5 weeks is a lifetime, especially since DAI is the only game in the last 2 years that im actually interested in
This is actually true, for a five week old.
I wonder what the forums would be like if the devs didnt answer peoples question on this (and joke back).
Learn a lot from reading bioware posts.
The Devs handed the delay news really well, really professionally.
Hats off to them as some studios would have messed up the announcement and said squat on the forums.
Really well done. Just check the BioWare only posts on this thread for the depth. ME team jumping in to help as well (I know they are kind of both).
OT: @Kantr: I am so impressed by your clever signature, I'll be shamelessly imitating that style at some point.

Good thing for Destiny, WWE 2K15 and FIFA 15. That should hold me over until November 18th.
If those five weeks allow them to create the best possible game they can make, then I'm all for this delay.
lol I have this image in my head. Devs sat round the meeting table, just come to the realisation they need more time.
Mark Darrah standing in the doorway
Ok, that's settled then. Only one more thing.......Who is going to break it to the fans?
Suddenly a panic ensues, people leaping out the windows (it's ground floor so they are ok). Tables and chairs flying as people scramble to their feet and make a mad dash to the door, trampling Mark on the way out. As he lay on the floor, he weakly raises his hand...Ok I guess that would be me then!
Oh, so most likely a Xmas release then. Darn....
This doesn't upset me much.
Better not be any major bugs at release now though.
Fair enough. Take all the time you need to make the best game you can, guys. Your hard work is appreciated ![]()
Edit: Also, thanks for being really open with your communication both via Twitter and in this thread x

I had a similar image pop up of the Inquisition stood around the war table, checking the calendar, and realising that they have to hold

If your a gamer for at least a couple of years you would be used to push backs and delays. Just be happy when you finally get the box in your hand or your computer has finished downloading it.
Barring any financial conspiracy, such delays are usually due to a critical system not working as intended on significant number of projected machines. And the planned fix time exceeding time to release.
Meaning: "It broke! It'll take too long to fix it! Delay!"
I don't consider delaying for just general polish. BW devs surely wouldn't make such a management mistake as to plan for more work than they had people/time to perform. It's probably something not easily foreseen and extraordinary.
Well be happy , coz October is filled with many good games
Plus lets face do you rly wanna get filled with bugs that would require couple months of patch downloading, lotsa crashes etc ?! ofc not. But now if there IS gonna be bugs still...then we all have rights to rage hard. Coz if you delay and still dont fix...then there is smth wrong with you EA/bioware..if its rly bugs related delay I think maybe more then a month should be...
Another good thing , you all can spend gaming related money on other games for october , which you should check is plenty and plenty of good ones.(hmm maybe thats real reason of delay?)
The downside is...they revealed WAAAAY to much stuff already , considering the waiting time now increased even more , less hardcore fans like me...may forget about it
while playing...aliens new game or civilization game
since all merketing events gonna end with summer , september and october they have to work hard on marketing ![]()

Nope, been one all my life, just really wanted it, now a longer wait. Prob going to be pushed 2015
I cool with the delay. Gives me time to play Shadow of Mordor in Oct. Also it close to Thanksgiving which I'm gonna have time off from work that I can devote to DAI ![]()
Nooooooo!
Now I have no excuse to not study for my finals.
Damn.
That's ok

November 18th is cool with me. The weekend after October 7th was going to be the last weekend before midterms, and I didn't really want to choose between Dragon Age and my grades.
Soooo...another month and some change for polishing the game? Making Blackwall's beard more majestic, tightening Cullen's curls, deepening Varric's clevelage, curling Dorian's epic mustache ... oiling up Iron Bull, untill he...glistens?*
Go ahead, Bioware. Please. Take your time. ![]()
*Well he already does in some scenes. But one can never have too much ... glistening ... or Iron Bull for that matter.

I'm curious how much this delay actually has to do with "polish" and how much it has to do with not releasing on the same day as Shadows of Mordor. My guess is 95-100%.
I would bet nothing on that really. Shadow of Mordor is at this time still a blip in the schedule.
It kind of reminds me of the first Dead Space or Brutal Legend, a game that came out in October and didn't sell as much as they hoped because the fall season was super crowded, and it was a good game. I doubt Mordor had anything to do with the rescheduling, I bet it actually was due to some bug hunting.
I agree. I can't see how a new game or franchise could scare EA more than Far Cry 4 which comes out on the same day as DAI. And maybe it is just but I just don't see it with Shadows of Mordor to even preorder it. It is a game which to me looks like a copy of the AC series in which mook#1 or mook#1005 could become your main nemesis. I can't see that being that much dufferent from a scripted mook climbing the ladders of some organization. I can't shake the feeling the story will be rather light.I would bet nothing on that really. Shadow of Mordor is at this time still a blip in the schedule.

Oh no not the endgame thing again this is getting old and boring , if you can't come up with this old , stale and boring comment then best.......<insert comment here>Originally my concern was the late (imo) alpha of the game. So I voiced my concerns. I was ridiculed and whatnot, I got a bit hostile I admit. My concern for the final product quality turned into anger. Then BW staf chimmed in and said you know nothing, we have time, we're on schedule, bla bla bla. People called me butt hurt and then some.
Now it turns out BW needs more time, as they said those 4 weeks can amount to 2 and a half months in crunchtime. Thats a lot. Am I to assume they will have crunch time? If so, in what state is the game really? That amount of time just for polishing? I would question that.
They say a lot of ME3 team is on the game (that may be irrevelat really). Should I expect a game where choices amount to nothing.. again? This statement is maybe a bit unfair, but thats my opinion. And if you are wondering or assuming I see more pressing concerns about ME3 and DA2 than the endgame or reused duneons.
BTW Some comment/s of mine was/were deleted by a mod - "non constructive" they say. Whatever. I see more "nonconstructive" posts in this thread yet my get deleted. I dont care anymore. Just an extension of BSN for you. I got dragged in ( and am to blame too) and I regret it.
That's ok
It's a marketing delay.
Not getting out my tinfoil hat and calling 'conspiracy!' but every game could be polished more, that's way so many games get patches for a year after they drop.
But you don't make sure your game is filling the isles of every store a week before Thanksgiving/Black Friday (the biggest shopping period of the year) by mistake. Or if it is a mistake some marketer should take credit fast anyway, haha.
