Beauty is subjective. I find Morrigan's new design more attractive than her old. Your original post made it seem like you assume everyone must agree with you that she is ugly... You mentioned a 'standard ideal' of beauty for females but the truth is, everyone's personal standard is different. Yay, individuality makes the world an interesting place ~

I like Morrigan in both instances.  I think the difference is partially graphics related between two different generation systems.

As far as women and beauty goes, Morrigan, a woman in her mid thirties, if I am not mistaken, still looks good.

 

She looks great especially if you consider the fact she is a mother now. She has had to raise a kid all by her own and everything. 

 

Plus we get to see her properly in game. By contrast, Leliana has not had any pregnancy of any form. Additionally, she covers her hair up. You never know it could be because she has a bald patch there. 

 

Morrigan is, for all intense and purposes, a MILF. She looks really good as a MILF. 

 

Does that mean I think Morrigan cannot be more beautiful ? I think she could and she should. After all, we have seen witches like Triss Merigold and Yennefer of Vergenberg using magic to make themselves look youthful and beautiful.

 

Morrigan as we see her in DA:I, does not use any magics of that sort, as far as we know, and she still looks good.

My mind... has EXPLODED. I love FFX, but didn't realize until your post just how identical Morrigan and Lulu look. Of course they have differences but... If Morrigan were in the Final Fantasy universe, that would be her.

I think Leliana, Varric and her appearances have been handled very well. They look exactly how I would imagine them with new-gen graphics. Apart from the fact that Leli has a deeper red tone in her hair. Let's hope they can get the other returning character's look right.

 

Cassy does look a little bit different from herself in DA2, imo. Not that it's a bad thing. I think it's the eyebrows. Morrigan's eyebrows have been shaped a bit, as well.

 

Actually, do you guys know anyone who has compiled DAO-DAI comparison screenshots of them all? I'd love a side by side comparison... I could do it myself but...

I was working on a comparison chart with Morrigan, Leliana, Cassandra, and Varric, but my computer crashed and now the file won't open.

 

The most pertinent change regarding Morrigan, at least, is her mouth. It's wider in DAI, and her lips are thinner.

I hope they make Alistair look good, they made him look horrible in DA2.

Beauty is subjective. They're also not going to make every female the epitome of stereotypical beauty just to please you.

 

Also: She's older. She's not going to remain youthful forever. Some women also age more gracefully than others.

 

But every time this topic is brought up, I always return to my original point: Beauty. Is. Subjective.

I personally think Cassandra is gorgeous. Many others will disagree. That's the great thing about having your own perspective. Everyone experiences things in different ways. The appearance of others included.

I think they split it 50/50 between Blackwall's beard and Varric's chest hair

I didn't find her particulary attractive in the trailer (yeah, that trailer that's over a year old). But I find her very decent looking in the picture JobacNoor posted.

 

Either way, it's silly judging a character's look over pictures so old. Let's wait until we see some newer pictures and then we can judge like the superficial beings we are

I personally think Morrigan looks really really hot in fact she looks older more confident and I love that Hair, she has an aura of mysticism & Chaos about here that drives me wild.

Why Bioware didn't "remake" THIS the Morrigan at time? Simply I don't manage to understand...

Because they hate you, and only you. The devs looked at the data gathered from your DA:O playthroughs and used that information to ruin your romance  experience retroactively by making Morrigan look like someone you would find unattractive in DA:I. Judging by this thread they succeeded.

 

In all seriousness, people need to stop assuming that their basis for what is beautiful is the one that must be used for romance characters in Bioware games.

They modeled her almost exactly after the cosplay of one of their employees, Jessica merizan.

 

It makes me kind-of nervous about calling morrigan unattractive since it now reflects on a real person and not just the good or bad job an artist did. With that said, I liked the earlier models and CGI of Morrigan better.
