I felt like there where barely any drells in the ME universe. Only Kolyat and Thane. I am very curious about them. I do hope we will have another drell companion in the next ME game. But it seems like they don´t really prioritize the drellrace. What a shame. We know so much about turians, krogans and asari. Time for drell to shine (and less human companions in general, and more aliens)

What do you guys think?

Makes sense since there are so few of them.

This, drell are rarely seen outside the hanar homeworld so it makes sence that we know so little about them.

Atleast there is a canon reason for why we see so few drell. We need to be seeing more female turians/salarians/krogan/etc.

I can imagine why there aren't many female krogan outside of Tuchanka, because their safety is so critical, but for the other races, I don't see much of a reason for their absence.

Yes. The trenchcoat brotherhood needs more representation.

There's also Feron, Liara's friend from LotSB.

What i hate about the drell is that they are basically Thane turned into a race.

The 4 drell i have seen in the games/comics are all at least shady, on top that the multiplayer-drell are fast like thane.

Every race in mass effect has for example soldiers, engineers, scientists, merchants and artists, except the drell they are All-Thane.

If they put anymore Drell into ME-Games they have to de-thane-ize the race in the process, those Drell whould have to be different!

Every single salarian NPC we've ever met or come across, aside from the Dalatrass, had a male voice. That makes little sense when you compare it to humanity, where we've always come across an even mix of male and female voiced NPCs. Even the quarians were more evenly represented

Agreed.  Especially turians.  Salarians, they did say they only make up 10% of the species and stay on their worlds since they're political leaders, so I guess that's an ok reason...though I find it hard to believe every female salarian goes into politics.  Anyway it seems they're very reluctant to make female aliens.

@zestalyn: Why should a female alien have a female human voice? Same goes for male aliens and male human voices...

It is rated mature?

But the eyes of Satan (nipples, female nipples) aren't even in the game.

More everything would be nice. The last trilogy focused way too much on humans, thus many of the other races kinda got shafted. So yes in the next game I would love to see more of the alien races, and less humans.

The weird thing is that the Salarian Councilor is male, despite the political leadership of the Salarians usually being female. Way to punch through that glass ceiling I guess.  B)

Thats true. And it annoys me coz Thane is the coolest character in a videogame...ever. Still want more drell though,

@zestalyn: Why should a female alien have a female human voice? Same goes for male aliens and male human voices...

So you're saying all of those male-voiced salarians could totally be females when it has already been indicated in the ME universe that voice does indicate sexuality
i.e. female-voiced Dalatrass, female-voiced Nyreen, female turian in Citadel DLC, female-voiced Eve, and basically every single asari. I'm pretty sure everyone refers to Mordin/Maelon/Kirrahe/etc by "he" and the female salarian councilor by "she".

A claim like yours doesnt make much sense and only works to make a weak excuse for BW's laziness

In this video (around 1:00) the art director states that BW avoided dealing with female turians because they didn't know how to approach physically defining their sexuality (which is kinda sad, but i guess thats what happens when you're a character designers who is a man w/ limited notions of sexuality lol) This difficulty is probably the same reason they avoided showing many female salarians/krogans. They had it easy with the Dalatrass because they just covered her in a fancy robe and gave her a female voice.

I'd imagine an excuse for their laziness would be that they simply didn't have the time and resources to design entirely separate models for all of these races, and as evident by his statement, they just weren't thinking outside of the box, so they simply made all of the turians male.  <_< I read somewhere that female turians were depicted in the comic books before Nyreen/Citadel DLC came out, so they basically made the model based on the comic book character designs. Idk how true that is, but it is unfortunate that it took the last game for us to finally see female turians and a female krogan.

More on topic, we finally have our female drells (Thane's wife) as depicted in one of the more recent comic books. I think we deserve to see female drells in the next game, in which case Bioware will probably make female drells based on this design.

I think the characterisation of females in general, regardless of the species, is very lacking in the ME universe and it gets progressively worse with each game.

That feels like a cop out, especially when I have seen tons of fan art that depicted the female aliens rather nicely. Hopefully this problem is fixed in the next game, and every race has it's own unique models. And here's to hoping for a female drell, turain and krogan teammates.

I think this is because the Drell are indebted to the Hanar, so those few Drell that get to leave the Hanar homeworld tend to be highly trained operatives sent to do Hanar 'dirty work'.

I agree it would be nice to see some Drell in a different light tho - maybe a Drell that has run away to seek a less restricted lifestyle.

I don't think drell are ever restrained to a 'restricted' lifestyle. Drell like Thane willingly take on the Compact. It's stated in the codex that drell fully coexist with the hanar and are integrated into every level of society, and those outside of the homeworld tend to be adventuerer types that live as they please.

It was also stated that most younger drell don't really care for their traditional religions. It would be nice to have a drell squadmate like that cause I wasn't thrilled by Thane's monk-like personality

Wow. Interesting. Where can I buy these comics? (preferably in Europe)

Although I kind of prefer Thanes wife to be someone I dont know. Id like to think of Shep as Thanes one true love.

She looks ugly, though. :) Not that it doesnt really matter. There should be more female aliens.

the most convenient way would be to get it online, voila
http://www.darkhorse...-Foundation-12

IMO the way the artist colors and inks these aliens makes alot of em ugly, even Thane looks real janky in some of these panels.

I'm all for more Drell. Not many of them, sure, but their inclusion would be welcome. Male and Female. Not always of the ThaneCoat variety.

I think there should be opportunities for the developers to consider putting in the Hanar homeworld or the old Drell homeworld for whatever reasons they can make up.
