This is, of course, assuming that this band somehow has access to MEWhatever's plot components.

The spider metaphor doesn't not make sense or anything.  It's just silly in conjunction with the rest of the song, and in context of a science-fiction credit wrap.

Yeah I don't think I disagree with you, as you explained yourself here.

Still, it may depend on the tone of the game. I'm about... 90%+ sure that the next game won't be about a big war (ME3) against a monolithic force (ME1-3). Maybe these lyrics could make sense. We'll see! Or not - if this song isn't legit for the next game. Heh.

This track should have been on Extended Crap. The lyrics fit.

As for Faunts, I think Sleepwalker would work.

Idk....for me the 'spiders' part isn't what makes me cringe. It's the "crowd calling my name" and "turn our science into art" parts that are really just 'Ughhh' terrible. Sounds like some cheap lyrics from a late 90's nu-metal/rock band that didn't quite make it.

But hey, I've heard good music with terrible lyrics and I've heard good lyrics with terrible music. I'd prefer the former for an end credits song.

Good points Mcfly. I'm trying not to let my optimism about it get the better of me!

I've always allowed a little cheesy in Mass Effect. It's why I accept stuff like the awkward elevator conversations and Citadel DLC as a whole, haha.

The closing credits are supposed to make me want to hang on for another five to ten minutes while mentally shaking my butt to the beat and scanning the list for funny or cool looking last names ("guess the gender", "guess the nationality", "spot the cheesy nickname", and "do any consecutive initial letters form a word" are optional activities as well). The kinda-sorta Gene-Loves-Jezebel-ish vocal tracks used in the past, as well as this one here, however, are only telling me "Please try not to press the PS button with your nose while nodding off to the unobtrusive, kinda formulaic song playing in the background." I don't wish to sound overly critical because, hey, I'll be happy with whatever they throw at me... provided it's not "Let the Bodies hit the Floor".

you know what I say? LET THE BOOBIES HIT THE FLOOOOOOOR!!!

I love Faunts. Yet this song isn't all that great. No. Maybe if it was just a instrumental with a little extra love.

Holy fahk. Upon hearing this song, HELL YES. Make it the credits theme. Beautiful. I love that riff and that atmopheric, almost retro synth sound. It's like Perterbator. It's got throwback undertones reminiscent of M4 Part 2. It's different and more developed vocally than their songs off Feel.Love.Thinking.Of. and before.

This isn't Faunts.

Maybe I really should make this very, very clear in the OP.

This is a terrible song.  It is the only opinion I can come up with, unfortunately.  I apologize for the lack of explanation why.

That was my original thought, though seeing the mention of them in the quoted paragraph made me go, "this IS Faunts!?"

Thanks for the clarification, you should edit the OP.

Updated OP. (To me) Its too bad that most posting here are not liking it, because it does speak to the concepts and tone that I tend to think the next game will explore. The genre isn't my favorite, but neither was M4 Part II anyway.

Really dreadful song, I hope its' not the case.

Also for people posting, why the hell it should be Faunts? They're not that noteworthy to Mass Effect series as a whole.

Hell their song picked for ME3 end credits was just lame.

Hopefully if they get it they record it on a better production budget.

This one sounds really demo-ish.

I don't think I really like the idea of a song being intentionally written to be the credit theme for a game that we know practically nothing about. It really feels like they're trying to force something that shouldn't be forced with this plan. I mean, Faunts was chosen because the devs felt like their music represented a game that was nearing completion, and that was done so with the advantage of hindsight. They weren't applying or writing for the opportunity beforehand, and I think that's a big part of why it worked so well.

No damn singing please.

I don't want to hear a single word in the entire soundtrack.

Updated video description.

this was pretty early on in the process. The news made our day. We've been sticking to phone calls since. If we get more in writing like contracts, I'll image capture it. Sam Hullick found us through a publication company we work with. As you know, he's one of the head composers for all three games. He became a huge fan of the track, reached out, and is now pushing it to the developers. We received a call saying it was a hit with the developers AND the other head composer; J. Wall, saying casually "it's definitely a finalist". Sadly as that was over the phone; I can't image capture that. Again, whatever writing comes in next will get image captured. Track available at www.litesweetcrude.bandcamp.com

I think this would fit as a Credits track. It's got the same kind of Faunts vibe, so why not? But it's up to BioWare and there are probably tons of other fitting tracks out there / ready to be composed, so let's just wait and see. Guess we'll find out in 2016 or so.
