According to the Wiki:

"If Shepard prevents James from stopping the process twice, it leads to Ann's incapacitation with James walking her out for medical treatment. If she survives the ordeal relatively unscathed, she tells Shepard that Leviathan is very angry and wants to kill the Commander.

If Ann survives her ordeal relatively unscathed, she announces that she will assist Admiral Hackett after Shepard finds the Leviathans and secures their aid."

And I recall James saying afterwards something like "it's a shame Ann didn't see her father's work come to fruition". Does that mean she's simply too incapacitated, or that she's dead?

PS: super-annoyed that we were force-saddled with the 2 least popular squaddies in multiple interactions.

She can survive if you don't take all of the Renegade interrupts.

It's portrayed rather crappy IMO.

As a Paragon Shepard, I do not allow her to continue, and she is alive and well in the DLC conclusion. One gains enough intel to investigate, so placing her in further jeopardy is not required.

Nah, she doesn't die regardless, but she will not join you in the war effort if you do go all the way with the interrupts, 'cause of her condition after prolonging the interaction with the Leviathan.

after the first rene-interrupt, you find out the cluster but you have to scan the 3 extra systems unlocked in that cluster. in the end you scan them all anyway for the extra assets. unless you don't care about those..........which I don't :D and any chance I get to yell at dumbo James, I take it.

I had her die once when I got the location. Now she stays alive and I go straight to Leviathan's location.

Yep; real enough. One who actually enjoys the game and various endings, at least the three I have chosen. Guess one does not have to play a Renegade to enjoy it.

My "neutral" Shepard (Cid, an engineer) is still my favorite Shepard, a pretty even mix of both paragon and renegade for the big decisions and attitude towards others.

I let her die once, just to see what happens. But she survives every other time.

I still RP with Bryson, since I don't really meta-game. My ReneShep lets her suffer for a while.

In the interest of science?

If enough results are produced, anything is justified.

Shep: OK, she's dead. What did we learn?
James: Uhhh... She just started twitching, man. Then it got worse.
Shep: EDI?
EDI: The signal originates on Despoina 2181, commander.
Shep: Giggity.

It's pretty easy to know 2181 Despoina is because it's a mostly all water kind of planet. Of course, first timers don't know about that. I don't bother to waste time if I know where it is already. Ann can avoid being crippled.

This, in so many words. Milking Bryson for her knowledge takes precedence in MelisandreShep's mind, regardless of me as the player knowing the outcome.

Even if she doesn't have to die to obtain (close enough to) the same information? When James says "we got enough!" He's not wrong.

Melisandre doesn't know that.  ;)

Comes down to how much Shep trusts her lieutenant, I guess.

I can't stand his personality, can't stand his VA. annoys the hell outta me.

Oh, she actually trusts James, more than most of the squad members in the trilogy.

She trusts her intuition more, though.

Fair enough, just seems like a waste when finding out the system Leviathan is in, is enough. Ann doesn't have to die for that.

I wish there was some other benefit to letting her die, other than 'Oh I RP a Shepard that does whatever it takes! Even though it doesn't really take this (her dying, to get what is needed anyway)!'

I guess it works okayish enough if you're a player/character who just absolutely hates researching anything. But that looks more FailShep than RenegadeShep, so I don't like this scene much.
