I have a hard time visualizing what kind of quality difference six weeks could really have on a game of this scope and size. One less bug is one less bug but still... Maybe I'm thinking in too linear a fashion.
I suppose it's probably more productive to think of it not like six weeks, but 100,000+ man hours.
John Epler did state that one month of pre-release bug stomping is equivalent to a year of post-relase bug patching.
