In the Engineering Building at campus, I saw a guy wearing a N7 Hoodie.  I went up to him and did my best imitation of a Reaper's...bellow (not sure how to describe it, but you all know what I'm talking about).  Now, I like to think that my imitation isn't so bad that a fan wouldn't recognize it, so either I'm wrong or the guy had no idea what Reaper's sound like, because he stared at me and walked away.

There should've been a vid of this

So, it sounds to me like people have been wearing N7 hoodies not cause they're fans but they thought it looks cool?

Also, I see humans everywhere. They remind me of the human race in ME.

'Self-destructive path of technology?'

What does that mean?

"Looking further ahead, there are no fundamental limits to what can be achieved: there is no physical law precluding particles from being organised in ways that perform even more advanced computations than the arrangements of particles in human brains. An explosive transition is possible, although it might play out differently from in the movie: as Irving Good realised in 1965, machines with superhuman intelligence could repeatedly improve their design even further, triggering what Vernor Vinge called a "singularity" and Johnny Depp's movie character calls "transcendence".

One can imagine such technology outsmarting financial markets, out-inventing human researchers, out-manipulating human leaders, and developing weapons we cannot even understand. Whereas the short-term impact of AI depends on who controls it, the long-term impact depends on whether it can be controlled at all.

So, facing possible futures of incalculable benefits and risks, the experts are surely doing everything possible to ensure the best outcome, right? Wrong. If a superior alien civilisation sent us a message saying, "We'll arrive in a few decades," would we just reply, "OK, call us when you get here – we'll leave the lights on"? Probably not – but this is more or less what is happening with AI. Although we are facing potentially the best or worst thing to happen to humanity in history, little serious research is devoted to these issues outside non-profit institutes such as the Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, the Future of Humanity Institute, the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, and the Future Life Institute. All of us should ask ourselves what we can do now to improve the chances of reaping the benefits and avoiding the risks."

It boggles the mind that people need clarification of the self-destructive nature of technology when things like this happen.

To be perfectly honest, I don't come across all that much in my day life that reminds me of Mass Effect. However, every now and again I will see a film and will see either props, set designs, costumes or special effects that remind me of Mass Effect. Last year I went to the cinema to see Elysium and about 20 minutes into it I started to get a very heavy ME vibe from it.

For me, the Japanese name for the littleneck clam is Asari and its commonly served with ramen soup

I know! Asari ramen is delicious :D

So, it sounds to me like people have been wearing N7 hoodies not cause they're fans but they thought it looks cool?

That would really surprise me.

But not all technology is the same. What would you even define as technology?

Because I don't view technology as inherently self-destructive, and that possible danger of technology is any means to ever stop advancing.

I don't believe in the idea that there is any technology that we aren't 'ready' for.

Pretty much anything in a movie or on television with a "hero" trying to stop some evil plot. It happened during the last Bond movie Skyfall that I saw, when I recently rewatched Star Trek V, and in almost every episode of 24 Live Another Day.

This actually started after I played ME1 and has only gotten worse since.

When I meet new people, especially guys, some have obvious but invisible Mass Effect fields up. They also won't look me in the eye. I assume Cerberus ties and leave them be.

Also have one of those plasma globes that I like to think is a reaper version of the Prothean Sphere.

Well, there was this one time I saw bottles of coca cola, pepsi and sprite stand next to each other in a store fridge.

A lot of things have me wanting to say "Stupid machine!" but I know others won't get it so I stay quiet :S

Not sure if this counts, but I was recently watching the History Channel because they actually had a program about actual history on, and during "The World Wars", I could have sworn I heard the same music that plays when the fleets arrive over Earth.  I know the channel occasionally uses Two Steps From Hell music, like the ME trailers, but I'm pretty sure that the fleet music is from the original soundtrack.

In traffic driving behind a newer model Jeep with its spare on the back rack. The spare looks like the emblem for the citadel. What made it surreal is that I had the ME 1 soundtrack playing the track from the Presidium.
