Will there be as much humor in this as DA2?

From what it seems like to me, the whole hating on the sarcasm thing from Hawke stems from the genders. I see a lot of people that play exclusively male Hawke hating on the middle tone, while those playing femHawke really dig it.

It'll be interesting to see how this is handled through the multiple voice actresses.

I was the opposite, I played mostly MaleHawkes nd sarcasm felt better coming from them especially during the MotA DLC

But both of my FemHawke were tough and direct which sounded better coming from her. Though now I realize my love for hard ass females makes me bias lol

I hope there's the option for humor and sarcasm, but I hope it's done better and more appropriate than in DA2. Some parts it was funny and cool, but other parts it was retarded. Telling the Viscount "well at least the day can't get any worse" when he's holding the body of his murdered son ruins the whole scene and makes you wonder if Hawke has some kind of personality disorder.

Well, Hawke has a lot of responsibilities and many look up to him/her thus a ton is expected out of Hawke. Humor, both light and dark, seem to really help with Hawke coping with how utterly insane everything is and keeping his/her nerves in check due some of the things they have to face.

I play an exclusively male Hawke and I adore the sarcastic path Hawke.

Should try both genders, FemHawke and Hawke do Witty really well with them being better at some parts over the other. Such as how FemHawke, to me, sounded much better when explaining to the drunk Templar that one of the Templars was worshipping a Demon while Hawke sounded better when e was talking about wanting 1 day without facing an insane Blood Mage.

"You can't shoot your family at a bandit coming at you from fifty feet right between the eyes..."

I loved sarcastic Hawke, especially since his insistence on never being serious regardless of the situation mirrors my own, which is as much of a compliment to him as it is a detriment to myself.

Albeit, sometimes I found myself thinking, "Man, that's kind of obnoxious", but then I remembered that there were usually two or more dialogue responses available, you know, like in most Bioware games.

That said, I highly doubt the humor option will be removed in DA:I. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the humor was toned down a bit.

No problem at all with either gender sarcastic Hawke, since there was always an option to say something else if I thought a confrontational or placating tone would be better.  I think the reward for playing through as a certain type was finding those little gems of dialogue or plot that only happened if Hawke was a certain personality.  There were a few situations that changed if a strongly individual Hawke went out of character or stayed in, and they're a nice little cookie to enjoy after dealing with tragedy, slavery, and betrayal.  They didn't change the game for anyone and they were fun.  I never would have thought to accuse Anders of not telling me everything unless I was playing aggressive Hawke, for instance, and Hawke would have been patiently exasperated (oxymoron alert) explaining a diversion to Merrill.  I think it's awesome and I hope they expand on it.

I agree, Witty-Hawke is one of my favorite characters in all the BioWare universe.

That was right up there with

"Then there is no chance of finding her alive...or any of the others..."

"Well, if they're not dead...watch out for boneless women flopping around."

Such awful taste, given the situation.  Such hilariously awful taste.  Witty Hawke was utterly shameless.

Indeed, there are options out there and nothing is stopping players from mixing and matching stuff. My Witty Hawke would be serious at times when **** hit the fan but would still be witty for most other things.

Besides, Bioware is really good at humor!

Like little gems such as "Shepard" "Wrex" "Shepard" "Wrex".

I loved witty Hawke so very much, had me laughing out loud on many an occasion. But then, I am just as inappropriately snarky as I made her in my playthrough(s).

I really hope you can be a snarky bastard in Inquisition as well, not least of all because humour is a good coping mechanism when deal with tragedies both personal and global in scale.

I adore sarcastic Hawke, both male and female! I don't exclusively choose only those options, but I like that to be the base personality. I'd say it's easily one of the reasons I love DA2 more than a lot of other people. It really adds to my immersion if I can play humorous characters as I'm not as keen on extremes of goody two shoes and ******* type heroes (though I still play them). After playing funny Hawke, diplo/aggressive Hawke just didn't match up and I found myself often stopping from choosing the sarcastic option and breaking character.

I hope the "clever" dialogue choices in DAI will be similar, I think that is the intention. I'll be surprised if it isn't.

You serious?  Every “Funny option” response made me want to carve Hawkes face in with a book of after dinner speeches.

Yes, I am serious, one of the main reasons I re-played DA2 that many times was for the humor. I only tried the "rude" and "diplomatic" options like once or twice in the whole game, first time I played it and NEVER touched those options again anymore. And of course male Hawke, way better then anything else, he was funny instead of trying to be funny.

It's really certain lines, ManHawke and FemHawke do humor better at different parts for sure. Both have their ups and downs and ManHawke does Deadpan really well which makes some scenes much more hilarious that they have any right to be.

Yes, the answer is yes, relook at gameplay trailer with Castle Redcliffe, the part two specifically. Snarky is there, banter is there.

Reference the video of part 2 gameplay and quotes from devs.  One of the great teamups one person likes is Sera and Bull, or Sera with others. Sera being snarky too. Mayhem!

Also a few lines about Sera talking to Bull about him picking her up and throwing her.

In my opinion, the witty Hawke was the "I don't give a damn about anything" Hawke. Always trying to throw clever lines, but not particularly funny.

Now the agressive lines, those made me chuckle more than once. Especially when used on companions.

I hope so. I love sarcastic/snarky hawke, and always used it. Even when it was inappropriate, because I'm like that. I am a snarky ******* who is going to get slapped one day, but I will go down laughing, so I can relate. I want my inquzzy to be a smartass.
