I love how everybody is obsessed with making perfect Qunari names, mining the Qunari language and everything.

So, anybody started thinking about what to name your character yet?
I admit to being a little silly/cheesy and decided to have all my Dragon Age characters (the first playthroughs) start with the letter "V." My Origins character was named Valeria, my DA2 character was Valentina, and I've decided, for now, that my DA: I Inquisitor will be named Valora. Sounds about right, don't you think? Any proceeding playthroughs will have different names, obviously. My Qunari Mage in particular will take some serious thought.
That sounds interesting. Why did you pick V for the first letter of their names? Are you going to choose a qunari word for your V-named Vashoth?
What about you guys? Any decisions made?
My elven Inquisitor will be named Revas (it's elven for "freedom"). I'm looking forward to playing as a pro-elven protagonist who can guide the fledgling Inquisition to help the Elvhen, so I think the name is fitting. I'm uncertain about my Dwarven and Vashoth protagonist, given the lack of concrete information about their respective backgrounds; I'll likely have a better idea of how I might handle them once I've played through my first run.

Same here. I have a list of names but first I need to see how the character looks in the CC. However, I like the name Lanea from my list for a female Inquisitor the most at the moment. So, I will have to see if the name feels right.
I have a list of 16 names collected ahaha. Some are Qunlat, some are based off Sanskrit/Hindu names, and a couple are even pulled from Norse origins. I haven't even thought of what my elfquisitor is gonna be named yet ahaha...
List hidden to keep the thread neat and tidy but here it is:
I have no doubts more will be added before release.

I tried to come up with a few names, but found nothing really mind-blowing so far. a few names that I might use:
Igni Cadash (female)
Calhoun Adaar (female)
The Adaar (because Adaar already sounds like a perfect name for my male Qunari and I'm afraid I'll have to type in some kind of firstname, so...)
I also thought about calling a female human Inquisitor Capucine Trevelyan, but since we're from the Free Marches now I'm not so sure about that.

I like names that sound silly or pretentious. That's why nobody ever refers to my PC by their first name. ![]()
Human female rogue: Penelope Trevelyan.
Human male warrior: Percival Trevelyan.
That's all I got for now.

Trevelyan. Alec Trevelyan.
Nah I kid. Probably rolling with the default name unless it's assface or something like that.

Human rogue: Acantha meaning sharp pointed or thorny. She'll probably be a no-nonsense, hard to get along with, sarcastic pain in the ass.
and I think for my male rogue it'll be Andrian meaning brave and/or manly.

For now, I only have the first two:
Chrysoprase "Chrys" Cadash, ex-Carta and lady rogue archer. Chrysoprase is a type of green stone. I plan on having green eyes as well.
Auron Trevelyan, based on the FFX character.

I have found some names for my inquisitors, nice enough that I'll probably stick with them:
Sirid Adaar - female qunari warrior. Doesn't have any meaning to my knowledge, but sounds good to ear.
Janel Lavellan - female elven mage. Got it from generator, and sounds elven enough.
Fréda Cadash - female dwarven rogue. Not sure if I keep apostrophe, since I don't think dwarfs have these things in their names...? Otherwise it's fine.
Ashtad Adaar - male qunari mage. Again from name generator, and fits with surname. No known connections to DA lore.
Griffith Trevelyan - male human warrior. Real-life name that I think fits with DA world.
First one is my starting character, others will have to wait their turn.

Well I will be going my favourite route again for my first run, Dalish she-elf.
Not sure what I'll call her but it will be an Irish name, not going with mine though, gotta think of something else. Perhaps I will name her after one of our Celtic queens or after another inspiring woman from our history. Or I could just get lazy and flip through a magazine and pick the first name I find. Also a possibility.

Ophya Lavellan - Elf Mage
Still working on others.

Dwarfy McGoo for an Elf, Elfy McGee for a Dwarf, Over-Hyped for a Qunari and Cliche for a Human.
Joking aside I thought of Dodger for an elf Rogue and Gardale for the White Mage I will inevitably play.

Not sure what i'll call my male Qunquisitor yet, qunari names are difficult to create
Female Qunari will be "Koshira" (Arishok backwards)
Swap the a and i and you'll have a very famous meal here (in Egypt) (No really, just google Koshari)

I'm going to do multiple runs, at least one from each race. So far, I'm thinking:
Freya (Cadash), for my dwarf
Aife (Lavellan), for my elf
Ashari (Adaar), for my qunari
Haven't settled on a human name yet. I was thinking French (Astrid, Adrienne, Violette) because of Orlais, but now that I know Trevelyan is a Free Marcher, I'm uncertain.

Not sure. It may have been that I started with Valeria and decided to go from there, or that I like V-names because I think they sound cultured and mythical. If we get a DA4 (which we will, let's be honest), I may very well go with Velvet, since I always choose rogue first. Or Vesper.
I mean check out these names:

Main Inquisitior (Male Human Mage): Christoph Trevelyan
Male Elf Mage: Ignatius Lavellan
Female Elf Mage: Silvia Lavellan
Female Qunari Mage: Serach Adaar <-- Serach means "free of restraint" in Hebrew.
Female Human Rogue: Joana Trevelyan
Male Elf Rogue: Gideon Lavellan
Female Dwarf Rogue: Margaret Cadash
Male Dwarf Warrior: Troy Cadash
Male Qunari Warrior: Saar Adaar <-- Saar means "dangerous" in Qunlat. It flows nicely with the Qunari Inquisitor's last name.
Male Human Warrior: Maximilian Trevelyan
Female Elf Warrior: Taiah Lavellan
