How would one go about requesting sass in a job posting? I assume flat out saying it will just bring out the try-hards and posers. Is this what people mean when they fluff up postings with "we value an informal environment"?

Allan and I are more less known as the sass kings, in our department

I just cancelled my pre-order. Here is why:

- Bioware/EA, or whomever is responsible for the delay, just missed the window. Delaying the game for an entire year, to be on the new platforms, was a subjective delay. An argument can be made either way. However, when the splash is made, all vendors have Oct 7 as the launch date, and then it is pushed off again, consumers are generally not happy. This slip, puts the game release date just nine days prior to Thanksgiving in the US. That is a major market, and one whose sales could slip. Who wants to start a game, put it down due to Thanksgiving (travel, family visits, friend visits, getting ready for the dinners, weekend shopping, football, etc.), and then pick it up sometime in December? Then, just a few weeks after that, Christmas starts! Sure some will; but, some will not. In fact, that is one major reason why I just cancelled. The delay was just to much. A week or two would have been ok; however, six weeks, and into the holiday season is just not worth it.

- DAO vs DAII vs DAI. DAO was a winner. No question. It is generally safe to say DAII was a disappointment. Will DAI be the winner or old, or a sequel to a disaster? Given this delay, one can only speculate. Is the Keep not ready? Do they have more bugs than a trash heap? Is it Marketing? Or are they afraid of another release? Given all this, I will be on the sidelines waiting to see how people review the game, rather than pre-ordering it.

- Shadows or Mordor: This is also scheduled for a Oct 7 release. Was Bioware/EA afraid that this would cut into their Marketing/Sales/Profits? Possibly. The game has generated a lot of buzz on the internet, and maybe, just maybe Bioware/EA felt they could not compete. If so, then that furhter erodes my confidence in the game.

Perhaps I am in a daze, and I missed the true reason for the delay. Maybe I missed the press release. Perhaps there is a valid reason. But for me, I will not wait. Perhaps I will pick it up in January, after the holidays; but, only if the overall reviews are good. Had they kept the original release date, my pre order would have not been cancelled.

I am sorry that you feel that way, but we decided it was best for us to push it back. So that is what we did, in a public traded company there is 3 major stakeholders.

The shareholders, the customers, and the employees and we decided to make a decision that would best work with those 3 in mind.

Also Dragon Age is international, and while the US makes up a good amount of our market, you cant always appease around the holidays of everyone.

@ Bryan from Bioware: Thank you for your reply. It is very much appreciated. Anytime a company posts on a forum to address an issue, positive or negative, it shows that the company is interested in the consumer's views. Class act. Thank you.

Thank you very much, I do enjoy the forums, generally speaking I dont know enough about DA or DAI in general to speak about the game itself but I can speak about generalized things.

Tell that to Duke Nukem Forever.  While I'm sure this delay will help, you can only delay the game so much before it causes detrimental effects and people expect too much from it.

Is it the delay that is causing the detrimental effects? Or is it detrimental effects that cause delays? I think it's an important distinction. Scope creep can be a serious concern for sure, but if this is the case the concern is the 1 year time extension we got, not the 1 month, because that was a delay to add more to the game. New features aren't created within a single month, but a heck of a lot of bugs can be addressed.

It's important to note, I think, that DAO was delayed several times too (and took 7 years).

I'm not sure if DNF would have been better received if they had taken their code base and game assets, as they were at any given time during the development, and just shipped that. I don't know what their code base was like at any point in time, so maybe I'm wrong - especially if rumors of restarting the development cycle was true. I do think the game would have been better served if we went back in time and made different decisions. This is very different than just releasing earlier with what they have.

I think despite what Bioware is saying, I'm thinking the delay of the game is for trying to increase the sales for the holidays which I think is BS in my opinion.

If this is what you think then this is what you think. I don't know enough about industry sales patterns to say if it makes much of an impact on our sales or not. I could tell you what I was told, but I feel it wouldn't really change any minds anyways (plus there's no assurances that I'm telling the truth - one's perspective of if I am will likely be what they thought before me writing this).

I like the extra month because it will help us fix more bugs, and give us all more time in the game to find those bugs. More permutations, more different ways to play the game.

Will the game be bug free? No. Does a delay ensure that a game will not have serious bugs? No. But I have no qualms about being happy with another handful of weeks to catch as many of them as we can because I think ultimately it will make for a better experience by the players which is beneficial for both fans and BioWare.

1x cancelled pre-order; not their fault though. Since we're shipping out Nov 17. will no longer have time to play for six months. Sad as it is. Oh well. Can always use that Coll. Ed. edition for something more useful now.

Take care and be safe.
