Why an ugly Morrigan?

Cultural beauty ideals do not necessitate conformity of individuals with those ideals.

There are plenty people within various cultures who'd find the current Morrigan design attractive. And there are plenty who don't. It's sad for you that you do not like it compared to the DAO version, but character design changes are inevitable with engine transfers and I am certain the character artists did their best not only to recreate Morrigan as close to the original visionas possible, but also to fit their new game's vision.

Ok, it's true. I dont agree w/ you when you say about "CONFORMITY OF INDIVIDUALS", because this is not the point.

Certain "clichê" we can find here and there... Morrigan in DAO shows some traces they just throw out now.

Agreed.

Also agreed but that hair every time I see it I just want to either push those bangs out of her eye or cut them off. Morrigan looks fine, Leliana looks fine so far to me all the characters look fine even if some look a tad overly shiny. :)

She looks good. If anything, she looks better.

I love how she looks now. Looks a lot more powerful. She exudes this aura of pure capability and confidence.

Ah yes, the upset of a digital character appearance.  Oh the humanity.

YMMV and all, but the only returning characters I've thought still look good are Varric, and Cullen, who has improved a hell of a lot. There's something about Morrigan that's just..off..and Cass got a "darker and edgier" remake.

Seriously?  ANOTHER thread about how unattractive the characters are?  Great, just what we needed......

It's like the Lay's chip slogan.

Betcha Can't just have one?   :)

Spoiler

I like all these posts I put into spoiler tag, I ran out of likes gain.... ugh so stingy with the likes.  :(   I would love to run my fingers through her hair, brushing... uhm... ahem... enough daydreaming before it goes too far.  :P

DA:I show us an ugly Morrigan. There is no more the beautiful and sensual witch from Korcari whom we play in DA:O. Unfortunately her face was rudely transformed in DA:i. Intentional mistake? I think so, since Leliana still is beautiful; Not much different, it continues them to me attractively.

Why Bioware didn't "remake" THIS the Morrigan at time? Simply I don't manage to understand...

I agree (and I did post about this a few times already ;) )

And it's not only her either:

Cassandra got hit with the de-beautification stick, too (she was beautiful in DA2 - and now she is pretty average (not really ugly))

greetings LAX

I don't think either of us would draw back our hands if we tried to push the hair out of her face (or in your case run your finger through it)

If we're lucky we may just get nubs back where our hands once were >>

She's a beauty, and I'm not seeing what the problem is here.  Plus, that trailer from which the screenshot was is from last year, so we might be jumping the gun here.  Also, for those that complain she looks older, well...she is older.  It's been 10 years since we saw her last, and I think that would put her in her early to mid 30s.  I think she looks great and just like with Cassandra, it seems to be fitting in with her original concept art with the new engine.

Besides, all of this talk about looks has gotten a little silly.  When we fire up the game, I doubt most of us are going to care about the upgrades and changes that returning cast members have had for their appearance.  We'll find a lot more things to nitpick, I'm sure.   :P

Didn't they model Morrigan in Inquisition off of a BioWare employee who cosplays Morrigan (out of respect and friendship, I assume), or is that just a rumor? If so, I think people should be a bit more nice in expressing opinions on Morrigan's appearance, and calling her a him.

I happen to be one of the people that finds most of the companions/advisers to be ugly but come on... Morrigan is in no way ugly in DA:I, yes she looks a bit older but that's to be expected since it's been 10yrs(?) since Origins.

Morrigan knows futanari magic duh

....I'd be ok with that.

Whoa, I don't mind the remake either, but let's not get carried away here.

Watching Jack Nicholson act in this sequence is the reason I stopped playing the tabletop version.  If Morrigan exists solely to cater to player vanity, her existence is as meaningful as the scene that's being portrayed.  I'm expecting much, much more.

There was a tabletop version of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest?

I still can't figure out why this bothers me to the point of obsession.  Maybe it's because I'd be tickled pink if the character I want to play managed to look like someone suave and worldly or whatever instead of wet behind the ears and gullible.  At least since DA:I is single player I won't have to deal with anyone else's ego unless I want to.  I only wish I had remembered the drawbacks of multiplayer when I signed on.  I can't say often enough how glad I am that they're not going down this road.

To be clear: there is no multiplayer for DA:I nor is there any planned.  Thank the Maker.  Let's fight some bad guys.  As a special perk, you'll be allowed to be competent.
