What if there was a seventh class?

Role: Support. Name: Guardian.

Let the myth become reality!

I can't believe nobody has mentioned it (particularly you!  :P ), but a close quarters combat class. Since we're thinking in a purely hypothetical sense, why not a class that doesn't fire weapons, but is instead pure melee. Imagine all the random hammers and space swords you could think, with powers to boost their killing efficiency in melee range. Now isn't that more fun than a support class?

Since vanguard is taken, they should call it the Beserker class.  B)

^ Hah, I was clearly trolling with the Councilor idea.

Though I'm now curious about where did Bioware's 6 classes for ME series originally come from, did they invent the idea or borrow it from other source(s)?

It's what adds up when you create each possible combination of the basic Tech, Biotic and Combat characters and the respective hybrids. And the tech, biotic, combat trinity is a basic gameplay decision.

But of course you weren't trolling - there is indeed a 4th basic class - it's not Councillor.

It's Consort.

I don´t know if they would justify making up an entirely new class, but some Biotic/Combat hybrid characters that are not Vanguards may be fun to play.

Dedicated Melee Class would be awesome. All powers focused on melee and CQC. I know there are melee kits but hell there are adepts and yet adepts span into infiltrator, vanguards, and sentinels still.

A dedicated melee class would just make it pointless to spec other kits for melee. I much prefer well-rounded kits that can be adjusted to be successful in melee role.

In ME2 they introduced signature powers to give each class its own flavor. In ME1 and 3 it's more a cosmetic thing, hence why classes in those 2 games don't mean much in my opinion.

Personally, I would like to have the option to create my own kits in the next ME game. Most powers will need a big overhaul and certain restrictions about which combinations are allowed are probably needed as well (else everyone is going to build a Tactical Cheat + Marksman + Devastator Mode character; or a Biotic Charge, Annihilation Field, Cluster Bombs kit).

^The first restriction would be that you have to choose one of the class specialties (Adept, Engineer, Soldier, Sentinel, Vanguard, Infiltrator), and then the biotic vs tech vs combat powers are restricted based on that choice.

In any event, there is no need for a seventh class in the ME system especially since there have been different subtypes of those six in MP that have been fairly different to begin with (some probably too derivative, imo).

Specialist: No guns or grenades, just powers and/or melee. This class is either a Spectre soldier/engineer/infiltrator or Matriarch-level biotic powerhouse. Or they could be a Krogan warlord. Give them stronger base damage for biotic/tech.

Playing the hypothetical game, I would like to see a medic as well. A useful universal power would be some kind of healing bubble that offered a limited extent of protection so the medic isn't completely shredded during the revive animation. Maybe this could be upgraded to keep enemies from entering the bubble for say 5 seconds? This could stop the common problem of: squad member down, well-meaning teammate rushes in and revives, during the delay where you can't control your character stunlock opponents move in and lock you into another down or the sync killer decides that guy who can't do anything thanks to a slow recovery period really needs a hug/is great for sword or martial arts practice/looks tasty. The other skills depend on the race. For a passive shields are fully restored upon revival.

If you added a new designation then you'd end up with 10 different classes. The only way to add a new 7th class if it were a hybrid version of combat, tech and biotics. I wouldn't have necessarily been a opposed to a class that used all 3 designations, but at the same time I would argue why not do create-a-kit.

Medicine was originally a tech talent, and essentially the Sentinel and Engineer were meant to cover the role of healers (since Medicine granted a bonus to Medi-gel cooldown.

The Sentinel is able to combine tech and biotics to manipulate the environment, disable and track enemies, or defend the party. Gameplay focus is on protecting the party using kinetic barriers and healing it with advanced medical training.

The Engineer is a tech specialist, able to quickly and easily manipulate the environment with specific talents, and repair or modify technical equipment. Gameplay focus is on shaping the battlefield during combat, healing the party, and debuffing enemies (disabling weapons and lowering shields).

You don't need a seventh class, you can but your healers into either of the above ones.

I want a Volus dual-wielding Spitfires.

On a more serious note, I like Dala Kaar's idea about a class focused around omni-tools and deployables.

Hipster

Would be required to use weapons that don't mesh with the class's power set, and the passives would have weapon specific bonuses for weapons that you weren't allowed to use on the class - because it's a Hipster!

Also, would be able to detonate Explosive Ammo.

People would complain about it being too OP until it was nerfed to near useless.

I would like to see a full medic type class. Yeah, I know, Volus. But, they don't buff the squad or debuff enemies. Give it something like a medical station, like the Demolisher's pylon and let him set up, like I dunno 3, and if you get downed inside one's range, it would auto revive you once per wave. Sure, it could  be exploited, but these days, what isn't?

I also would like to see a full melee class.

A class made up of different battle creatures?

So, Varren, Klixen, Thresher Maw, and Space Cow?

Just don't use the Space Cow against Geth or Cerberus - remember, defenseless herbivores are no match for guided missiles!

But Space cows are harmless, they never done anything. Surely nobody would shoot them.

-BTW has anyone seen my credit chip?

Also; Thresher Maws are OP, pls nerf!

I really like the 6 class concept. And then variations of them at times, and evolutions of their concept every game.

But I guesss....... actually, I got nothin :)

Mech pilot that after getting enough kills can call down an Atlas or something into the field and climb aboard to go wreak havoc ... but I've a sneaking suspicion this has already been done recently :P
