I planned to get a digital version of mass effect on steam (but still haven't due to personal reasons). Then I decided to check the faq and then I'm finding this:
"Q: What sort of DRM will Mass Effect 2 employ?
[*]Mass
Effect 2 will require a unique CD key to install on PC, and then you
must have the disc in the tray to play the game. Additionally if you
registered for the Cerberus Network, you must have an EA account to
register your game too. If you purchased the digital version on PC, you
will be able to install the game 5 times."[/list]Now what I dislike is the last part of the answer. "install the game 5 times", I'm not the guy who want to keep his unplayed pc games on my hard drive (which is one of the reason why I'm using steam). So should I buy the dvds so I won't have to worry about an install limit, or is there something I'm misunderstanding?
mass effect 2 digital or dvd?

I am sure you can negotiate this. Although, I have never had an instance where I couldn't reinstall a game. Just call the publisher and state why you would need more then 5 installs. Otherwise, buy the DVD.
Bioshock tried this and they FAILED.

Don't quote me, but I don't think this applies to the Steam version. I can't remember where but I do remember somewhere specifically saying that only applies to the digital version bought through vendors like EA or gamestop. Since Steam has their own system of protection, it wouldnt make much sense to employ this tactic.

I believe you are right. As you can't play the game without Steam, it would be redundant to have additional protection.
