Wait  a minute, Turkey, Mashed potatoes and DAI

It suddenly occurs to me that the original release date would have fallen a couple days before Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.  That's what Allan probably meant when he said the change going to interfere with holidays. :( I wonder how many devs won't get the long weekend off now.

Stop mentioning things I would pay for in shame.

No the expectation was a good portion would be taking vacation in september (since that is when we would have been in cert, and there is less to do then). But now that isnt really possible since september now becomes our busiest time.

Not surprising, considering almost ALL next gen games are being delayed.

I wouldn't really consider this a next gen game since, its on last gen, and the hardware is nearly a decade old............

Oh, damn.

I like that it's getting more time to be polished, but... Since I'm having a long visit to a family member from October 31st to February 1st, with no way to play DA:I, I am quite devastated. I had counted on the release date to be on the 7th so I would at least have had 24 days to play a little bit. I won't be able to play until January, at all.

I'm going to go cry now. Unless someone wants to comfort me with hugs... Please?

*Hugs*

Have a safe trip. :)

Is there a reason you can't take the money you planned on using from October and set it aside, therefore, keeping your original money timeline?

Knowing my luck if I don't spend these money on a game I will have to spend them on something else. Like a doctor, or food, or new pair of winter footwear. Cest la vie
It is not really about me, though. I can handle it, but I know some people who are really poor and keep playing a game they bought years ago on a PC with winXp or 98. For them even buying new clothes is a issue and they literally scrape little money they can earn to buy this new shiny cool PC or a game and plan every week, every dollar, every cent
So when people make fun of people's expenses it really irks me

It will be worth it if you guys release another critically acclaimed game, like Mass Effect 2, KotOR etc. You'll make a lot of happy people out of gamers picking up the game.

I'm looking for my like button to show some love to the college student on a fixed income and it went away.  What have I done now?

At any rate, put the money in an envelope and lie, sister.  You deserve something for yourself.

At the time of my original prediction, I also said that they were going have to delay it to Spring '15(if they were smart). And I still stick by that opinion. They don't have the man power, the time, or the technical prowess to pull it off in time. Not unless they want to release a noticeably incomplete, bug ridden game.

I know I'm going to regret asking, but... how can you possibly know that any of what you just said is true?

Thanks for clarifying, and sorry some of you guys had your vacations messed up.  That's pretty short notice for something like a trip, so I know I'd be upset.

Indeed, there is a note of value for the money, I can understand why some people can be affected by this.

In super technical sense, us (as in a company), make less off people (a consumer) by pushing back. Due to the principal of time value of money.

In the case of people who had trips planned off and booked they arent being canceled, the company will let them still go. Just those that were being told that we should take some vacation before release now will be taking it in Oct instead of Sept.

They didn't give a date for the Keep before. I highly doubt they will now. I'd just go with the month in advance estimate... So mid October now.

i'm a bit gutted, but i guess it gives me more time to finish reading asunder and the masked empire, but oh my god waiting is like hanging from a cliff by your little pinkie, at least i have the money put aside already so i don't need to worry about that, and hopefully nothing goes wrong with my pre order it should be on disc too, fingers crossed it is, my other 2 games are disc versions

While I am disappointed because I was looking forward to playing this game, I just want to say I support the development team in this... I can certainly wait, and would prefer to play a game that's more polished and less buggy even if it means waiting.  Though I do feel bad for people who took time off work to play it, I was also feeling bad for the devs tweeting about stress/no sleep/ridiculous hours/etc.  Hopefully this means they can put out a game they are proud to share, without killing themselves over it.

And, frankly, a lot of what I see here on this thread is coming across as petulant whining, with a whole lot of weird baseless paranoia thrown in. I mean, it's one month, guys. You'll still get your game, and it's likely going to be even more wonderful for the wait.  Reeelaaaaax  :)

First, I know delays have earned a crummy reputation. Companies that don't need to be named have pushed back games until they just never happened. Or possibly worse, they happened and were still buggy as a swamp. However, BioWare has an excellent track record. That is something BioWare has earned by crafting excellent game after excellent game. A company well known for making sure it's games receive the polish before they ship and the support after.

Second, this delay wasn't announced early in development when it could mean that something had derailed badly. DA:I is in pre-Alpha or Alpha now. What does this mean? It means that features are basically set. That this extra time will be spent on polish, on working out bugs, and making features run excellently. This means that the game, when it reaches your hands will not be busted. It also means that the game will not be continuously pushed back.

Third, show the devs some freakin` love. They are breaking their backs to get this game to us in the state that both they and we want to see it in. Which will knock our socks off!

So, please, don't whine about the change, I understand for those that already put in vacation requests, it seriously sucks. It is disappointing when plans go awry, but be glad that you won't be sitting to play a bugged out game when you do sit to play it.

Thank you, BioWare, for standing on quality. I am always thankful that I can trust you guys to put the work in required to have an excellent game worth sinking my money into.

Ah, thanks but don't worry about me. I do have parents who have fine wages and hundreds of relatives. They can be royal pain but we do care about each other.
It is just that I am already 20+, my brother is probably getting married and I don't want to be a financial burden to my family. Plus, freedom with all its cons and pros. Like paying your own bill. So majestic

But... that's not how money works. You would have had to spend that money regardless of when DAI is coming out. You can take your expenditures and move them around as much as you want, but it doesn't change anything: your income is still X, and your expenses are still Y.
