As I keep saying it's no big deal, play other games since I've plenty on my hit list and  hopefully newer video cards out from AMD/Nvidia for me to upgrade to by the time DA-I arrives on my PC ,I guess I'm the only one here that keeps seeing the bright side :) .

We all know RPGs get delayed so no surprise there.

Oh, I agree.  I actually wasn't going to be able to play the game until around december 20th already, so this delay really doesn't affect me at all.  Actually it just means less time that I'll have to resist spoiling myself, so I can see this as a plus.

I am feeling so full of angst right now.  Another four months to go....I can't....so bored!

September: Sims 4

October: Shadows of Mordor

November: DAI

hmmm, I can deal with that. At least now I don't have to feel guilty for waiting until Christmas to buy Shadows of Mordor--I can play it while waiting for DAI!

Besides, the more polished game, the better, usually.

Upon further contemplation... this is great. Its closer to winter break and won't conflict with the release of Smash for 3DS.

I already paid for my Inquisitor's Edition in full so "Broke-tober" isn't an issue for me, but I suppose with the push-back I'll have even more time to stare at my copy of Alien: Isolation and be too afraid to actually play it.  Fun fun fun!

On the bright-side, my kvetching about the game has finally gotten my bestie interested enough in playing DAO & she's currently loving it.

I'm okay with this, I prefer a delayed *polished* product over a rushed incomplete one *cough*KOTOR II*cough*

What a surprise, I was waiting to see this to happening. I expected a delay-announcement sooner though.

Ah well guess I'm going to play Alien: Isolation instead. I'm not really that interested in Shadows of Mordor, and not at all in the next Ass Creed iteration (I still need to play Brotherhood, Revelation, 3 and 4 to catch up...).

So Dragon Age is up against the next Far Cry now. I'm curious how much people would prefer FC4 over DA:I here, I know I won't...

Giving me some more hope on this, as some pointed out, I haven't been impressed to much with allot of the facial animations and all the vids have been on consoles, (can tell by the slow left and right scroll panning of the camera) so to me at least, I hope this is something being addressed for the pc version (hate that forced controller slow scrolling consoles do). The clipping in some of the latest videos might be in the polishing as well, there are some very notable issues and maybe these are being addressed and that's a good thing.

In any case, this does make me more inclined to pre-order.. Meh see what they release on more info in the future, have to say at least I am leaning more to actually pre-ordering at this point. Slowly but surly they are winning me back ;)

From Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of Dragon Age: Inquisition

I’m writing to let you know that Dragon Age: Inquisition has a new release date of November 18, 2014 in North America (November 21st in EU). We appreciate the enormous support we’ve received from all of you to get to this point, and while this extra few weeks may not seem like a lot, I know the game you’ll play will be all the better for it.

Since we began working on Dragon Age: Inquisition almost four years ago, our goal was to create the best Dragon Age experience ever. It was that goal that motivated many of our decisions: moving to Frostbite, bringing race choice and customization back, improving tactical camera, building a team of characters whose relationships evolve based on your actions, and most importantly, crafting an epic, nation-spanning story that both draws upon past games and takes you to many new places in the realm of Thedas.

I’m privileged to be a part of a team that has been working very hard to surpass every measure they’ve set for themselves. That has meant completing huge amounts of game content, fixing bugs both big and small, and improving the overall experience. This last bit of time is about polishing the experience we want you to see. Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible. Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero's choices. And ensuring the experience you get is the best it can be in the platform you choose to play on.

Thank you again for your patience and support!

Mark

Considering the level of customer vitriol that Dragon Age 2 justly earned for having been obviously rushed to market, a months or so delay is not too bad at this point. Based upon Mr. Darrah's comments about polishing the overall experience prior to the November 18 launch, it makes sense for them to work out any known kinks, but that brings up one point that is missing from this statement. I feel as if he should have expounded upon whether or not this necessary action would impact the availability of the Keep?

"A spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down" would have been appreciated!

We're still discussing what impact (if any) this will have on plans for the Keep so we don't have anything ready to share on that front right now.

I wish they did this. When announcing the delay, maybe show some new pictures or even a video to give at least some good news to cushion the blow.

wow so many pages in such a short time. guess people have some feels about this delay. so i might as well add mine to the pile  :D

"This last bit of time is about polishing the experience we want you to see. Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible." - this means that they'll be polishing the open world and exploration aspects and seeing how they're doing something of this scope for the first time i get that they need more time to get it right since it's a big part of the game.

"Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero’s choices." - hm. this is a tricky one. emotional impact smells like story changes to me but it's unlikely that they will be making any story changes at this point. so what seems more likely is that they want to represent "hero's choices" more physically in the world (a burned village etc.) which sounds interesting.

"And ensuring the experience you get is the best it can be in the platform you choose to play on." - this is the most straightforward sounding one to me and it has to do with optimizing the game for each platform which i wholeheartedly approve off. a whole month for optimization? YES PLEASE. :D

so all in all i'm optimistic regarding this delay (and the hair and eyes bugs getting fixed  ).

I'm totally okay with the delay. Would rather it be more polished. Also, it could totally be worse, Hardline went from have a set release date to be released sometime in "early 2015." At least we still have a date.

I don't mind DAI being delayed (if it means that the game doesn't have as many bugs) its just annoying that now its release date is about a week apart from the release of Far Cry 4.....

Considering what happened yesterday BioWare made a good job of announcing it

and BioWare devs and community folk were all over the forum yesterday evening making us feel ok. Nicely done.

That they are discussing these things today says to me that they will want to say something as SDCC tomorrow/Friday
(because they will surely be asked  )
and that they won't just let the community hang in the air for several weeks.

The main focus though is to let the devs get on with it.

Marketing and production team are of course - as long as it's polite - fair game  :D

I don't mind, I only worry because the release is getting closer to the Witcher, and I know a bunch of angry nerds are just gonna compare the two games instead of just enjoying whatever games they like to play.

I'm actually happy with this, go BioWare! Well, maybe EA had to "agree" to that, but whatever. Use all the time you can get to polish it guys.

If only ME3 received the same treatment... imagine the possibilities (by that I mean imagine if ME3 had been worked on for 3 or 3 and a half years instead of "just" two).

Anyway, to me it's always good news when a developer delays their game (it's just a month guys, we'll live through that).

As I see it, they can complain all they want-- I'll be too busy playing Inquisition to care about what they have to say, and my laptop is too weak to run The Witcher 3 regardless.

I think even if DAI came out in October I think it'd still be compared to the Witcher 3, their both really the first few next gen RPGs to come out since the release of next gen consoles (with Shadow of Mordor thrown in for good measure)

I loved DA2, so I don't know what you're talking about.

I loved DA2, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Hmm, I can't say that I loved DA2 but neither did I hate it as most
I just thought it wasn't on par with the Origins game and wasn't a true sequel to Origins to me it feld more like a spinoff ( not a very good one I must ad) and also DLC was also not upto scratch with some of the great stuff Origins has
( not counting the feat day gits and the Darkspawn monstrosity)
And so it treat and look at it as a spinoff and to me it seems Inqiusition is going to make us forget About DA2

Ja DA2 did some things right but messed up almost everything else that's why
Even Bioware is awfully quiet when it comes to DA2 in relation o Inquisition
Even in quite some atrticles they start of by saying : the creators of BaldursGate , Kotor and Dragon Age :Origins
Why is it they don't want to be reminded of Da2 and I'm not surprised at all
As it is the Huge mistake of this series
I guess they sort of wat to wish it away , at least I do
For example I played trough DA:O sort of like 15-20 times. And recently started again on PC this time
DA2 only played through it once and started a second but never finished the second time
Also due to my huge dislike of Felicia day as I did get her DLC and always thought she was trying to hard to be likable and funny while she was neither just annoying

Yess I have high expectations for DAI but I know Bioware can deliver as they have proven it before and they have won a lot of credit back from what I know of DAI so far and I guess not just from me

So, if this is out November 21, and i can't play it because i'll be busy till somewhere before mid December... Man i'll need to stay away from the forums as well -.-

At least it feels like we'll be able to enjoy it for Christmas break, plus it might be patched, and rid of initial annoying bugs.

Oh well, gotta be positive >.>

With this delay, approximately 5,250,000 people will die without experiencing the joy that is Dragon Age Inquisition.

Yeah, but around 15.4 million more babies will get to experience the revealing of Dragon Age Inquisition to the world.  ;)

Polishing is nice, but when do they burn the game to DVD/ Bluray (on 5 different consoles mind you)? AKA when does it go gold? they won´t have to november the 18 right? i don´t know how long it takes to copy the game to discs, but it is a somewhat long process? or is it just like a week? :S
