Straight Characters...

I'm also hoping for some good friend relationships in DA:I so you can get to know characters even without the romance element.

Yeah, but that Isn't happening. Neither women nor LGTB People are being treated better than Straight People or Males, in regards to the Romance Options. Everyone has the same Amount of Options. That you do not find the Options you may get not as appealing as the Ones the homosexual Orientations are getting is sad, but they can't really accomodate everyone's Tastes. There are plenty People who favor Cassandra over Sera, I'm sure of it.
To say, anyone would get the short End of the Stick because you don't find your Options appealing, does not present you in a positive Light.

How are you getting the short end? Everyone gets the same amount of romances and while you find the personalities of the gay ones more interesting thats not true for all the other straight players, Bioware cant account for everyone's personal tastes when writing romances. If they did the ammount of romanceable characters should have been in the thousands
Well there is that issue with percentage though. There is a larger number of gay romance options than straight ones in the game now compared to actual number of gay people and straight.

Options for a gay male: Dorian, Iron bull. Total: 2
Options for a straight male: Cassandra, Josephine. Total: 2
Options for a gay female: Sera, Josephine. Total: 2
Options for a straight female: Cullen, Iron bull. Total: 2
So unless everything I've been taught about maths has been a lie, it seems that there is an equal amount of gay and straight romance options.

Also Bi characters Iron Bull and Josephine...which adds another option for both sides.

I am indifferent to gays - as long as they don't chat me up (or try to at least)
Care to explain what you mean here?
Also, gee, another post about bioware 'being unfair to straight white males'. Why am I not surprised.
To be honest gay people do not make 50% of the population. So by that count, yes there are.
Oh, 'statistics'. My fav part.

Hm...
It's just nice that both straight (straight male and female respectively of course) exclusive romances hate/dislike mages (coincidence? - I don't know...)
Cassy because of her family and the plot to take over the chantry (and maybe even because of Hawke)
Cullen because of Uldred in the Tower and Kirkwall (hell, he said: Once I thought we were to harsh on you (talking about mages)...for me he is a Meredith in the making (in a way)
I hope they mention that (them ignoring it would be worse then them being a little cold to you at the start...)

Yes but bioware (quite rightfully) wanted to give each sexuality at least one representaition (for each gender) in the game, and they would have to have to make loads of romance options if they wanted to actualy represent the real-life distribution of homosexual/bisexual/heterosexual people.

Why do you asume I am white? (you are correct - but why the assumption?)
As for someone saying:
Gays don't make up 50% of the populus, correct, too (even all non-straight people clustered together don't come close to that figure)
And I did explain (earlier in the topic - I said something along the lines of it being ok to be gay
)

Which is why minorities are frequently left out. But Bioware are being inclusive, which I think is fab. It's nice to play a game or watch a TV show and feel included.

I think you'd be surprised...
In a fantasy world, why not? Bisexuality is not gay, that's just to start with (maybe you mean "no straight")
Maybe in a place where it is accepted and not seen as rare (and it had been accepted historically), it would be more usual than what you think
Also... representation.

The statistics issue is shaky at best, but it doesn't matter. Bioware has commented many times that their statistics show the amount of people accessing the same sex content exceeds the numbers they expected from actual gay/bi players. Many heterosexuals also enjoy the content. It's not only actual gay/bi people that use the options.

Let me see if I understand....getting the short end of the stick.
There are a variety of characters, and you like some of them more than others.
This is a problem how?
You still get to experience Dorian's content, but you'll get friendship content instead of sexy-tine content (which you don't want from him anyway).
I understand the frustration in the move away from the herosexual companions (I love that design), but there are traits that unavailable to the writers using that model, and clearly the writers wanted access to those.
Would you be as upset if you only played green-eyed characters, and the NPCs you liked wouldn't romance green-eyed characters (they don't have any problem with green-eyed characters, except when one tries to chat them up)?

I'm a straight woman and I fully intend on romancing Dorian and Sera at some point. Never saw the need before. In Origins neither Leliana or Zevran appealed to me and in 2 everyone was bisexual so regardless of who I could romance with whom, the content would always be the same. This time round that will be different.

It will probably be like with Alistair or with Fenris. They acknowledged that you were a Mage, but that doesn't stop them in any Way. There is no Class-Gating. And even if that's a Problem, there still Josephine (for straight Males) and Iron Bull (for straight Females), who both don't seem to really care about the Mage-Templar Stuff.

I try to remember that any romantic relationship in a game is a bonus; few to none were extant before I started playing games from Bioware. So if being 'Just Friends' with Aveline is the best I get from one title, so be it; still remains one of the best written storylines I have experience in games. Having to step away from my monitor in goldfish mouthing heartbreak is simply an indication that I had made an emotional connection to a fictional character; internal achievement unlocked.

I mean, they can be 100% of a group thrown randomly together of 9. I don't think even in our reality every group of people divide evenly down the line. one of my greatest friends is straight and she became friends with 6 people who she later found out were Lesbians and a pansexual. 6 friends from different places and them all being queer is a bit...surprising odd wise, but it does happen.
That aside, it sounds like you want more options because you are the majority, but you wouldn't/ You would have the same number of options(actually less if Vivienne becomes available) So it seems you want gay people to have less options because you are not gay and that is unfair.

Spoiler
Interesting stuff, I disagree. I find Josephine my top choice, she even looks better than Sera to me. I also find Cassie quite attractive. I dont go by appearances, its pretty shallow. When finding two people that are attractive outside and extremely ugly inside is a lesson preferred not to be learned, which I did.
My question, Is there an issue on playing a female quisitor to be with Sera? Is there an issue playing a male to be with Dorian? If your pro-gay marriage, then I would guess the answers should be no. I have gay friends and lesbian friends, I know their status and they know mine, and its left as that. I been hit on before and just politely say no thanks not interested. Going mad crazy over it doesn't help anyone, when just saying no thanks earns more respect than yelling get away.
I saw your other posts but cant add them here right now. If you understand the lack of their inclusion then what is the point of your argument? There are plenty of options to choose from. Just play the female to be with Sera if that is the concern. Otherwise, cant include everyone's taste of romances, and I am sure you will like some of their personalities when playing.
RP a gay Inquisitor? or are you to "uncomfortable" with that?
Wha?! you speak blasphemy!
(think you remember or recall, I have no issues playing any character myself, made this note in case forgot amongst all these posts around here)
Seriously OP, don't you think it's time others got more attention than the straight guys?
Nope, we need 100% of the romances of ALL games out there.
Not like its already what, uhm.... 90 percent? I'd have to look. Of course I like your post and would liked if had any left.
I was being sarcastic at the beginning of my words to your post just in case. ![]()
Spoiler
Women are not being treated better than men, men haven't been weakened due to feminism. (note, I side with them as well). But your statement makes it sound like by giving women 50% men are lesser now. Ladies around here and around my life just want 50/50 and would side to men if it was 80/20 against men as well.... just like men sided with women to help equal out. Though I think we still have some work on that, especially gaming industry where its still more male catering. I do see people push back when one group seems to look like they have more attention when they tend not to.
Its a LIE!!!! there are too many for one... bleh.. nevermind.
I ran out of likes and wanted to like the post but used a quote to let you know. ![]()

Someone else already beat me to it. You would be surprised how many are gay/bi that follow games. Population of the world, no, they are not vast, but they are quite huge in numbers, more than some would like to think.
I'm part of those numbers that are straight and plays gay/lesbian characters as well.
