I swear to pizza I'm addicted to these...

Name: Samantha "Sam" Trevalyan

Concept/Background: After having been kicked out of her family home for having absconded with Chantry funds, ran off with a nobleman's wife and killed a man, Sam spent time smuggling mages out of circles and acting as a mercenary, often rescuing elves from slavers. Despite claims to being well-payed for every job, astute commentators note that Sam is often broke, and that the other side of these conflicts would pay much better. Sam denies this to the last, claiming that she spent all her winnings on alcohol and cheap women. The first part is certainly true; Sam is often drunk, and frequently consumes enough whiskey to kill a Qunari. She has succesfully alienated every mercenary she's ever worked with, being a mean drunk and worse sober. That said, she has a reputation as fearless and cunning, able to outwit her foes with ease.

Personality: Sam is acerbic, cynical, rude, and contemptous of everyone. She's also a drunkard, and the drink does not improve her attitude. She's also tactically-minded, and plays friends and foes alike as though they were pieces in a game. Drunk or sober, she's one of the finest warriors in Thedas. Assuming you can stand her long enough to get the job done.

Relationships: At first, Sam is going to antagonize everyone, save Varric. On the other hand, being forcibly involved with people as bright and damaged as she is may force her to open up...

Politics: Sam sticks her neck out for nobody. She's only getting involved because she has no choice, not because she cares about the Mage-Templar war.

Inspirations: Rick, Sam Spade, Philip Marlowe, Veronica Mars... you get the idea.

Looks: Red hair, green eyes, fair and freckled skin.

Currently the plan is to do a female Qunari or dwarf. I don't go down for those big complicated backstories others go for, instead preferring a simple personality that is then shaped a bit by whatever happens in the game. To put it simply, my Inquisitor shall be rather politically neutral, intrinsically a bit distrustful of everyone, and focused on her duty and her job. Mages? Templars? Elven uprisings? The sides are unimportant. The world's in chaos, and order should be brought back, not some cause you can pick up anywhere. But most importantly here, someone's got to deal with those giant rips in the sky and the flooding demons.

And I guess it'll be up to her.

As for appearance? Well, I'm not sure it'll work, no character creation shown yet, but so far I plan to try and make something that looks roughly similar to a female Sam Vimes. Except, you know, shorter or with horns. Because heck yeah.

Name: Talasala Adaar. Combination of Tal, "True" and Asala, "Soul"

Concept: A female Qunari warrior, Talasala is from a remote village in Antiva founded by a group of Qunari who fled the Qun.  Many Tal-Vashoth have joined them, and Talasala learned most of what she knows of combat from those veterans. Talasala left in her youth to join a mercenary company in Nevarra, spending several years fighting in small wars, and even help slay a dragon once. Ever since leaving home, she's let the world carry her, living on its whims. How she finds herself at the peace accord, I have no idea. Not sure if she does, either.

Personality/relationships: She's a very 'take the world as it is' kind of person. She doesn't necessarily want to change the world in any way, though she will do her best to live by her own conscience. I truly have no preconceptions about how she'll see any of her companions besides Varric. She'll enjoy his stories and the 'happy-go-lucky' part of his personality. Other than him, she'll take each of her companions as they are. Who she will be befriend, and who she will romance is entirely up in the air.

Politics: She was raised in a society that has rejected the Qun, but still lived with some remnants of its culture. For one, she is still fearful of magic and mages to some degree, but not like those back home. She is also culturally Andrastian, though not necessarily in a religious sense. That may change as she confronts what is ahead, however.

Appearance: Long, dark hair, and hornless. Her parents insisted that this meant she was destined for a great purpose. Guess they were right.

Art: 2515431-wonder_women_by_penichet_d47up0l

I keep imagining Wonder Woman and her Amazons when I think about Qunari females, for some reason. Any of these ladies work just fine for Talasala's concept, really. Just need the pale grey skin.

I think or at last is my hope to see a very well done elves characters in the Character creation, because with the engine of DAO and DAII

(  eclipse engine)   they are very awful.

Elves is supposed to be more beautiful than any other race, i like their artwork on the inquisition.

Name: Elena Lavellan, Female Elf Mage

Concept/Background:  Elena is a member of the same Dalish clan her father came from. Her mother was a powerful mage, given to that clan by another during an Arlathvhen, as it did not have many powerful mages. Both of Elena's parents died during her childhood, with her mother's dying wish being for Elena to return to her original clan, to be with her only surviving relatives. Elena's Keeper denied that wish, claiming that Elena was the best choice to succeed him as Keeper, as she was proving to be most talented mage in her clan's younger generation. However, he ultimately picked his own daughter, a less talented mage, to be the First, leaving Elena a tad resentful, and feeling like she wasn't living the life she was meant to.

Personality: Elena is very confident her her abilities - she knows she is talented, and long for the opportunity to do something meaningful with her skill. She has a lot of love in her heart, but directs it mostly towards nature - as a result of her rejection to be the First, she turned into a bit of a loner.

Politics: Elena thinks her people dwell too much on the past, and need to look instead towards the future. She's an idealist, who would see the Dalish and City elves reunite as a people, living in peace with the humans - though she herself has hardly ever interacted with humans.

Character Arc: I think she's going to start out viewing this as her chance to do what she was meant to do - to use her skill to change the world for the better. But along the way, she's be introduced to people and ideals she's never considered, and won't know how to react to. She'll probably find out her idealism was a result of being naive, and learn to appreciate the hard choices leaders have to make.

Appereance: Long brown hair, thin, on the shorter side. Green eyes.

Name: Brother Konrad of the Templars

Concept/Background: Konrad is a Templar given to humanism and doubt towards the Maker as described in the scriptures.

Given this doubt, and deeply held principles of fairness and justice, during a critical stage he offered leniency towards a blood mage, who described her practice as a manipulation of energy deriving from life forces. This resulted, over time in a untenable position which was aggressively purged.

He is now significantly less compassionate towards mages but his discovered but not professed lack of faith in the Maker is suspected by his superiors and thus he is seen as a liability.

Personality:  Cold, merciless but always polite. Given to sarcasm towards Mages.

Politics: Compassionate towards the peasants, but very formal. Respectful towards the Templars. Will tend to support the institutions of Order and Justice, because this is a feudal society, tends to support the aristocracy but attempts to soften the abuses of the aristocracy on the lower orders.

Will assist the elves in their sovereignty, in as much as it is consistent with principles of Justice and Order. Will burn the witches and the blood mages.

Character Arc:  Probably integrate disparate communities into a unified body, on the principles of Order and Justice. Will purge all deviant groups, witches, blood mages and hedge mages. Mages and Templars are to form a representative body with the function of  maintaining Order and Justice to Mages who belong to the circle. Enforcement will be through combined groups of Mages and Templars who have learned to function cooperatively. Some sacrifices may have to be made for the greater good.

Name: Alexandra Natasha Trevelyan - Female Human Warrior (Sword and shield).

Background: Alexandra was born on a farm in a southern land beyond that of Ferelden even beyond Thedas. Her home climate was very harsh and cold. The people were very technologically advanced and fairly civilized, but were still prone to constant civil war. After things really started to get ugly, she and her parents, her mother pregnant at the time, both fled to Orlais in hope that Orlais would be less chaotic, and a safer environment for their daughter and new soon-to-be child. That would be partly true, and one month later, the Trevelyan's added a baby boy to the bunch, his name was Henrik. The next addition to the family would be an abandoned infant that Alexandra would take under her care. The baby would later be named "Linus". As time moved on and she grew older, she wanted to learn how to fight, and became interested in swordplay, so her father purchased a sword from an armorer, and she would go nowhere without it ever since. She named her sword "Fabian", after a boy who died in the civil war of her homeland that she had a crush on. She would continue to train until she would become one of the best sword combatants in Orlais.

Personality: Alexandra has a kind and gentle, good willed heart full of compassion and sympathy. She's very loving and caring but is very easily angered. When she blows a fuse, the results are sometimes rather gruesome. She is especially loving of children. She can very easily win over the heart of a child and was vital in helping bring up her two younger brothers, Henrik and Linus. She want's what's best for everyone, and as much as she loves fighting, she typically does her best to avoid unnecessary conflict. Alexandra is also what some would call a "warrior princess", she places her appearance in high regard and always wants to look her best, while at the same time much of her is devoted to fighting, she would gladly go around sword fighting in dresses and high heels if she could but instead settles with decorated armor pieces diamond rings and pearl necklaces.

Politics: As peaceful as she is, she really has a strong opinion on Templars and Mages. The Templars in her eyes are far too oppressive and Mages have gotten way out of line and would rather get rid of both to ensure they both don't go tearing the whole world apart and bears no real love for either. The veil is a different matter, she wants it closed as quickly as possible and sees things like the Templar vs. Mage conflict as nothing more than simple distractions to the real threat against Thedas.

Inspirations: Ashley Williams, Lightning, Joan of Arc, Hervor, Athena, Artemis, Lara Croft, Nariko, Miranda Lawson, Oerba yun Fang, Boudicca

Physical looks: Alexandra is a tall and beautiful woman with long straight golden blonde hair, eyes as blue as the sky, and skin as soft and smooth as a rabbit. She typically wears her hair in two long pig-tails down to her belly-button. This is probably the closest to what I have in mind:

And for my second:

Name: Milan Noel Lavellan. Male Elf Rogue (dual daggers)

Background: Milan comes from a small tight-knit clan of Dalish elves in Orlais. He has 4 sisters: Justyna, Molly, Anna, and Galiana, he is the youngest in his family. Being the youngest and only male in the family since his father died shortly after his birth, he always felt somewhat out of place, consistently being talked down to and scolded for otherwise meaningless things. He would often become the whipping boy quite literally for any problem that came up baseless or not. His childhood was one of isolation, loneliness, despair, rejection, and neglect, even among his own clan. He could never quite figure out what his purpose in life was but he was determined to find out even if it was the last thing he did. As he continued to grow older, he taught himself skills such as hunting, stealth, trap-making, dagger-wielding, as well as archery and other skills. At age 15, he ran away from his clan and sought refuge in another clan located not too far away from his own. He was better off with this clan though things weren't perfect as some of the clan members would look at him with suspicion with being an outsider and a stowaway clan member. Nevertheless, he didn't really care and if they had a problem with him, that was their problem. He joined up with the Inquisition to put his learned skills to the test.

Personality: Milan is quiet and abrasive. He is very rebellious and trusts nobody. He doesn't take it easy on anybody and will openly criticize someone regardless of if it's a lowly peasant or the Empress of Orlais herself, he does not cut anybody any slack. Milan is also very sarcastic, he has a rough sense of humor and doesn't care if it offends anyone. He doesn't care if he offends anybody, and will not hold back on anything he has in mind, whether he knows it offends you or not. Milan holds no love for authority and will bow to nobody, he will be the first to rebel when he feels someone is trying to hold him down. As a result of being brought up in a neglectful household, he is not very social, and view private time, as the only time worthy of his time. He is known for being particularly private, and will not react kindly when his privacy is invaded. To him, nobody is above anyone else, he addresses everyone as an equal whether they like it or not, both to annoy them and to make his viewpoint quite clear that nobody is above criticism. Being abused and bullied for much of his childhood, he is quick to retort to any hatred, bigotry, or abuse he encounters whether on him or someone else. Milan is also, crafty and clever. He pranks and backfires without mercy regardless of who it is and will not stop until he is fully satisfied, and no matter how you try to adapt, he will find a new way to get you. As abrasive as he is, he is still very quiet and introverted, and still does have a very strong sense of right and wrong. Although quite rough around the edges, he is still actually very friendly and compassionate at heart to those who he views as friends.

Politics: Milan is completely disinterested in any Templars vs. Mages phenomenons, he only cares about the veil and closing. He doesn't care who closes it, just that someone closes it. He bears no love for Templars or the Chantry in general since he views them as authorities, but is still rather apathetic towards mage issues.

Inspirations: Han Solo, Myself, Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, Achilles, Zevran, Fenris, Hercules, Cloud Strife, Balthier, Alexander the Great, Noel Kreiss

Physical looks: Milan is a very handsome elf, he has big deep blue eyes and fairly long dirty blonde hair. This is the closest I can show what I have in mind in terms of facial features:

Name: Brianna - Female human mage. This is a fake name, as many of her people take on. It rings similar to her true name, but the people of Thedas would find her true name too strange and would attract attention she desperately does not need.

Concept/Background: This is an OC of mine with a long history. That of which is hard to get into without sounding bonkers for trying to roleplay her in DA:I...

That said, here it goes!

She does not come from Thedas, I think that is clear at this point. She comes from many other dimensions.

The idea is that she, and many like her, have the ability to visit many lands at different times of their development.

She was there to observe, as many do, before the event happened. She was thrust into this responsibility.

Despite this, she is not bitter. She takes to leadership well, and enjoys it much like a game.

She relies on her fake name, almost as if getting into a part for a play.

She is Brianna, leader of the Inquisition. Bringer of change.

Personality/relationships with companions: Brianna is strange in her personality. You see, where she comes from, magick effects your personality.

She can appear rough around the edges when things don't go her way, especially in politics. Short fuse, she's quick to challenge.

Despite this she tries her hardest to keep it under control to save as many people as possible.

You will never see her as happy as when acting violently and quickly is the answer to saving people.

This will probably have a strange effect on how she is viewed. Some might appreciate her views on a strong hand on things,

some might think she needs to loosen up her grip. This is all just the opinion side of things.

Personally, she's pretty easy to get along with. She'll cut loose and joke with the best of them.

She's passionate about change, and that's where the "problem" lies.

Politics: Oh, politics. This will bother her the most. Like I said, she's passionate about change. She's passionate about people and problems.

You can bet she's going to step on some toes with her blunt opinions on how things need to be "tweaked," if not the 'governments' themselves.

Possible character arcs: I feel like she'll take a lot out of this experience. Learning to rely more on other people and maybe taking a step back.

I see Cole making a big impression on her. She has this thing I call "mommabear mode." I see her growing soft and

letting her guard down around certain companions. I think she'll regain some of her empathetic personality that she had before magick.

Looks: Pale with dark blue eyes and ash blonde hair. It's curly and long. Hopefully they have it in CC, haha.

She likes hoods and light armours.

I'm literally coming up with most of this on the fly so constructive criticism would be nice.

Name: Bellanaris Lavellan (aka Bella to a very select few)

Concept: A female rouge who dual-wields daggers even though her parents tried to train her to use a bow. She never developed an aptitude for it like she did with daggers. Raised by a single mother who was the warleader of her clan and who Bella is very close to--as far as she knows her mother is still alive. Grew up with a clan who often settled near farms and in more rural areas, so growing up Bella got along with those sorts of humans well. She got into the mage-templar conflict when one of her human friends, the daughter of a farmer her clan was settled near, was found out to be a mage and taken away.

Personality/Relationship with companions: At first glance she's a bit of an Iron Lady with just a tinge of Ice Queen, at least among the Inquisition. She's very proud of her heritage and very spiritual, as much as she can be with what the Dalish know about their religion. The best way to get her to warm up to you is to prove to her that you are an honest sort of person, both in speech and in general. Looks down on humans in general, especially those stereotypical ones in positions of power who do nothing to help those below them. Bella is slightly more friendly with humans who live more rural lives or live a bit like the Dalish do. She loves children of any race however.

Cullen--Friend. Her romance. Initially she'd see Cullen as another human but Bella would soon come to appreciate the fact he has a good heart and generally tries to do things for the right reasons. Having been raised by a warleader she'd tend to follow his advice most of the time.

Josephine-- ???. Depending on Josephine's views about the Great Game and the politics she's so good at working with Bella could either love her or generally dislike her. Hopefully Josephine will be able to teach her the value in knowing how to play things like the Great Game even if you don't believe in them.

Leliana-- Rival. Bella views her as sneaky and underhanded, generally someone she should keep a close eye on and watch for betrayal. Doesn't like the whole assassination business and really would prefer to not know anything about Leliana's methods. If Leliana can prove her loyalty to the cause then Bella would be content letting her do her own thing pretty much.

Not sure about Blackwall, Cassandra, Cole, or Solas yet.

Dorian--Initial Rival. The fact he's from Tevinter would be enough to put Bella off from the start, though I'm hoping she'll learn to like Dorian.

Bull--Friend. It seems like he's going to be a fairly honest person, which she'd appreciate.

Viv--Rival. Wouldn't trust Viv's political ways, but would respect her power as a mage.

Varric--Friend. Bella would love the fact that even though Varric is a story teller he goes about it in an honest way. Hopefully she and Varric can be buddies.

Sera--Friend though virtue of their similarity. They're both elven rouges and Bella would appreciate the fact Sera is one of the common people.

Politics: Her kind comes first in all things--she puts their more simple way of life and politics over that of the humans. Looks down on the humans in general for all of the petty things they fight and kill one another over, most of all the Orlesians and the Imperium. Despises the Great Game and all other manner of political underhandedness. The only exception to her contempt for humans is children; to Bella children of any race are exempt from the sins of their parents and the adults around them and should never be punished for them. As far as mage vs templar she sides with the mages, believing they could learn to control themselves just fine if given enough freedom from outside influences to do so. Bella doesn't look down on city elves, since she sees their assimilation into human society as a necessary step in survival but does encourage them to demand better for themselves. But above all she thinks that it is the inherit responsibility of leaders and politicians to do everything they can to lift up and better the lives of those less fortunate then they are.

Character arc: Prior to the Inquisition Bella would have been a very closed minded elf so I'd like to see her widen her opinions and horizons a bit. I'd also like to see her discover the value in manipulating the Great Game even if she hates it, and learn that not all humans are as petty as the ones she previously encountered. Also growing to see the Inquisition (advisers included) as her new clan.

Appearance: Antivan complexion, green eyes and long white hair. Has very good bone structure and a lithe build. Tends to wear clothes that are closer to the body and won't impede movement, usually in darker colors. Hates skirts and dresses of any kind. (The pic below is made via the RPG Heroine doll maker. The tattoo in the pic below is just a placeholder for whatever her vallaslin will be, though I know her vallaslin won't be very large)

Vanitas is hilariously dark. It would be amusing to have an inquisition so feared and hated that it becomes difficult for the aristocracy and commoners to know which side to choose. It would be amusing to see Morgaine interact with something like your Vanitas.  Perhaps use emissaries such as Leliana to soften the image of an institution presided by a monster like Vanitas. Still hard to image some of the nicer fluffy versions of the inquisitor to get the job done.

Hilarious.

Yeah.

I can read fast enough to process the walls of text people leave.  I look for originality and or coherency of an idea. Or an appealing theme. In retrospect it seems rather arbitrary. Point is I read quickly. But you are right, an image will convey an idea quite well and we are heavily visual creatures.

Concept/Background: (Preliminary, until Adaar origin is revealed) Isaala grew up amidst a wandering Tal Vashoth mercenary company raised more or less communally. She was mostly left to her own devices outside of her lessons in combat and literacy. She threw herself into combat especially, determined to thwart the expectations of those more traditionally minded Tal Vashoth in the company. All that training paid off, resulting in her becoming one of the company's most skilled and severe warriors.
Personality/relationships with companions: Her harsh and severe sense of judgement will certainly rub her companions the wrong way. She isn't shy about her opinions and judgements, but her strong sense of fairness and serious demeanor should align her with the likes of Cassandra and Blackwall. I expect she'll get along with Viviene, Solas and perhaps Dorian as well. There will be clashes with Varric, Sera and Iron Bull though. Cole will be... interesting. She will be very frustrated by his childish mentality. As for the advisors, she won't trust Leliana, at least not at first, but I can see them growing on one another. She'll get along with Cullen just fine, as she'll favor decisive military action to start out. She won't see much use for diplomacy, which will cause plenty of conflicts with Josephine. I plan to play her straight (A first or me for a female character) but I'm unsure with whom, leaning towards Cullen.
Politics: She doesn't care much for the causes of the conflicts in southern Thedas she sees stability as her mission and will choose accordingly. She's harsh with mages and Templars alike. As for Orlais, she understands Gaspard to be the instigator of the war and an expansionist at that. Of the two, she favors Celene. The elves are of no significant interest to her unless they get in her way or can be useful. She sees the possibility of a new free elven nation warily. A possibly alliance could be useful, but a second isolationist xenophobic elven homeland would only cause problems down the line. She'd allow it only on her terms.
Possible character arcs: I see Isaala growing "softer" through time, learning to see the world from more than her own severe perspective, lightening up a bit and learning the value of more subtle approaches, like diplomacy or espionage.
Inspirations: Stannis Baratheon, Haytham Kenway, and Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing
Looks: Dark grey skin, tied back white hair and sharp yellow eyes. She wears a modest amount of face paint and tends to go helmless (Depends on what the not-helmet slot is for Qunari)

I think this will be a fun character to play.
