josephine what the hell is going on every few days if she wants to keep up.
Possible Character Arcs: Rey never asked to be a leader. She's always only been responsible for herself, obfuscating ignorance and avoiding major conflict to keep herself hidden, and if she chose to help people that was her business. But now she has little choice but to take up the mantle, and she is terrified and unwilling, but knows what's at stake if she fails to act. Her arc will mostly be about her coming to terms with who she is versus how she acts, not being afraid of her own capability, and learning she doesn't have to hide behind her various masks in order to please the people who matter.
Inspirations: Ching Shih, Mary Read, The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Appearance: Light brown eyes, brown skin, short, curly auburn/red hair. Has a single facial scar under her right eye, and a "beauty mark" above her lip on the left.

Okay, that was unfair. You're not wrong.
I feel I should point out, for your benefit if nothing else, that you are rubbing some people the wrong way here with your, ahem, "jokes".
Anyway, Reynardine is meant to look a little manic as part of her persona, so I don't mind.

I love the mini-cape like thing on her right shoulder. It's just at the right balance of flashy and practical. Every time I see a full-blown cape, I always think of the fashion lady from Incredibles: "NO CAPES!". Is there an actual name for the cape-like thing she's wearing? Seems like there should be a name for it.

You know, I'm actually not sure! That's a good question.
I think the same thing every time I see a combat outfit with a cape. I figured that it wouldn't be practical, or safe for that matter, for a rogue combatant to be wearing one of full size. I don't care how cool it looks on Zorro, the damned thing is more likely than not going to get in the way of EVERYTHING.

Do you think you have seen bad writing? wait until you see mine, I'm not a writer for a (very good) reason.
Name: Raf Adaar (I name all my wardens/Hawkes as Raf, maybe I'll decide another name later) - Male Qunari Vashot Mage
Concept/Background: Only Child of a Tal Vashot couple that abandoned a mission assigned at Tevinter many decades ago. His father was a qunari fighter assigned to escort the unit, and his mother, a Saarebas who recently lost her master at the shores of tevinter in a confrontation aganist tevinter soldiers. She managed to escape the ambush, and according to the qun code, she was about to commit suicide since she cannot envision another destiny for her. The last of the fighters that accompanied their unit, pledged her to not do that..at least not until they got far away from any tevinter soldier unit. When both of them were safe in a cave .. he began to wonder why such beautiful qunari should end her life just because her sadistic master died...but she was stubborn and began to cast a spell on herself...he knocked her out of cold leaving her unconscious. When she was unconscious, she looked so beautiful to him..those horrible sewings on her lips, he cut them apart with a dagger
When she awakened and she saw that her mouth wasn't even sewed anymore...she demanded to know why he did that...why he does not let her die? he wasn't sure...he told her that all the qun teachings were fine to him until he actually saw her, and how her former master treated her (he never saw an actual saarebas on Var Pollen until that mission on tevinter). She told him she was dangerous, something that should not exist on this world unless it is used as a weapon. He told her he only see a beautiful qunari, not a monster nor a weapon. They could run away, away from that life, and show her that there must be more at this life besides serving a dreadful master. So they ran away, and protected each other. Without them knowing, they were slowly falling in love, and a child would born afterwards.
They lived like vagabonds, working at human farms that needed some muscle for menial tasks. They had to hide her powers at all costs, they didn't want to alert any qunari units or templars. Templars were easy to avoid, since they usually don't look over for qunari mages, but qunari soldiers were another thing. Whenever his father encountered them, a bloody fight would ensue, making then to leave town everytime.
Their child, Raf, began to show magical powers at early age. his mother tried to teach him the few things she knew about spells (more raw power you would say) and how to control it so he does not burn everything. One thing that enraged Raf, was whenever he saw the scars at his mother mouth, or her horns cut down, reminding him how his kind treated people with magical powers, he hated the qun and all that stands for, since early age. His mother pledged him to not hate them all, they don't know any better, but still ... when he was older, they discussed if it would be wise to send him to a circle, but decided aganist it after they saw a group of templars dragging a villager's child from their family. He admired his father, and how hard he worked and protected his family aganist all the qun followers and templars all these years.
When the mage-templar conflict reached Raf's ears, he discussed with his parents if this wouldn't be the right time to reach them and train with them. The free circles now seem his best chance to learn more about his power without submitting to the templars or chantry, and he would be ready for any qun follower that try to harm him or his family. So he sets for the ferelden circle, wich governs itself even before the mage-templar war, but stopped for a while at redcliff and saw an announcement soliciting mercenaries to guard a conference in some high and hush-hush hidden temple, so he takes a break from the travel to see if he can gain some coins before reaching the lake circle tower....
Personality: He does not trust people, and acts aggresively at first, but at the end, he likes to avoid confrontation and violence if possible. The only thing that get on his nerves, is seeing how qunaris treats saarebas, anyone defending the Qun Code, and pointless bloodshed. He does not tolerate using weapons or magic used to spread suffering, so any blood mages or crazy templars will have a rain of fire coming at them. And he will do anything to prevent the death of anyone under his command. Since he likes to support the warriors on the front, he may be a knight enchanter or a Rift mage.
Relationships with companions: He probably won't get along at first with Cassandra and Cullen, being them from seekers and templars...but he'll try to listen to their advice if the situation calls to. He will try to get along with the mages, since he is interested on learning about magic himself. He is indifferent to Vivienne, but he'll ask her things regarding the circle (and probably hate her fashion advice). He'll try to listen and learn from Solas, specially about the fade, since his mother's knowledge was very limited regarding that...and finally Dorian, he finds him a model to follow, dashing and free on his very own way with a deep knowledge of magic. Sadly, despite a possible relationship between them, he only values him as a friend. Regarding Sera..well, he'll get along with her and her jokes soon enough, and very much the same with Varric. and blackwall..he always admired the grey wardens, he considers them as heros, and the constant sacrifices they make on blight's time...he have a secret crush on him, but abandoned that thought quickly a litle while after he meets him, he is so dedicated to his cause that he won't ever have a chance for romance. At least he hopes to have a friendship. He'll try to listen to josephine's advice and leliana, to solve thing without unneeded violence.
And Iron Bull...well.....
Romance: Yup, at the end he will #ridethebull, but it won't be an easy relationship at first. He certainly hates ANYTHING that is related to the qun, and for all accounts, Bull is still a Qunari agent. He is not sure if he follows the qun though, or if maybe someday, just like his father did for his mother, abandon the qun just for him?. Certainly in time he finds Bull attractive, but until they talk about their stands with the qun code (staying near of a vashot saarebas? that is impossible on the Qun Code) this romance remains to be seen.....
Politics: He does not care anything about Orlesian politics ... Maybe he'll ask Vivienne about Celene since she was a close person to her not too long ago. He will take the mage's side on the templar-mage conflict, but even he knows that both of them could be needed in case of a qunari invasion on a future, so he'll try to be diplomatic at first. Regarding elves...well, he does not know about this, but maybe he'll stand for them to support his allies sera and solas.
Possible character arcs: Since the beginning, he does not know what the heck he is doing, much less leading an army??? but he'll have to learn FAST or all thedas will be a wasteland. His main objective is to advance learning magic, having a secure financial position, to in time, return to his parents and give them the life they deserve. And if any Qun follower cross his way...prepare to the bloodshed.
Inspirations: None I know.
Looks: Gray skin, muscular and tall as most of qunari males, bald, hornless (or with small horns), and with a full beard or goatee. I will add red war paint or facial tattoos if possible. Think of him as a Stone Cold Steve Austin with gray skin and pointy ears.

Name: Viktor Travellan (or whatever the human inquisitor's last name is), Male Warrior Human
Background: Viktor was born the sixth son to a family of minor nobility in starkhaven in 9:16 Dragon. At the age of 10 he began training in the arts of war in order to join the starkhaven military. in 9:30 Dragon, at the age of 14, he was conscripted into the starkhaven military as a squire for fear of the blight in ferelden. While on a patrol of the starkhaven border, his master and squad were ambushed by a group of brigands, leaving half of the squad dead and his master crippled. Viktor picked up a soldier's sword and shield and managed to kill 7 of the bandits by himself before they retreated. Earning the respect of those around him, Viktor became a soldier. After 1 year as a soldier, many recognized Viktor's talents, which led to him becoming a captain and leading his own squad. It was in 9:31 Dragon that Viktor's mother, father, and two eldest brothers were killed by rogue mages fleeing the circle of magi in starkhaven (tie in decimus from da 2). Being only 15 at the time, Viktor lost himself to his emotions and took his squad to chase the mages, thus abandoning his post. He was caught by the starkhaven squads before he even caught up to the mages and was stripped of his rank, discharged, and imprisoned for 3 years for desertion. When Viktor was released he went back home only to find that one of his three remaining brothers had died from illness and that the other two were fighting over what was left of the families fortune. Watching his brothers tear each other apart he left starkhaven for good in 9:34 Dragon. History is unclear what happened from this point on, some say he was a mercenary for a time, others say he was a common sight in a low town tavern with a former prince and grey warden in kirkwall. However, history is clear after that, when he resurfaces to take the reigns of the inquisition in 9:41 Dragon.
- an excerpt from "Nobody Suspects The Inquisition," by sister petrine, chantry scholar
Personality: Viktor is an oddity in the sense that he carries himself like a veteran leader at the young age of 25. Despite his military background though, he has quite the silver tongue and has been known to entertain certain ladies of the evening. Beneath that grinning face and sharp tongue of his, is a troubled soul looking for his purpose in life, and the inquisition might just give him that purpose.
Companion Relationships: Viktor knows that unit cohesion is essential to surviving on the battlefield. Viktor tends to think that the better terms he is on with those around him, the easier it is to command them. Has issues trusting mages, especially those with an agenda, but understands that more important things are at stake than his own hangups.
Romance: Viktor is straight, always fooling around with tavern wenches and ladies of the evening. However, he does this to escape the reality that he is truly alone in this world, and thus hides behind a mask of smiles and wit. It might take someone who knows the pain of losing a family member to mages to draw him out of his shell.
Politics: Being a former soldier, Viktor hates politics. People die while they spend days trying to decide what color the flag should be. He tends to take a more direct approach to situations, but understands that sometimes situations call for subtlety and fancy words in order to preserve his own troops lives. He has a distrust of mages, but does have enough common sense to know that not all of them are bad and will mainly take a neutral stance on the war.
Character Arcs: Viktor is a born leader, and leading the inquisition is just another notch in the belt to him, a green glowey notch. He understands the basics of war, and very little of politics, and knows that gathering information is the key to winning battles. He will employ many spies in his inquisition in order to grasp the entirety of the situation before deciding on a plan of action. When alls said and done at the end of the day, he hopes to come out victorious with very little casualties.
Inspirations: None
Looks: 6ft 2" (screw the metric system), muscular, short red hair, green eyes, and a scar over his left eye. Favors heavy plate armor and the greatsword. Doesnt wear a helmet, thinks they are pointless cause you cant see them anyway.
Pics: none

I think it's the tongue. In the full-body shot, since the tongue is such a light color, it blends in with the teeth and it makes her look to have one of those "slasher smiles."
Have you tried darkening it a few shades? It might make her have the more happy and manic look you're going for.

While I do see your point and thank you very much for the suggestion, I'm going to have to highlight the little logo in the corner of the full-body picture and raise the point that I didn't actually draw her here. I used a modestly detailed RPG Heroine character creator, the same one I used for the Lavellan mage in my profile picture. Sorry I didn't mention that before, I must have assumed it was obvious.
Again, thank you. When I actually do get around to drawing my Inquisitors, I'll keep your coloring suggestion in mind.
(This is really embarrassing, I'm so dumb. *covers face*)

Well, I finally got another character concept figured out. My Female Cadash Warrior. She's going to be awesome.
Name: Marya Cadash no reason for the name. Just sounds right
Concept: Born to a mother who comes from a long line of surface dwarves and an exiled warrior Caste father. Marya was her parents' youngest, and the only one of her mother's seven children to live to adulthood. Taught the tenants of combat by her father, and devotion to the Chantry by her churchgoing mother, Marya dreamed of being a templar as a child, but gave up that impossible dream to marry into a rich dwarven family, providing safety and security for her family. Her husband was kind and faithful to her, but it was not a marriage of love, thought Marya is sure she would have grown to love him in time. After the birth of her first child, the Fifth Blight struck. Her father joined the army as a military commander with experience fighting the darkspawn. He died at Ostagar, though Marya never found out for sure until after the Blight. During the Battle of Denerim, Marya served honorably alongside the defenders of the city. But in the aftermath, she found her home burned to the ground and husband dead, holding the cold body of her child in his protective arms. Her mother died of depression a few months later. Heartbroken, she left to serve in Amaranthine under the Warden-Commander, surviving the Battle of Vigil's Keep. For ten years, she devoted herself to protecting others in the Ferelden army, trying to make up for her failure to protect her family. She serves as a representative of the Ferelden military at the peace conference.
Personality/relationships: She is very kind, but sad, rarely ever portraying a sense of humor or happiness. Resolutely dedicated to her duty, she will always work to protect the innocent and the helpless, regardless of what banner their leadership flies. Cassandra and Blackwall will be fellow duty-bound warriors like Marya, so they'll get along great. Vivienne's ambition will likely rub Marya the wrong way, and Iron Bull's mercenary attitude will not endear him to her. Dorian's charm and flashiness, Sera's rebellious nature and Cole's innocence will all make her smile sadly to herself, wondering if her child would have been like them, had he lived. She will be very respectful and envious of Cullen's past as a templar, and will rely on Josephine's diplomatic skill to avoid needless bloodshed. I think Leliana will be a close confident for Marya. but it's Varric that I can imagine being the person to finally bring healing to such a tortured soul. His easy-going nature, his dedication to the innocents caught in the middle of war, as well as his own scars could be the start of a beautiful love story(IF BIOWARE WOULD JUST CONFIRM HIS LI STATUS!)
Politics: As a devout Andrastian, she supports the templars in their goals, if not their methods. In the end, she's with the Divine, not the mages or templars. In Orlais, Marya doubts she knows enough about its conflicts to really know how to help, But she will go to whatever lengths she needs to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, even if it means dragging Celene and Gaspard down the aisle and marrying them herself and/or force Briala and Celene to kiss and make up.
Character arc: A woman carrying a great pain and sadness within her gains redemption through a chance of fate, and learns to move on and begin life anew.
Appearance: Long brown hair, green eyes and possibly a tattoo, if the CC has a good one.

Name: Ash Adaar - Named for the Qunari word meaning 'to seek'.
Concept: A female rogue Qunari archer, Ash's name is the Qunari word for 'to seek'. Unlike Qunari, who are assigned their roles in society, Ash mush seek hers. And so she has, living on the outskirts of human society ever since she lost her parents. She even lived with Tal-Vashoth for a time. The only real purpose she has found has been the mage rebellion, one she joined after its inception because they were unlikely to turn her down. The mages taught her much of what she knows about interacting with others. The past two years, she has grown a lot.
Personality/relationships: Curious and inquisitive(ha-ha), Ash continually seeks out a purpose in life. In the Inquisition, she finds it. She will admire and envy Blackwall, as he has found a purpose for himself, a comforting thought in Ash's mind. The social outcast statuses of Cole and Dorian will endear them to Ash. Her long life of living alone will give her common ground with Solas, She will find Varric's storytelling fascinating, Cassandra's fortitude admirable, Sera's dirty sense of humor enjoyable and Vivienne's fine tastes will doubtlessly amuse her. With her advisors, she will be an information sponge, most likely spending a great deal of time with them in order to learn as much as she can about the politics and warfare she much navigate. The only character I'm unsure of her reaction to will be Iron Bull. A fellow Qunari who lives outside the Qun, but is still a part of it, somehow. He will be a great curiosity to her, though I'm unsure if romance will ensue. Cullen seems more likely at the moment.
Politics: Her time in the mage rebellion has given her a affection for mages in general, though it has also given her a very close perspective on what can happen when a mage goes too far. Ash has killed her fair share of demons before, though they do not scare her as much as they probably should. She has little to no knowledge of Orlais and its civil war or its elven rebellion, issues she will rely on her advisors to outline for her.
Character arc: I can see her treating her role as the Inquisitor as an exciting adventure rather than a harrowing ordeal. For the first time in her life, her purpose is clear and known to her. With the guidance of her faithful companions, she'll see the Inquisition through the darkest of times.
Appearance: Short horns and long white hair(because human/elf barbers are afraid to cut it). She'll probably have a tattoo that the mages gave her once she earned their trust.
Art:
This is mostly what she looks like, just add the horns, grey skin, and make her a little more muscular. As far as her build goes, every time I think of a female Qunari, I always think Wonder Woman. But I couldn't find a good one of her with a bow and arrow. Found a good one with her and GREEN Arrow.

Name: Benia Lavellan
Female Elvhen Mage. Benia is derived from "Penna", which is a latin Word for "Feather".
Concept/Background: As her magical Talent was discovered at an early Age, she was sent away from her Clan to study with another Keeper and serve as (his/her) First. She quickly turned out to be very docile and especially infatuated with Stories of the Past, both Arlathan, but especially the Dales. Unlike most Dalish, however, she doubts, that everything is the Human's Faults and intially voiced these Doubts, advocating for a more objective and differentiated Standpoint. This, however, cost her the Popularity and Love of her Clan. While she was bitter about this, she did not let herself turn to hate, but tried to prove herself to her Clan, managing to stay at their Side and become a worthy First to the Keeper. Still, her unconventional Views were the Reason she never truly had the Feeling to ever become accepted as a full-blown-Keeper. Then the Breach happened.
Personality: She is very dependent on Harmony. She hates when People argue and fight each other without a real Danger at Hand - and she tries to prevent that. In Conflicts, she does not shy away or let herself be cowered, but instead tries to find Compromises between all involved Parties. This, however, has often a weakening Effect on her own Agenda, and thus she secretly craves for People to care about what SHE actually wants. And she can not be bended too much . she does have a breaking Point and when such a sweet Soul like her breaks, the Results are far from pretty. She hates Cynicism.
Politics: She tries to unite the People and will avoid making definite Decisions - however, if that is not possible and a Compromise can't be facilitated, she tends to favor the Interests of her own Kind. This means, she will choose Mages over Templars, when she can't have both. This means, she will aid the Rebellion of the City Elves and this means, she will help the Dalish reclaim their Homeland. The latter Interest is especially true to her Heart.
Possible Character Arcs: I think, the longer she has to serve as the Inquisitor, the further People will drive her. Time will see her idealistic Worldview cracking and maybe, if no one keeps her in Line and cares about her Interests, it will fall apart completely. Which would result in a radical Change of Course and a very brutal Change for her broken Character. If she looses her Idealism, thus becomes hardened, she will become a veritable Nightmare, destroying everyone that doesn't bow to her Wishes and Will.
Inspirations: Merrill, Keeper Marethari. A Person with the Ability to see both Sides.
Appereance: I made this also myself
and my Scanner is still crap.

Name: Inanna Adaar - Female Qunari Warrior (greatsword). Inanna was the Sumerian goddess of love, fertility, and warfare.
Concept: An intelligent and taciturn general whose head for strategy and tactics is only matched by a complete and utter lack of ability to carry out a conversation without inserting her foot in her mouth at least once. Probably twice. Inanna was born in 9:06 Dragon to Tal-Vashoth parents. She grew up the eldest of three sisters on a farm in the outskirts of Afsaana. They didn't have much there, but it was enough. There are enough qunari that she didn't get stared at too much. She spent some time as a mercenary working in the Free Marches and Antiva, even falling in temporarily with a band of Tal-Vashoth on the Wounded Coast. After the Kirkwall incident, she headed back up north and stayed there until **** started going down in the south. Lots of people not agreeing with each other. Lots of job opportunities. She attends the conference as another hired blade. Simple job. Stand around, look imposing, don't decapitate the dignitaries. Things never go as planned.
Personality: Inanna is practical, stubborn, and as subtle as a rock to the head. She's the sort of person who owns five copies of the same outfit because deciding what to wear in the morning is an unnecessary hassle. She's spent plenty of time guarding and fighting - the only thing anyone ever hires a qunari for. But she doesn't really know how to flirt, or charm, or do 'subtlety'. Seven foot tall horned giants tend to stick out like a sore thumb no matter what you do. She's no big dumb sword-swinger. She speaks Rivaini and Qunlat fluently, is conversational in Antivan and Trade, and can curse people out in Tevene if she really wants to. But she is taciturn at the best of times, prefers action to chatter, and her idea of mediation is sending both parties to sit at opposite ends of camp without dinner. Dealing with wars and diplomacy and magic is a bit out of her expertise.
Politics: Avoid it like the plague. If she can't help it though.... Inanna isn't incredibly familiar with Circles or Templars. Her mental image of magic has always been seers and hedge witches, bringing rain for the fields and remedies for broken bones. Wise women that one would go to for advice, not lock up in a tower. She is a pantheist, like much of Rivain. The Chantry is just people from the cities in robes singing from books she has never read. She's met the Dalish of Llomerryn and seen more than enough city elves in her work as a mercenary, and doesn't have much of an opinion on either. They're both short and impoverished and often tattooed (at least in Rivain). What else do you want?
Character Arc(s)?: Fish out of water describes Inanna in a nutshell. She doesn't know Orlais or Ferelden well, she has no experience with politics or negotiation or leading any organization larger than a squad, she barely registers the Chantry's existence, and she knows literally nothing about magic or the Fade. And she's the Inquisitor. Luck better be with her. It owes her big time.
Looks: She looks like some statue of a warrior more than the real thing. Inanna is taller than the average qunari, with a sword sized to match. Her face is marked with traditional Rivaini tattoos and her skin is dark from the sun.

Name: Saria Lavellan, after the Ocarina of Time character
Concept: Raised in a happy Dalish family, Saria has four brothers, one of them being First to her clan. From her early years into adulthood, she had almost no skill with a bow, preferring the sword and the shield. Trained by the best of her clan's warriors, Saria often escorted young hunters when they went out to test their skills. This brought her into contact with shemlans on a regular basis. Most of the time, she saw them as foolish, but harmless. The odd hermit or band of traders were no thread to her, much less her clan. This all changed when templars came through the area looking for a rogue blood mage(an elf, as it happened). Saria disregarded their warnings, at first. But when she and her charges ran into the half-mad bloodmage, she realized just how much danger he posed. Telling the children to run, she fought the bloodmage. The whole time, she could feel her control waning, and he soon had her as his thrall. That was when the templars arrived. One of the templars saved her from hurting herself or others, pinning her to the ground while the other two died fighting the bloodmage. The third templar knocked Saria out and left in pursuit. When she awoke, Saria ran and gathered her clan's finest warriors and hunted down the bloodmage. They found the templar and the bloodmage fighting in a forest clearing. Seeing them, the nearly dead templar grappled the bloodmage, holding him in place and yelling "Shoot, you damn knife-ears!" The two of them were pierced by many arrows. The bloodmage died instantly and the templar shortly after, holding Saria's hand and whispering his last words to an elven stranger, "Blessed are those who stand before The corrupt and the wicked and do not falter. Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just." Saria personally escorted bodies of the bloodmage and the three templars to the nearest Circle. From that day onward she never thought of the shemlen as harmless, nor did she speak an unkind word of them or to them. She had been shown that some were worthy of respect.
Personality/relationships: Valiant and protective of the innocent, Saria is very much a mother bear to those she considers friends, whatever their background. She will admire Blackwall and Cassandra's dedication to their respective causes. Varric and Iron Bull with be the first dwarf and Qunari she will have ever seen, broadening her horizons on the diversity of the world. She will agree with Vivienne's pro-Circle stance, though she is distrustful of ambition, open or concealed. Cole is dangerous, and Saria might not even allow him into her company. She will probably enjoy Solas's company, though she will doubtlessly have issues with some of his beliefs. Not sure how she'll feel about Dorian. She might consider him a danger, she might not. Sera's chaotic nature does not sit well with Saria, who is a much more ordered, traditional person. Josephine and Leliana will be excellent resources for Saria, who is a pretty in the ways of the world outside the Dalish. Cullen is likely to be Saria's romance, but there's no guarantee. Being a former templar, she will admire him from the start, but can she overcome her Dalish conditioning and learn to actually love a shemlan?
Politics: She'll favor the templars and the elven rebels in their respective wars, and rely on her advisers about who's is best for Orlais. As far as the Dalish go, if she can give her people a homeland, she will. But regardless, the Breach is the main concern. She will let NOTHING interfere with that.
Character arc: I can see her coming into the world at large, outgrowing her sheltered Dalish life and embracing something new.
Appearance: Blond hair cut short or tied into a bun. Blood writing on her face will be intricate and expressive. Full plated armor and helmet. No skin showing. That's just begging to be cut.

I'm tentative to plan a character out too much without knowing how the game is even going to go, but this one won't leave me alone. Might as well ramble where it's relevant.
Name: Niamh Lavellan
Concept/Background: Niamh was born to an especially reclusive clan whose chosen migration route took them along the near untouched coasts just beyond the Brecillian forest. Having shown magical talent at an early age, it wasn't long before she took up the mantle of First and she practically threw herself into the role so as to ensure she stayed worthy of it. The work being First brought was enjoyable to her, and there was certainly no shortage of it, but as she grew older so did her number of questions, not just about Arlathan stories and the Dales, but the world beyond her clan and even some of the core tenets of Dalish society. The Keeper, who was alread a staunch traditionalist, insisted that she not bother with such things, but this only made her wonder more. The harder she pushed the more the Keeper clamped down, and Niamh began to chafe under the Keeper's constant presence in every aspect of her life, her position as First superseding anything else she might want to pursue.
Despite her rocky relationship with her Keeper, Niamh is actually very dedicated to her history and culture-- she just doesn't hold it as gospel. The nomadic nature of her childhood had a profound effect on how she views the world, and she doesn't buy idea that this sort of life is 'inferior' or inherently worse than what Elves had centuries previous just because of how they got there.
That said, she has a tendency to keep her head in the clouds and forget to come back down, caught up with what might be over the horizon rather than dealing with the consequences of the past. She knows her history well, but time will only tell whether she's doomed to repeat it.
Personality/relationships: At first meeting Niamh seems like a very sage, wise beyond her years type of person. To some degree this might be the case, she certainly has the infinite wells of patience that are probably required to deal with everyone that makes up the Inquisition, but this comes from her quiet demeanor more than anything. You could almost even call it ladylike had she been brought up in a different culture. She's got a rather subtle sense of humor that doesn't always make sense to everyone else; maybe she'll go out of her way to make even lazier fashion choices than she already does to bother the fashion conscientious of the group or take advantage of the fact no one else is is fluent in Elvish to mess with people. Even the Keep itself isn't immune to her brand of amusement, just to add some variety for herself as someone who has never known a stationary home.
What the Inquisition does offer her is an opportunity to sate all those questions about the rest of the world her Keeper was so intent on deflecting. Her interpersonal skills may be somewhat lacking but she certainly wants to improve, since besides what's found in a library each of her companions provide a wealth of stories all their own. Between her reading and unabashed inquiries sometimes she's able to find a friendly debate when not discussing Inquisitorial matters, and having her ideas challenged rather than shut down is a refreshing change of pace. With access to more information she thought even possible in addition to what she already knows, those horizons she likes to chase never looked so broad. (She and Solas will probably get along well for just this reason, and in all honesty I can see her being a bit envious of the life he's led.)
Fact of the matter is though that she certainly doesn't have all the answers. As she is continually put into positions where others expect her to, however, this is cause for some anxiety. The real world does come crashing back in on her eventually, and secretly she has doubts about her ability to deal with it when it does.
Politics: She can get incredibly defensive of her native culture and customs when faced with particularly staggering levels of ignorance or misinformation, and she doesn't get how Andrastinians treat their mages at all, but as far as anyone else is concerned she's with the Inquisition, first and foremost.
Character arc: Niamh is good at the whole education/objectivity thing but learning to lead is going to be a struggle. She could barely manage it with her little clan and now she's got to do it for half of Thedas? If not for being in the wrong place at the wrong time she probably wouldn't even be involved, but so it goes.
Now watch us actually run into the PC's home clan and all that stuff I wrote get completely invalidated by a couple offhand comments or something

Name: Aylan Fen Lavellan
Race/Class/Specialization: Elf - Mage - Knight Enchanter
Concept Background: Born the bastard and only child of an Elven mother in an Alienage, Aylan lived the first seven years of his years in poverty before his mother started considering that it would be best for her son to grow up among the Dalish, to grow up free. When he had started to show magical ability -the occasional bully would find their hair singed off- that's when she ran. The Dalish were not keen on taking in "strays" until she told them of his magic then they accepted them. Aylan loved his first 15 years with the clans, traversing the dales, recovering artifacts once thought lost. Occasionally he wondered what had become of the other Elves in the Alienage, he had even asked the Keeper for permission to enter the cities when they passed, but the others wanted to protect what's theirs while he wanted to explore. Once he became the first he took the first chance to enter them. That's when he realized how bad conditions really were for Elves and how unconcerned the Dalish were. Other clan members called him flat-ear when he expressed his concern, after all those years in the clan, even coming of age and getting his vallaslin he was still a flat-ear to some. He wasn't surprised though, he had always had differing views and didn't hesitate to express them. Aylan has always a bit more adventurous than most so he postponed his training to travel Thedas while still returning to his clan every couple of months. After all, they were still his family. However with his travels the idealism he boisterously carried was rusted over time with disappointment, and as he aged he understood why the Dalish protected their own, first. Maybe he even agreed with them.
Personality: Aylan has an air of calm analytical confidence surrounding him. He critiques everything, his mind is like white water; very quick and combative, but he forgets things quickly and moves from one thing to another without finishing it properly. His emotions are hidden and controlled but they're very deep and vague, he hardly understands what he feels so he turns to that which he understands: logic. Which means he is at his most vulnerable when expressing raw emotion. His humor is dry and on the side of irony and sarcasm.
Relationships with companions: (Might as well go through them one-by-one, disclaimer all of this is assumption)
Iron Bull: They'd get on but nothing special there except Alyans fascination with other cultures will be a cause of conversation.
Sera: Big brother, little sister dynamic -fond but fighting-. Sera lives in the moment and Aylan lives in the future, she'll ground him a little. They both care more for common folk than those in power, but Aylan believes in the greater good so that might mean friction.
Solas: Silently judging people together. They'll get on like two peas in a pod, Aylan loves people who think out of the box.
Cole: Cole might scare Aylan a bit because of his nature, but eventually he'll sort of take him under his wing.
Cassandra: A rough start for sure, it will take some time for them to realize that they are like two sides of a coin. She'll bring his head out of the clouds, which is what he needs in his new leadership position. Aylan has no problem with the "Maker" or "Andraste" but he is wary of the Chantry. They both dislike hyperbole and need the real facts.
Dorian: They both have similar views on where they came from, and how they want to change it. I believe they'll get off to a good start.
Vivienne: Respect and caution.
Varric: Despite their similarities they might clash over greater good decisions.
Blackwall: Mutual respect.
Politics: Humans, am I right? He will fight for the city Elves no matter what the other Dalish think. Celene is the lesser of two evils in his eyes but Gaspards military mind would be useful in a time of chaos. Mages vs Templars? He will fight for those who need it most; those caught in the middle, but he would support a reformed circle based on learning and not fear. Aylan has a way with words and 9 times out of 10 he will negotiate first, iron fist, second. His time with the Dalish was most spent with the ones in power, learning how to lead, so he knows his way around a speech. The Inquisition will come first for him. It's his chance to make an actual difference.
Inspirations: Tony Stark/Iron Man, Jack Sparrow, Robert Lutece and Felassan.
Appearance: Minus the facial hair, of course, and with shaved sides (pls Bioware)
Romance: Cassandra
Main Party(ies): Cass, Solas, Cole or Sera Cass and Dorian.
Song: Mumford & Sons - Broken Crown
