Well, I was able to reschedule my day off from October 7 to November 18 and Finding out that Far cry 4 also is out that day make it a two for one (thought I will start with DAI first). I was glad that they were able to get the Guidebook's release date pushed back too as that should prevent spoilers being leaked due to it being out a month in advance of the game.

Personally I would have prefer that it come out sooner, but I am sure we would rather have as bug free a release as possible then getting it earlier and finding one that hurts or breaks our gaming experience. I doubt they choose to release it for fear of competion with other games considering they choose the same day as Far Cry 4, which is a stronger threat to sales then anything on Oct 7.

A bit sad but I think it work out in the end.

You think they can at least try to fix the save import for xbox 360 or give us some pre-built histories, like in DA2?

The defult story I read about (dalish elf, people dying.) was so damn depressing.

I am guessing the reason for the delay is for the inclusion of Multiplayer or a pay to shortcut the inevitable endless grind game mechanic

If you think a month is enough time to get either of these funcitoning properly and added in with the rest of the code of a game as large as this, then you are misinformed about how programming and coding works. Besides, they've made it explicitly clear that this month is not for adding new stuff, it's just to polish the old stuff.

It might, but from what I recall (of previous discussions over the past year) it should not have the same bugs as BF4 since that was a shooter.

For the record, I think Shadows of Mordor looks like terribad fanfiction backed by Assassin's Creed/Arkham Asylum I-can-never-die-because-I-spam-Counter combat. If it was a delay because of competition, I personally would gamble against Sherdhers ehrf Merhduhr than Far Cry 4. So I have a hard time believing it was just competitive maneuvering, which even with the best evidence has plenty of holes in it.

stolen for my sig because of the  sheer genius of this post  i was thinking the same thing about that game time will tell.

I agree about the game, though I can understand a fantasy game being leery of releasing at the same time as anything with "Lord of the Rings" in the title.

Because that is an unfair thing to do to physical good stores that you create a partnership with.

Still does not explain or justify the 3 day delay between USA and EU releases the article clearly states that there is no reason logistical or otherwise why a unified worldwide release can not be done even on physical copies, As for the argument of being unfair to physical goods stores in the UK at least it does not hold much water as both the small independent and big chain stores like Game.HMV etc are closing down left right and center for one reason customers are becoming more aware that they can get the same product online for less in many cases.

In the UK there is now parity between online and physical games sales. most of the big retail chains like Game are moving to a completely online format like Amazon so by continuing to favor "Brick and Mortar" stores by using a system that is out of touch with reality all your doing is punishing customers for where they live and for the "Brick and Mortar" stores failure to be competitive with digital and online stores. So far the only excuse I have heard for maintaining the "status quo" is "well that's the way it's always been" the way games are bought and consumed have changed and its about time the game companies changed with it instead of dragging their heels in rose tinted nostalgia.

Physical Stores will never "change their ways" as long as Companies like EA keep them on life support by using a system that acts like the internet does not exist, add into that the other "anti consumer" practices of timed exclusive DLC's and then there is the price gouging on the Origin store. In the USA DAI is $60 in the UK its £59.99 which means that British customers like me have paid $102.58c for a digital game that a US customer gets for $60 so i have had to pay $42 more than a American Customer for the same game then to add insult to injury I then have to wait 3 days longer. So I ask again why are customers in the EU being treated so unfairly since we are actually paying more for the same product.Oh and FYI $60 is £35.26p(Digital Deluxe Edition)

So if companies are unwilling to treat all customers equally then maybe your Origin prices should reflect reality since EA has made $42 extra on every EU customer that has bought through Origin

you act as if BioWare(ha capped my W) has anything too do with stores/shipping and release dates.  were as all they do is give a date with alittle wiggle that they think they will be ready for the game to go too cert process/manufacturing

thats not say that i don't agree with you(other than bits about being all ea's fault) but this hardly only EA issue happens too all your dvd's.

now take that passion and change every companys mind that does video/movie based sales/service in the uk  and it might change.

Edit im form canada when i buy my forgeworld http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/ products from uk sometimes i end up paying 42$ extra than somone from the uk

ie its two way street that no one wins.

@ Bryan from Bioware: Thank you for your reply. It is very much appreciated. Anytime a company posts on a forum to address an issue, positive or negative, it shows that the company is interested in the consumer's views. Class act. Thank you.

It doesn't matter what argument is used I am certain you will keep on stating there is no good reason to have a difference, only because you can't wait a measly three extra days. A lot of online stores still mostly sell physical copies of the game which are more than often still a lot cheaper than the digital versions of the game. Also, at the end of the day a lot of games sold on consoles are physical games. Should they just screw over console users and have a different release days for that instead?

Also, the price gouging you talk about will not remotely change if games can only be gotten online and no other way. The price gouging exists because at the end of the day the VAT throughout most of Europe is a lot higher than it is in most US states (in some states it is about 7 per cent whereas in Europe it tends to be close to 20 or over). And the US prices are always without the VAT which gets added later, as is normal in the US for everything you buy. European prices are also higher because of our social security which adds to cost of everything. The price differences are unlikely to ever change and there will likely never be a way to legitimately buy the game for a cheaper price outside of European borders.

If its any consolation, i had to pay AU$200 for my pre-order, so lovely paying 60% more for something for simply being in aus

Unfortunately, I can't confirm that it's the ultra ultimate definite no-take-backsies release date, although I'd be ridiculously surprised if it slipped again. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but some seem to be thinking that us spending the extra month will actually make the game worse than if we were to just release in October? Or is it "this delay makes me think the game is just in a bad state" simply because a delay means it's not ready when we would have liked?

Well, I for one feel for you Bioware guys having to address every picayune concern expressed here in "the panic room." Don't get me wrong, Allan! I temporarily failed to master my Zen domain, after I heard the news about the delay, but it proved merely to be a temporary slip.

It helped that I was at work, when the story broke. I've got a large enough staff that they didn't quite realize why the boss was cranky, only that I was to be avoided that day and hey, production surprisingly went up as everyone tried to be busier, lest they incur even more of my wrath.

Thanks for introducing me to the term 'picayune' which had not penetrated my english lexicon.

Incidentally I think that the delay announcement was handled really well.

The trailer for the game at E3 was cool. Looking forward to playing that as well as DAI.

I'm not sure if I am going to play FC4 shortly after launch , while the trailer looked cool I have still 4 games in pre order for 2014
Like DAI , Shadows of Mordor, Alien Isolation, Horizon2 and I almost forgot about ESO
So I guess I have to wait a bit before I go out and get FC4 too lol
And right forgot about The Last of us next week lol as I never played It (no ps3 here) too many games and not enough time / money lol

The year long push was to expand the scope of the game and it added a lot more. This one is just about taking the content that we have and polishing it a lot.

Then this delay is excellent. There is no need of another DA2 tbh.

It'd have been a much smaller game (and in some ways different as a result) for sure, but yes I think the game's quality would have suffered if we had released last year. I was super excited about the extra year. I like this one too (of course I'll say that though, right? :P) because an extra month of polish still goes a long ways.

And I totally support you.

This is getting damn redicilous the way some company's do their pricing
Tho it is strange that when I buy some merchandise form example Bioware store it s nicely converted from us$ to euro against the current exchange rate ,
Most of the time I however I use Paypal when buying online so it might be that Paypal is doing the conversion but also when I have
Payed at the Bioware store it was against the current exchange rates
So I wonder , why not do the same thing with games . As usually it is done at the 1US$ = 1 euro wich makes me think that it's done like that since they can get away with it
If some one can explain this then please do as I do not quite understand it
I assume it's the higher VAT in Europe coupled with the shipping cost ... Or is there something else
Maybe someone from Bioware can explain this

Thank you very much, I do enjoy the forums, generally speaking I dont know enough about DA or DAI in general to speak about the game itself but I can speak about generalized things.

I guess I have been doing my research & purchasing backwards.  I go on Amazon and other websites to read the reviews, then go to my neighborhood Game Stop and buy the game...lol  I don't want to wait for the mail, I want it in my grubby little paws as soon as possible.

That said, I'm wondering if I shouldn't change my pre-order from my 360 to Xbox One...my 360 is starting to shrug off this mortal coil.  Now I have another 5 weeks to save up for my new console - yay!  \O/

Unless you have money in your paypal account. Your bank does the conversion (and takes a cut)

So yea.. this delay is annoying as hell. But a game that needs polish and has bugs is more annoying in my opinion. Anyone who has claimed they have cancelled their pre-order because of a delay are just attention seeking. I'm not gonna jump on the take as long as you want to release the game band wagon though because that is also a stupid statement to make in my opinion.
