My game randomly crashes from time to time and I had enough of this

Usually this didn't bother me because it happened rarely and I was able to play.... But in the last two days it happens more often than usual. I live in Croatia, Zadar, and it's really hot here.

Problems are... sometimes my game freezes while I save, then I use task manager then my game stops working and I exit the game and I loose the save. I solved this by doing multiple saves, but it's annoying like hell.

Also, sometimes my game freezes while I am in combat or just walking the street, then above happens, except I don't loose a save.

Any suggestions? I googled but I came out short.

I am Techless, but perhaps turning off FX like Shiny Water might be of help, or lowering FX to aid in performance. I also recommend utilizing Disk Cleanup before gameplay.

disk cleanup? That just frees up a bit of disc space, its not going to affect a game (unless you really have a need for space)

It also clears the buffer, if I recall which does help on my system; used this on my old computer when playing Skyrim on higher settings. And it seems to aid performance on my current one, too.

check the cooling fans on your video card and around your motherboard -- for dust and to make sure they're spinning

those are symptoms that things are too hot

"Its really hot recently and my computer started crashing" is often a sign your computer is overheating.

My computer didn't crash. My game freeze, then crashed, and I was returned to desktop.

Sorry, maybe I used wrong verb... I said my game crashed and I mean it freezes, then I got message that NWN2 stopped working, then I was returned to desktop.

I agree with KevL, it sounds like your video card is beginning to expire.  I had the same thing happen recently.  Does it happen with all your games, particularly modern 3D games?

I only played NWN2 and Crusaders Kings 2, and recently I started Neverwinter online. With CK2 I had no problems, but Neverwinter online stopped working once (when I moved form tutorial to NW.)

NwN2 is very heavy on a videocard (prob. because of the early algorithms it uses for shadows & 3d), so it gets hotter than most games can make it.

if the weather cools down or you put an extra fan near your computer and the problems go away, that's yer culprit

ps. try turning shadows off, i think that's the heaviest effect ...

Two suggestions, because I agree that it's an overheating issue:

1. Take out the video card and remove dust. You might find that either the fan or the exhaust are clogged up.

2. As a temporary help, remove the side of your case while the game is running. Most people don't take cooling seriously enough and the case isn't that efficient at removing the heat.
