Keeping Positive; Good Effects of the game being delayed to November

Now I'm the type of guy who almost always supports delays. Not just with video games, but any product (movies, tv, books, electronics, etc.) because in most cases a delay could only mean a more polished, complete product. Though they probably would never admit it, we all know why DA:2 and ME3 were such flops...if a delay means avoiding another episode like those, I'm all for it.

Can't help but say it though, this delay stings pretty badly. The game was set to come out the day after my birthday. I was super excited, it legitimately felt like a birthday present from BioWare to me :( . Mind you I'm not complaining or judging their decision, in fact I support it, but I can't help but feel a little salty from this.

Like having your birthday gift delayed!

Anyway, let's think of some positives that come from this delay. These can range from universal positives to personal ones, I'll start;

1) Obviously, the game will be better and more complete in the long run. Will likely cement it's legacy that much deeper in the history of epic RPG's.

2) It's new release date is Thanksgiving break, so for a College student like myself, that means a week off from school, and a solid week of playing, whereas the original release date was on a regular work/school week.

3) Give us time to tie up any loose ends with other video games, tv shows, movies, animes, etc. I'm the type of guy who doesn't really like to watch and keep up with multiple things at once, I like to focus one story at a time so I can get the most immersive experience. Watching multiple stories just takes you out the immersion considering you're constantly changing worlds/universes.

4) One extra thing to be Thankful for on Thanksgiving :P

Share your thoughts. Try to be positive! Every cloud has a silver lining.

For me personally October is still part of the busy season for my job. I wouldn't be getting real face time with my Inquisitor until November anyway. Plus more refinement is always a plus.

So between all the many thousands of other things I need to do, it gives me more time to round out Destiny and Sunset Overdrive.

Yeah I might actually pick up Destiny now. I'll still wait for reviews, but now that we have 2 months to play it before Inquisition, it's definitely up'ed my chances of picking the game up.

If it's released November 18th then I can upgrade my PC without having the game sitting on my shelf judging me for over a month and a half, now it will only be judging me be for about 3 weeks.

Here's a beta review for you: It was freaking awesome.

Mike's words intrigued me, probably because I read too much into things. Still he bothered to mention things like "strengthening the emotional impact of your hero's choices" which can only lead me to conclude that they are really trying for that player reactivity they've been talking about. Like maybe working out a ton of bugs with how your companions react to decisions you make, things like that.

Positives of the delay:

1) it will give me time to play around with Shadow of Mordor before sinking the rest of my existence into DA:I. I was gonna get SoM anyway but, let's be honest, once DA:I took over my life, I was never ever going to touch anything else. The game would end up shelved until next year or something. Now I can distract myself with it through those last few weeks that seem to never end.

2) it will give me time to get my friends pumped up for DA:I once they come out of the Assassin's Creed hypetrain. Before, I only had a brief window of opportunity to get them into DA:I before AC would take all their attention - now they'll burn through AC first, and when they're done complaining about it, I can sneak in all cute and, hey check out this great game that's releasing next week.

3) my boss didn't wanna give me the week off in October because we'll be crunching for deadlines like mad, but she was cool signing on a week off in November instead. Now my dream vacation of spending a whole week playing DA:I in my pajamas and crying gross ugly fan tears into my cheerios when the plot inevitably breaks my heart can actually turn true.

All in all, imokaywiththat.jpg

No offense, but this sounds like a damage control thread. Did you really need to make it?

I'll have more time to save for a PS4 for my family before the game comes out (which is a bit of a relief since September is so expensive with back to school - $750 for two bus passes alone!).

The only thing really negative I've heard coming from the Destiny Beta is the ridiculously low FoV (It's like 70 I think). Definitely something to consider if you get motion sickness. How an FPS Developer thought a sub90FOV was acceptable  is beyond me.

I've got something positive! My local game store called me to tell me the release date had been pushed back, which was nice of them, the guy who called knew me from the times I've come into the store, and he asked me out.  :pinched:

10+ ego.

Thanks Bioware.

i said no, but still.

The new release date is the very start of my 3 month uni break, so I can't say I'm too bothered about it. Living in Australia has finally paid off!

Why not? Don't you get tired of seeing all the negative posts? I know I do.

It's closer to Thanksgiving week, so I'll be able to have more time to play around the release date. ^_^

Personally, while I'm happy that they taking time to get as many bug out of the game as possible and polishing the graphic, story etc, November is a hectic time for me as I'll be part the way through my course and it is around the time, that they(the lectures) start taking you out on long field work trips to work on what you have learned in class ... so money will be quite tight.- I live in the uk, so we don't have thanksgiving.

On the other hand it gives me more time to save up for the game and plan my Quizzie.

I have no problem with them delaying the release till November, bug free and more polished, we can only hope. Besides this delay will give me more time now to save up for a PS4 so it all works out in the long run, for me anyway.

I need this positivity!

Okay, Let's think...

Ah! I'm currently pregnant with my first child and my due date is September 24th. Assuming I give birth late September, It's unlikely I would have been able to play anyway. By November 18th, my baby will be at least  close to two months and I'll hopefully be getting into a flow where I can do time management better.

Um...um...um...I guess it'll give me more time to enjoy Minecraft on the Xbox One. First thing I'm going to do is build a wall x cubes long, x being the days between the day it comes out and the day DAI comes out. Then every day, I'll remove one block.

Is this as sad as I think it sounds?

Do it, and then Eric and you can get into count-offs.

I'll have more time to play some of the games I bought in the Steam summer sale.

Or, more likely, replay Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Gives me time to catch up on my Steam and PS3 backlog. Maybe I'll actually get the motivation to get through other two thirds of Dark Souls (probably not though).

And more time to read The Last Flight.

I recommend waiting until September 28th, if possible. It's my birthday, and nothing has ever happened on that day except me being born. It'll be nice to have some company. Congrats on the incoming bundle of joy/pain/everlovingmisery/abundanceofjoy.
