Why must you link TVTropes... I will officially be useless for the rest of the day now while I open like 1000s of tabs.
It gets me every ****** time.

Because I'm evil. ![]()
I'm immune to TV Tropes' siren song now. I can check out a single page without spending three hours on it.

It was much easier to kill those dorky looking mages with their silly hats and cloned faces.

How dare you accuse the Order of being enemies! Cerberus I understand, but the Templar Order? This is an outrage.
I had a real hard time killing those poor Templars in their adorable/awesome armor. Dat winged helmet...

Hehe yeah that too, the armor of the Order kicks ass.

Feel bad massacring soldiers in Dragon Age? If I'm massacring soldiers, they practically got on their collective knees and begged for it. It wouldn't make a difference if I can see their faces, because I wouldn't see them for very long.

Considering we are killing hundreds if not thousands of people in this game, do your really want Bioware to create several facial models for the enemies? Helmet save time. Plus if they have no face it means we won't feel bad butchering them.
And honestly Helmet or not I wouldn't care. In fact if they did show the faces, I would want them to add more to it. I want to see the fear in their eye and I kill them. I want the look of terror upon the lowly private who dare tries to fight me. But of course that would mean more work. So until then. Helmets.

There's also the fact that, y'know, helmets are pretty useful for protection purposes. It's probably good defense-wise to be completely covered in armor.

I know right? I'd never ally with anyone but the holy order and besides, that was the armor I was wearing for almost my whole playthrough.

Me too.
When I finally got the Templar Light Armor in the Deep Roads, I never took it off until Act 3 when I got the Templar Heavy Armor: Pimp addition. But I never got the righteous winged helmet.

But if you took off the Templars' helmets, you would see the implants and realize how indoctrinated they are ... or did you not see the Cerberus-Templar connection before? ![]()

Now, personally I don't really mind if enemies are faceless (Cerberus, Templars, pretty much most enemies in FPS games, etc.), I carve through them just the same.
For me it's their behaviors that make me feel good/bad about killing them. Hypothetical situation: I overhear two Red Templars talking about their families before I attack their camp, or maybe talking about how they feel bad about killing people and want to just go home, I'm probably going to feel bad about stabbing them in the face. In ME3, if I see a Nemesis sniping civilians and using wounded Alliance troops as bait, I'm gonna get pissed and go for kneecapping, immolation, etc. before a clean headshot.
Although I'm sure there's quite a cost in designing such behaviors as well.

Hey,
No, It is not (watch the demos they have shown...in order to reach Redcliff, you have to fight BOTH (they attack bystanders now, too it seems!) and than there is the red-templars....)
greetins LAX
ps: If you help the mages only, they'll probably don't like you much either ![]()

Or a disembodied voice coming from a helmet where you can barely see their eyes?
The problem with DA2 helmets is you can't even see their eyes, it's just a a black void. I'd take the transparent eyes of the DA:O Templars over the dark matter of of the DA2 Templars.

I feel exactly opposite. Those sole Eyes in the Darkness are far creepier than Darkness alone.

That's what I mean, it's awesome.
I want the Mages to tremble in fear, and nothing says fear like transparent eyes in a dark void.

Please. That's child's play compared to the Arcane Warrior's floating-ghost-teeth-and-eyeball combo.

?
I can't wait to try this one. It sounds like fun to watch. What do I have to do? Oh wait. Are you talking about the way translucent images were rendered? That was pretty lame. The worst scene for that was with the spirits in the sacred ashes quest. I'll probably always get a kick out of Hessarian's wife (name starts with a V...) showing her smallclothes under the sheer dress. I'm a bit immature that way. I'm fairly confident that graphics have come a long way since 2009.
