Hey all, i'm new to this forum, but not for DA: Origins that i played like 10-12 times, played every character in both Origins and Awakening. I think DA Origins was perfect. And even though it had some limitations, it had an awesome and really advanced feature of making mods. I mean, i became also a big fan of nexus world thru finiding some really good mods that were making my game look better (like more textures for DA or fix of specialization Sten). So my question is would we have an abilitiy to write mods, better to say would we be able to write mods that would be able to change or add something besides armory and weapons?

The DA 2 kinda disappointed me, and ironically that's the game i played only once comparing to its older brother. DA 2 disappointed because of it's lack of choice for clothing of your mates and the fact that there were basically no mods to make it better.

So going back to my first question, would we be able to create some new cool mods for this game or not?? By the way, i saw topic that was talking about adding faces and stuff for character maker, if there would be some type of "toolset" like it was for DA Origins, I believe there would be a lot of opportunitity for people to try to make the game better! Since we're all a big community that tries to make one big game become better all different ways.

My appologies to any misunderstanding due to my English. I'm foreign, but try my best :D

The devs have said that modding possibilities are going to be very limited on account of switching engines from Eclipse to Frostbite 3. There are certainly no plans to release a toolset at this stage - and there probably never will be.

On the positive side DAI is going to allow you to change your companion's armour.

Yeah, I saw that in gameplay of alpha DA.

Honestly, it feels extremely sad. Just sad. Pretty much nothing to add.

People who seem to think modding will be impossible are really underestimating the PC modding community. Give it some time after the game is released and people will have some mods out.

Modding does seem like it'll be highly restricted, at least for couple years until a modder(s) discover a way to make a work around actually work and shares what they know with the community.

I'm pretty sure though that even if there is no modding tool, new armors and cosmetic mods (like new hairstyles/skins) will be made.

However, I wouldn't expect any quest mod.

Not to mention that data editing, where numbers are changed and stuff, wont be too hard for established Modders.

Modders will find a way, but I wouldn't anticipate that it will work the same way as with the old games on the Eclipse engine. Frostbite is an entirely different beast.

Some things I'm hoping for from the modding community:

-Hiding helmets individually for each character, rather than the single toggle that hides all of them

-When the player clicks on something that requires a certain class to use/do, a companion with that class will run up and do it automatically

-Customizable iconic/default faces (my favorite mod from DA2)

Saw your post on the DAO forum and you've got some good mods.  There are some good ones on nexxus for DA2 as well.  I have one that retextures the environments that I highly recommend but can't remember the name of.

Override existed in Eclipse (and its predecessors) as a development tool. That we could use it for modding was cool, but not its core function.

I asked whether something like that would exist in Inquisition, and the response (from Allan Schumacher) was "not likely." He went on to explain that Frostbite had better ways of allowing the developers to roll out updates, so they no longet needed it.

Unlike in previous games, where allowing us the use of Override required only that they not remove it before release, now such a thing would need to be built from scratch just for us.

DA 2 disappointed because of it's lack of choice for clothing of your mates

On that front, I found the Diversified Follower Armor mod essential to my enjoyment of DA2.

It's available on Nexus.

I should probably mention that DA:I will not have an Override folder. Or so I read on David Gaiders blog.
