Here's a random though that just came to me after reading this thread ( http://forum.bioware...riendly-dragon/ ).

What if the Maker is Flemeth.

All High Dragons are female.

Flemeth is a female and implies in DA2 that she is a dragon.

The old Gods are all High Dragons, and they had to come from somewhere.

Flemeth is called an abomination unlike any other by Morrigan in Origins.

What if the Maker was displeased with what the Dragons were doing, creating and empire and interfering in the affairs of the mortal races, and she punished them by trapping them deep within the earth.

In retaliation, the Old Gods tricked the magisters into going to the Makers Golden City, thereby corrupting it. This not only corrupted the city, but drove the Maker from the fade and onto the lower planes.

There, the Maker meets Flemeth, and the two strike a deal, and now they inhabit the same body as a merged being, much the same as Wynne & Anders and their spirits are also fused.

This allows the Maker to hide and carefully manipulate events from behind the scenes, and allows Flemeth the immortality and power she desires.

I imagine the maker would be against some kind of merging though because that's like what some mages like Anders do with demons. Is it specifically stated that the maker dislikes mages? I know the chantry does. I like the retaliation part, they could've been trying to gain more power over the maker too, to increase their hold on Thedas.

It would've been an easy task to manipulate Andraste and those close to her with dreams and visions and such, putting them on the path to taking down the Imperium.

If the theory is true, and all of the Maker's children are daughters, it would explain why all of Flemeth's children are also daughters.

Keep in mind, this is just a random idea, so if anybody feels like throwing a tantrum in my thread, rather than discussing the idea in a civil manner, I'd like to kindly invite them to **** off.

"The Chantry says a lot of things."

Seriously though, the Maker is a God, and it's the height of arrogance to believe that you (you meaning a member of the Chantry or anybody else who believes in the Maker), a mere mortal, can fathom such a being, its power or its desires and goals.

Hmmm, I wonder if Leliana is going to play an extremely important role in DA:I since she received dreams like Andraste. Never heard the part about the Maker's children before, didn't know he had any xD

The first post was solid. Posts after that suggest this was accidental.

I wonder why then the maker and Flemeth would want to trap an Old God's soul in Morrigan's child? Because it was Flemeth who told her the ritual. Still an interesting theory.

And the maker WAS displeased about the Old Gods being worshipped, but supposedly that caused him to turn his back on the world and not help. Then somehow Andraste convinced him to after she realized the dreams she received were from him. ( read this on the Dragon Age Wiki on Andraste)

I said if the theory is true ;)

Well, it would explain why it's always women. Andraste, Lelian, (possibly) Flemeth.

And think, Flemeth wanted a child born with the soul of an Old God.

Now, we know there's a possibility that Morrigan and the other daughters are not Flemeth's biological children, so perhaps she intends to produce a child with Morrigan's god-child in order to have a new body and regain her power, so she can undo the taint and banish the demons.

Again, blood magic induced dreams/illusions to guide/manipulate her into following a certain path.

Heh, what can I say, I like storylines involving complex plots filled with subterfuge and all manner of manipulations and scheming etc. Just makes it that much more fun.

Problem with this theory. The legend of Flemeth is tied to the death of Bann Conobar Elstan, allowing his captain of the guard, Sarim Cousland, to control Highever. This took place sometime in the Towers Age, roughly around the time frame of the Third Blight. The First Blight took place in -395 Ancient, and the death of Andraste (the other incident that allegedly drove the Maker away) in -170 Ancient. Why would the Maker wait several centuries before finally thinking "This particular angry woman will serve as the perfect host!"?

Who says the Maker did? Perhaps The Maker was busy manipulating things from the shadows, and then came the time for Flemeth to play her part as her side of the agreement struck between them.
