If you were to create a new class what would it be?

So what class would you like to make?
For me I'd like to create a 'hunter' type class, similar to that employed in Warcraft, with a pet to control, I think that would be awesome and just having that class focus on the bow & arrow element, whilst the rogues can focus on their cloak & daggers.
Let's hear some thoughts people?
Also Bioware people, has there been any thoughts to introducing a new class or do you have some planned for the future, plus what would you do if anything?

Druid with nature magic, animal familiars and shapeshifting.

Id go for my favourite Skyrim build, a mix of the 3 classes that relies heavily on light armour, stealth, long swords and fire spells

Well, you'd have to find something that is unique enough to deserve a class of its own, as opposed to existing as a specialization of one of the existing 3, and at the same time fits the setting and established canon.

I can't really think of one. Ideally the the three classes would be wide enough to accompany every archetype associated with them.Druid build within mages, Barbarians within Warriors, Swashbucklers in rogues, etc.

Cool topic! I'm building various types of wardens to prep for only one spec and would love to see what people are doing. Since DAO allowed more chances to customize without "cheating" (which I do regularly and shamelessly), I've been playing with different builds and can't wait to hear what others are doing for pointers. I plan on a rogue inquisitor with an eye for subtlety, whether through stealth or intrigue I haven't decided, a mage that has command of the passions of the earth and a warrior, eventually, who ... leaves me flat. Sorry. Maybe the warrior specs will add something to the game for me this time around. Otherwise, I'll let the companions do what they're good at and focus on what I like.

If something were added it'd have to be out of the norm kind of thing. A werewolf class could actually require a new class and would be quite awesome.

I doubt that you can find a class that would be unique enough that it could not be considered either a subclass or specialization in one of the main classes. In fact an old rpg called The Fantasy Trip only had melee combatants (fighters) and Wizards. Everything else was either a subclass or specialization.
A classless system (maybe using templates) would probably be best.

Splitting up Rogues into a ranged and a Melee Class. The ranged Class could be called "Ranger" or stuff. Thus allowing more detailed Functions for both than a Skill Tree "Archery" and a Skill Tree "Dual Daggers".

Hm... I'm pretty sure that everything could be covered within the 3 archetypes of fighter, mage, and rogue. You could throw in a 4th and call it "hybrid," but that's it as far as I can see. I mean, I saw werewolf mentioned but that's basically just a hairier-than-average warrior IMO. I'm hoping that the specs and classes we end up with have enough flexibility to support multiple builds, but I'm not so sure about that... it looks kind of strict from what I've seen.

Kind of hard to think of one that would fit within the lore of dragon age. Perhaps a more holy paladin/cleric (templar just doesn't seem to fit this) that falls within the chantry, but how would you justify them using a holy type of magic like healing? May be they would be blessed by the maker and andraste.
I would prefer really distinct specializations that truly differ from each other within the existing classes. I hope we see this in DA inquisition.

I like this topic but I have to agree with some of the other users here. It's hard to come up with uniques classes. Maybe it would be easier to look at this from a subclass or specialisation point of view.
As a special warrior class I have a Samurai class in mind. Maybe this class doesn't focus so much on strength for the fights but more on speed. Ah well, I'm sure that it has potential
.

Druid with nature magic, animal familiars and shapeshifting.
This. But without the shapeshifting since this already exists (or at least it existed) for certain mages. I completely support nature magic and animal familiars though. I kind of miss this class since Baldur's Gate. Yeah, if you look at Morrigan for example, her spells come close to that but it isn't the same somehow. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a character who is commited to nature? Or if there were an option to build your own character in that direction?

Isn't a Dalish Keeper basically a druid? They don't control animals, but Velena (or w/e her name was in DA:A) could learn Shapeshifting... Oh, and the elven Inquisitor is Dalish, but on the other hand I don't think we have racial powers so... probably no Keeper magic this time...

I think with the specializations we can have everything... I would like some spear wielder warrior though... Hector/Achilles, the red viper were just tooooo bad ass

Something like a Monk/Cleric perhaps?
Using "holy" powers not unlike Templar abilities. Could get a unique weapon proficiency like weaponized ceremonial cepters, blade staffs or the likes (no, no DD blunt weapon approach, clerics are allowed to spill blood).

I dunno about "Class" but I've thought of a specific specialization. "Demon hunter" Someone who specializes in hunting down demons, abominations, creatures of the fade, and their weaknesses. They also go after blood mages a lot too. (Mostly an idea I dreamed up for particularly traumatized Hawkes in the wake of what happened to Leandra.) I generally play a rogue so most of the ideas I had for it stemmed from there. Debuffs, hitting vital points/weak spots for high crits, customizing weapons/boosting damage types or their bonuses, throat slashes to quickly dispatch mages/keep them from summoning more demons or shades, etc. I guess the idea is a bit like a 'vigilante/unauthorized Templar.'

Tbh, I wouldn't mind just being a basic spellsword... no fancy arcane warrior buffs or conjured weapons, just a mage who lifted weights long enough to wield a sword and wear armor, and who uses some basic magic spells. Maybe TES spoiled me, but I just like the idea of combining warrior and mage...
A martial artist class like the ones in Jade Empire would also be cool... though again I'd start them off as mages who had unorthodox training.

As long as you can retract your longsword in case of an emergency so it won't give your position away...

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I actually have some difficulty imagining something beyond the Rogue/Warrior/Mage trope. Talk about conditioning.
A Monk I guess? Mixing Rogue and Mage abilities. And to conterbalance a sort of Arcane warrior.
BG had way more classes but many were variations of the three main archetypes (or a combination with the multi-class system).

Hey,
That's easy (at least for me):
I want an Alchemist-Type character who uses potions (which he has unlimited ressources for), explosives and even some early technologies (note: Not steampunk like), like early rifles and things like poisons (like an adventuring potions-brewer, with a broad range of knowledge)
greetings LAX
ps: The Qunari do have explosives (and cannons!) so that's not impossible with the lore we have

The one I dont see fitting the trio of classes that someone mentioned is the Monk. Fist fighting as monks, isnt done with any options of specializations, as paladin could be a more goodie goodie Templar in several cases. A monk using fist's is so far the only thing unique that cant be repeated by any current specializations.
Otherwise I dont really see how to add more base class after rogue, mage, and warrior sets. Specializations and skills covers most other types of classes that can be thought of.

Read a thread by the infamous Nyeredzi about an Unarmed class that can be of Lyrium Monks or Spirit Monks.
