They most likely aren't adding anything

Yup. It seems polishing the game and but fixing is their main focus.
I'm not that bothered by the delay. Waiting to have some News from Sept/Oct 12 to June (actually August when the GI coverage was up) 13 was far worse. Good luck to Bioware in finishing the game :).

I think just maybe he was  trolling you.

BioWare doesn't troll or joke, that's why this new release date is real.

At least with the original October 7th date, I was able to plan out my gaming budget for October and November, but now - it looks like end of October through mid-November just became a lot more expensive.. but it's going well worth it.
I have faith that the minor delay will be worth it in the long run.
But please Bioware, if you have to delay past November - please.. please don't target February-2015, or more specifically February 24th.

Watch_Dogs wasn't delayed so much as it wasn't ready when Ubisoft showed it off in E3 2013. Catching the devs by surprise (I cant quite remember where I read this)

Because I feel cheated out of the 60-70 dollars I paid to pre-order the game.

You can always cancel the pre-order and get your money back (or with origins never have the money taken)

-I think it's worth noting that Bioware has received A LOT of backlash in the past 4 years, i.e: people aren't so confident about the company or the game, so when a scenario that's very similar to that of another game that turned out to not be so good, people are going to make such assumptions.

-The analogy is hardly overreacting, because it's a very similar scenario (again..), you're close to getting something you've been looking forward to, then all of a sudden you have to wait for yet even more time, you're going to get disappointed, really disappointed.

-A good business doesn't also hype something up that had a defined date, giving everyone the impression everything was fine and how the content is finished, etc, over the course of a few months then delays it because in the end they needed more time.

-In the end, of course the customer will care more about the quality, but there'll always be that voice in the back of their heads saying "but you waited too long"

I'm not trying to attack Bioware or anything, in fact I support their decision, this game needs to be perfect. But an act like this is bound to backlash badly at start, but people will get over it in under a week. So don't attack them for having very human feelings.

Let me sum my thoughts:

I think fans are fine to be disappointed because they care. At the same time, lets not overreact because of disappointment (as we've seen some not only here but also on other DA-related sites).

If we can agree here, then we are in agreement.

Unfortunately, I can't confirm that it's the ultra ultimate definite no-take-backsies release date, although I'd be ridiculously surprised if it slipped again. Take that for what it's worth.

If it isn't, my wrath will scorch you like the heat of 10,000 suns.  And you should have moved it to October 26.  Because that is my birthday.  And I am the only important fan.  So there.

Yeah it's a bit disappointing, but it's not like six weeks is a long time to wait for a game we'll probably play for a few years to come. I feel sorry for the devs though, they were probably looking forward to a well earned rest and that's been delayed by six weeks.

We work in the same building as a hotel, so you dont have to worry about accommodations, heck I may join you in the pub for a drink if you do :)

Urrrgggh.I'd be lying if I said wasn't reallly really reeeeaaaaally disappointed, but I suppose this is for the best.  I hope this isn't a sign of them struggling with the scope of the game etc and really is just them needing basic polishing and so on.  I do NOT want another DA2 though, so I can deal with the wait and overall I suppose, amongst the disappointment and worry, I am thankful for them not just rushing it out instead.

Boo.

Not boo because of doubt or worries. Just, boo, I want it sooner =P Fortunately, I'm patient and think extra debugging and quality assurance is a good thing.

Also, the new release date is a couple days before my birthday, so I suppose I know what my plans'll be now XD

If people are okay with delays, does that mean they would be ok pushing the game back another year?  I mean, another year of development means another year of polish, right, right?  Seriously, DAI is going to be coming out towards the holidy rush period and unfortunately for it, I doubt it'll be one of the season's best sellers.  I feel the game will suffer for it, but whatever.  At this point, I'll just wait for a GOTY edition becausey hey, we've waited this long, what's another year of waiting right?

And since when are you an expert on sales?  Origins came out in November and did quite well during the holidays.

I'm ok with this, more time to make a quality game. Besides Oct. 7 just seemed like an odd time. (despite it being perfect for my birthday <.<;; ) Release the game closer to the holiday season would mean it's less likely to have dropped in price and more people will have money saved up to buy this for Christmas. :)

It's a win for EA, Bioware and us.

That being said, I wonder if they'll ever mention some of the bugs (maybe amusing?) that are causing this delay.

That just makes too much sense, It's way more productive to complain.

Emotional reaction:

  • Darn

Logical reaction:

  • A few more weeks to polish = better game, take the time you need BioWare.
  • Other games delays were many months. This is only a further 6 weeks, no big deal.

Thread reaction:

  • Wow, everyone who is anyone at BioWare seems to be on this thread
  • Except David who I suspect went to lie down after the rubbish in the romance thread
  • Please chill out people with toys coming out of prams: not classy

Cheeky reaction:

  • Time to slip in some extra Bi voice-actor work then  ;)
  • And anything you thought was easy and cool but you just didn't have time to fit in.
  • Not expecting it of course but your call...

Market reaction:

  • Champagne comes out at Monilith (Shadow of Mordor's developers)
  • Reaction at Ubisoft probably neutral. Assassins Creed now upstream, Far Cry 4 on same day
  • Not much else in November that i like the look of at all, could even be a marketing win for BioWare releasing then.

Reveal reaction:

  • If the release is pushed back 42 days, so are the reveals to the BioWare forum (!)
  • Yet the forum is a bit tender now, some nice reveal soon to look at would be very reassuring please.
  • BioWare being visible and clear & supportive about the delay is good, other studios have stuffed up such announcements.

Gaming reaction:

  • Shadow of Mordor gets a preorder then, as well, that's first up for October now.
  • 3 weeks to clear Assassin's Creed? Yes that's plenty of time. (Shadow of Mordor in Paris, or other way round)
  • Dragon Age Inquisition in November - good times through to 2015.

Overall reaction:

  • Keep the faith
  • Hang in there BioWare
  • It will be worth it

There are no bugs, their making the tree's prettier, and the animals fluffier, and the Templars more Templarier

I wouldnt say there is a small subset of bugs that are causing a delay, you would be surprised what can be found and fixed in a short period of time, with some of the talent we have here.

OK, since I see Allan takes part in this discussion I will post it here (and the necroed thread may slip into oblivion):

Hi again, lets talk about my hunch...

I would like to "impose" my question again - do you have...errr... did Bioware had enough time? Considering all the replies to my 1st post, where I was almost stomped to the ground by making... a judgement as you put it, let me ask: why the delay? And please dont give me that PR talk about an extra time to make things shine for us players to make it an awesome game (which, in truth, is partially true I belive). The backlog says to me BW was short on time it seems, so they had to move the release back (forward?), to November.

"Will you have enough time for Alpha and Beta?  This seems really late to me".

If anyone wishes to continue ni respective thread here's the link:

http://forum.bioware...ne-alpha/page-8

I think almost 4 years in the making of this game is plenty of time

hopefully this has been mentioned before

so i can see here people are upset with more waiting for a game that was about to be release
