I never really took "endgame content" to mean "content that is done after you complete the game.  But rather, content that is designed for higher level players.  Stuff that is done when the player is leveled up and with quality equipment.

That's pretty much how I see it too. Once you hit the level cap and you can't progress your character further other than gear, it's endgame content. It is to me at least. Usually endgame content is approaching the final conflict in the story or getting very close to it. I'm hoping that Bioware's level cap is balanced well for a player like me who has to go everywhere and do everything. Would be odd to hit the level cap 35%-50% through the game making it all endgame content from that point forward.

Hm... that's what I'd also assume, but I thought I heard that we could continue playing after completing the main quest?  Was that just a rumor?

Wait, are you allowed to answer that?  Eh... if not just forget I asked and sorry for asking...

What you heard was correct. Endgame content, like super tough dragons, can be finished before the completion of the main quest, or while you're faffing about and upgrading afterwards like in Skyrim. Whenever you feel up to the challenge.

The most recent example of this I can think of is Assassin's Creed IV. There's a few "Legendary" ships that you can attack whenever you want, before or after the main campaign, but it'll be easier if you upgrade your ship the whole way (to which I said, meh, I've spent enough time pillagin').

@ Zatche - I see... well thank you for the clarification.  It's probably not going to be my thing but I know there's lots of folks who will enjoy being able to continue exploring and facing some lingering challenges after the main crisis is resolved.  Sounds like a fine idea overall.

the only thing about endgame content meaning killing the dragons is , dragons offer the best materials for weapons and armor but once u have killed these beasts and crafted the best items in the game you have nothing to use those weapons on

You're right in the sense that "endgame content" usually means content doable once you have reached max level, typically in MMOs. However the concern of the OP is understandable considering no one knows the max level or how fast you reach it. After all in many RPGs max level comes at the very end just before the finale, and it would be weird (just an example) to stop just before the final battle to hunt down 20 dragons to experience endgame content. Especially sine the reasoning for killing them is mostly treasure and crafting materials.

I think more information on the definition by the developers on endgame in DAI context as well as more information on dragons would help clear it up. I would imagine you have developed several different levels of difficulty in the dragons, so you can hunt them down throughout the game depending on your level at the time.

I really do not understand the concern though. If it feels weird to kill the dragons just before the final battle you can easily not kill the dragons. The dragons just exist to be an extra challenge if you seek it.

And we do know the max level or at least the range, which is 25 to 30.

I am not sure what information is really needed. We know that the dragons are meant to be challenging and are meant to be content you can do at the end of the game and as far as I recall even post game.

I just remember an example being about a massive Templar Camp, whichever has a big beastie in it somewhere, that you would never get through until end game content? Could Bioware confirm this?

Also end game content could be trophy/achievement collection, like 'crafting in all areas max level' or 'dragon slayer (I.e all dragons dead) that is what I see as end game content.

Either way I'll probably end up not doing the final quest of the story until I have absolutely done everything I can possibly do.

A bonus dungeon like in most JRPGs would be neat. Fighting the strongest enemies that require the best gear and optimal setups would be fun.

I am actually SUPER excited about the end game content. I played Fable 2, one of my other favorite games, before I played dragon age: origins and I remember being disappointed when I finished Dragon Age and wasn't allowed to keep exploring and doing other stuff. In Fable 2 I think I spent a huge chunk of playtime finishing things up and doing new things after I finished the main plot and I am excited to finally be able to do the same in Dragon Age.
