I'm really not into excluding anyone because they don't feed my ego as a player, other than Leliana and Baelor (specific character, you know who you are for allowing it), and the reason I exclude them is because they ruin party mechanics.  I suppose what I'm doing is expressing the very sincere hope that if certain assets are to be exploited the consequences  of the player's choices will include positive and negative.  Another way of expressing my desire is to say that if a player decides that Leliana is too perfect to exist I'll be able to shut her up without consequence.  I doubt that's likely so I'll probably have to play nice with the old blow-hard, but still.

I'm completely fine without the experience, loot, approval, or whatever else for DAO.  Just let me express in steel that she's too perfect to exist in the real world and I'll be happy.  I guess they do that if I don't cheat.  Every time I turn around it's an example of a conspiracy.

Or it could be that cheating hurts your enjoyment of the game.  Nah.  I've got my strategy playthroughs and my story ones.  Maybe in inquisition I'll finally be able to  humiliate Leliana like she deserves for being better than the PC at finding/disabling traps.  I will confess that I make her walk right on top of a trap she misses if she hits a random one in the early game.

Either that didn't make sense or somebody slipped something in my drink...  either way, I'm a little worried.

Considering the degree of intensity I feel toward overpowered characters other than my own (I'm totally innocent of anything other than altruism, trust me) characters, you should be very afraid.  Seriously, though, I suppose I'm just being overly dramatic in expressing the hope that I refuse to believe is vain:  DA:  I will be an awesome game without the cheats and mods.  Honestly, the more I play with them, the more sorry I am that I ever installed them in the first place.

You are not the only one.

TO, care to rephrase your post? Right now it's hardly understandable. Really the only thing I gathered is that you don't like Leliana and that you hope for a way to get back at her. I suppose your title refers to the necessity of rogues to disable traps and such, in which case you can always use another rogue to do the job (Varric for example).

It didn't make sense.  I seldom do.  If you can read between the lines it helps.  Sorry, I honestly have a hard time expressing myself and it tends to come out garbled.  Consider this thread a generalized rant against overpowered  characters.

I've seen nothing to suggest that DA:I won't be great...  but really, the Warden was way more OP than Leliana IMO.  Even a basic warrior Warden could spam shield bash.  Leliana always died for some reason, but I never used tanks and had her dual wield, so maybe that was it.  And Hawke... well, just don't ever use a save editor to make a dex-based Templar... unintentionally takes god-mode to a new level.  I don't know if Merrill and Anders were as OP as people claimed because I never used them, but the rest of the team seemed pretty balanced...  I expect that to continue in DA:I, but of course anything modded is probably going to be unbalanced.

Honestly, the things that annoyed me the most were stuff like disabling that damn trap in the dead trenches.  I've never actually been able to do it with a warden but I have with Lel.  In order to max approval I have to hit enter unconditionally every time she says something.  Really?  OK, if those are the rules I can play by them but if you expect me to like her too you're just out of luck.  As far as I'm concerned, if she's got plot armor I don't know about let me know and I'll stop running up against that wall.  There are lots of others I can waste time and energy on without it being an ego drain.

I dunno... I mean, I don't even like Leliana, but the DA:O approval system made everybody get on my nerves more often than not... the only way to just act normally was to use the Feastday Gifts DLC to bribe them into forgetting that you were rude to Bevin or w/e.  Easily my least favorite part of the game.  Actually DA:I is supposed to have a similar system, isn't it?  Well, I hope it's a little less restrictive... if so, I'm probably going to have to get used to fighting solo cause I hate kissing up to subordinates.

My point.  There are so many NPCs in the game and if you want to play it and have fun, there's going to be someone in the corner biting his nails.  But don't worry, Leliana will save the day and all that.  Bleck.  Serious cop-out.  I suppose I have to play whatever game I'm given but I will abuse the heck out of the games released already to get negative personality traits out of my system.  I'd like to think it wasn't apparent that I'm an evil, worthless bastard just by looking at me, but at this point, if someone wants to think I  am, I'll invite them too.  The point is: do I get my loot?

I'm guessing OP dislikes the idea that companions seem superior to the hand-crafted player surrogate.

Understandable, but that's about it.
